Abstract
The circuit has a solid-state lithium-iodine battery, whose voltage is reduced by a series resistor (R1) from 2.8 V to 1.5 V in order to operate a conventional integrated circuit (3). A capacitor (5) is provided which is continuously charged from the battery and from which current peaks are drawn. The series resistance is substantially higher than the internal resistance of the battery. It is possible in this way for a portable small appliance, e.g. a watch or a calculator, to be operated reliably using a low-volume battery, e.g. over ten years. <IMAGE>
