Es wurde gefunden, dass Verbindungen der Formel I

Hervorzuheben sind diejenigen Wirkstoffe, in denen R] Chlor oder auch Fluor, R2 Wasserstoff, gegebenenfalls auch Chlor ist.
Der Rest R3 steht vorzugsweise für -CH2OH,
-COOR<s oder-COOKat. Dabei bedeutet Re vor allem Wasserstoff, einen Q-Q-Alkylrest, einen Niederalkoxynie-deralkylrest, einen Niederalkenyl- oder Nideralkinylrest. Kat steht vor allem für ein Alkali-Kation (z.B. Na+, K+), ein Äquivalent eines Erdalkali-Kations oder ein Ammoniumkation, z.B. ein solches, das sich von Ammoniak oder ein- oder mehrfach methyl-, äthyl-, propyl-, isopropyl--oder hydroxyäthylsubstituierten Ammoniumbasen ableitet.
Unter niederen Alkyl-, Alkoxy-, Alkylthio-, Alkenyl--oder Alkinylresten sind solche Reste zu verstehen, die bis zu 4 C-Atome enthalten. Bevorzugt sind Alkyl-, Alkoxy- und Alkylthioreste mit 1 bis 3, insbesondere 1 bis 2 C-Atomen, als Alkenylrest mit Allyl, als Alkinylrest Propargyl hervorzuheben. Als gegebenenfalls substituierte Alkylreste sind beispielsweise zu nennen Methyl, Äthyl, Propyl, Isopropyl, n-Butyl, Isobutyl, t.-Butyl, Methoxyäthyl, Athoxyäthyl, n-Butoxyäthyl, Methoxyäthoxyäthyl.

Einige Verbindungen der Formel I sind aus den deutschen Offenlegungsschriften 2 342 118 und 2415 867 bekannt. Die bekannten Verbindungen und auch die bisher nicht beschriebenen Verbindungen der Formel I können nach den Verfahren der Offenlegungsschriften oder nach anderen an sich bekannten Verfahren hergestellt werden. Zweckmässig wendet man folgende Verfahren an:
1. Man setzt eine Verbindung der Formel chr

Die Umsetzung von II mit III wird vorzugsweise in einem inerten Lösungsmittel, z.B. einem Alkohol, durchgeführt. Die Reaktionstemperatur liegt vorzugsweise zwischen 0 °C und der Siedetemperatur des Reaktionsge-mischs.
Bedeutet R3' eine Ester- oder Carbamoylgruppe, so kann durch Verseifung, vorzugsweise mit Basen, daraus die entsprechende Säure bzw. das Salz der betreffenden Base erhalten werden. Die Umsetzung der Ester mit Aminen NHR7R8' führt zu Aminen der Formel I bzw., falls R7 die OH-Gruppe ist, zu Hydroxamsäuren, die ihrerseits verestert werden können. Durch alkoholatkataly-sierte Umsetzung v/erden aus den primär erhaltenen Estern andere Ester der Formel I gewonnen.
Die Hydrolyse der Ester bzw. Amide, vorzugsweise mit Alkalinen, führt zu den Säuren mit R3' gleich

-COOH bzw. -COO-Kation. Die Salze dieser Säuren können mit üblichen Allcylierungsmitteln, z. B. Dialkyl-sulfaten, in gewünschte Ester übergeführt werden.
Aus den Säuren können auch durch Umsetzung mit 55 l,r-Carbonyldiimidazol die Imidazolide hergestellt und ihrerseits mit Alkoholen, Mercaptanen oder Aminen zu Estern, Thioestern bzw. Amiden umgesetzt werden. Zur Herstellung der Ester kann ferner die Umsetzung der Säuren mit Alkoholen in Gegenwart von Carbodiimiden, 6o zur Herstellung der Amide die Umsetzung der Säuren mit Isocyanaten dienen.
Für die Herstellung solcher Verbindungen, in denen R3 die Gruppe-CH2OH oder ein funktionelles Derivat davon bedeutet, können auch entsprechende Verbindun-65 gen der Formel IV, worin R für eine veresterte Carboxyl-gruppe steht, mit komplexen Hydriden, vorzugsweise mit Lithiumaluminiumhydrid, zur Hydroxymethylgruppe reduziert werden.

Die Ausgangsstoffe der Formel II lassen sich aus entsprechenden Alkoholen der Formel

ch20h durch Austausch der QH-Gruppe im Hydroxymethylrest gegen X nach üblichen Verfahren erhalten.
Überraschenderweise können die Verbindungen der Formel II mit X gleich Brom aus den Verbindungen der Formel

erhalten werden, indem man diese Verbindung mit üblichen Halogenmethylierungsmitteln, vorzugsweise Form-aldehyd/HCl oder Dichlordimethyläther, in einem iner-i5 ten Lösungsmittel, z.B. Cyclohexan oder Benzol, bei etwa 0-80 °C, vorzugsweise bei Raumtemperatur, umsetzt.
Phenole der Formel V können in an sich bekannter Weise erhalten werden, indem man einen Phenolkohlen-20 säureniederalkylester mit Methyl-Chlormethyläther chlormethyliert, das Reaktionsprodukt mit einem Phenol der Formel III umsetzt und dann aus dem Carbonat das Phenol der Formel V freisetzt.
Nach der erwähnten Offenlegungsschrift zeichnen 25 sich die dort beschriebenen Verbindungen durch wertvolle pharmakologische Eigenschaften aus, z.B. durch cho-lesterinsenkende Wirkung.
Wie nun gefunden wurde, zeigen die Verbindungen der Formel I überraschenderweise auch eine starke herbi-30 zide Wirkung, insbesondere eine Wirkung gegen Un-gräser, z.B. Ackerfuchsschwanz, Flughafer, Raygras, Wildhirsen. Die Selektivität ist so ausgeprägt, dass auch bei höheren Aufwandmengen dikotyle Nutzpflanzen allenfalls geringfügig geschädigt werden. Selbst in einigen 35 Kulturen von monokotylen Nutzpflanzen, z.B. Mais,
Reis, Gerste, Hafer, Weizen, können mit den erfindungs-gemässen Mitteln Ungräser bekämpft werden.
Die neuen Mittel eignen sich für die Anwendung im Vorauflauf wie auch im Nachauflaufverfahren, wobei die Auf-40 wandmenge im allgemeinen 0,1 bis 3 kg, vorzugsweise 0,3 bis 1,5 kg/ha beträgt.
Zur Herstellung der erfmdungsgemässen Mittel können Verbindungen der Formel I in an sich bekannter Weise mit üblichen Hilfs- und/oder Trägerstoffen zu gebräuchlichen 45 Formulierungen verarbeitet werden, z.B. zu Konzentraten, wie Emulsionskonzentraten oder Suspensionspulvern, bei denen der Wirkstoffgehalt zwischen etwa 10 und 95 Gewichtsprozent liegt, oder zu Stäuben, Emulsionen, Granulaten, Lösungen, die unmittelbar angewendet werden können so und zwischen etwa 0,01 und 20 Gewichtsprozent Wirkstoff enthalten.

säure und ihre Salze 4-Methyl-3-(trifluormethylsulfonyl)-amido-acetanilid
2.4-Dimethyl-5-(trifluormethylsulfonyl)-amido-acetanilid. Werden Mischungen von Herbiziden verwendet, dann hängen die relativen Mengen, in denen sie eingesetzt werden, von den zu behandelnden Nutzpflanzenkulturen sowie der Art der zu bekämpfenden Unkräuter ab.
Eine Erweiterung der Einsatzmöglichkeiten der erfin-dungsgemässen Herbizide und Herbizidkombinationen kann durch Zusatz solcher Stoffe erreicht werden, welche die gewünschte Wirkung nicht wesentlich beeinträchtigen, jedoch die Verträglichkeit für die Nutzpflanzen erhöhen («Antidots»).
Für Herbizide, die insbesondere der Bekämpfung breitblättriger Umkräuter dienen, ist zur Verbesserung der Selektivität die Zumischung bestimmter Carbonsäureamide als Antidots vorgeschlagen worden. So sind in der deutschen Offenlegungsschrift 2 218 097 Carbonsäureamide als Antidots für eine Reihe von herbiziden Thiocarbamaten, Acet-aniliden, Triazinen und 2,4-Dichlorphenoxyessigsäure beschrieben worden. Nach der deutschen Offenlegungsschrift
2 402 983 eignen sich Antidots des gleichen Typs für die Verbesserung der Selektivität von herbiziden Chloracetaniliden. Eine weitere Gruppe von Antidots auf der Basis von Alkan-sulfonaten ist in der deutschen Offenlegungsschrift 2 141 586 für den Schutz von Getreide bei der Anwendung herbizider Thiolcarbamate und Triazine beschrieben worden. Eine andere Gruppe von Antidots, die in Verbindung mit Thio-carbamat-Herbiziden verwendet werden können, leitet sich vom 2,3-Dibrompropionamid ab.
Wie gefunden wurde, sind die bekannten Antidots überraschenderweise auch zur Verbesserung der Selektivität der herbiziden Mittel der Formel I geeignet.
Zur selektiven Unkrautbekämpfung, insbesondere in Mais, Reis, Weizen und anderem Getreide, kann eine Verbindung der Formel I, gegebenenfalls in Mischung mit bekannten Herbiziden, in Verbindung mit einem Antidot a) der Formel A

Die Anwendung erfolgt in der für Antidots üblichen Weise, d.h. sie kann gleichzeitig mit dem Herbizid erfolgen, wobei Herbizid und Antidot in Form gemeinsamer Formulierungen bzw. daraus hergestellter Spritzbrühen ausgebracht werden. Wirkstoff und Antidot können jedoch auch in Form einer Tankmischung angewendet werden. Auch die getrennte Anwendung ist möglich, insbesondere die Behandlung der Kulturfläche vor der Aussaat oder nach der Aus5

saat mit dem Antidot und danach mit dem Herbizid. Die Applikation kann schliesslich auch so erfolgen, dass man zunächst das Herbizid und kurz danach das Antidot ausbringt.
Als Verbindungen der Formel A sind diejenigen hervorzuheben, in denen Ra einen ungesättigten Rest, vor allem den Allylrest bedeutet und Rb für Allyl, Äthyl oder Propyl steht. Soweit Ra und Rb zusammen mit dem Stickstoffatom einen Heterocyclus darstellen, ist dieser vorzugsweise ein 2,2-Dimethyl-1,3-oxyzolidinyl-, ein Pyrrolidinyl-, Piperidi-nyl- oder Morpholinylrest.
Als Verbindungen der Formel B sind diejenigen hervorzuheben, in denen Rc Wasserstoff, ferner auch Äthyl oder Allyl bedeutet und Rd für einen verzweigten Alkylrest, insbesondere tert.-Butyl, Isopropyl-, 3-Methyl-3-butinyl, 4-Methyl-3-pentyl, oder für Allyl, 2,2-Dimethoxy-äthyl, 2-Äthylbutyl oder 1-Äthinylcyclohexyl steht.
Als Antidots der Formel C sind diejenigen hervorzuheben, in denen X Brom, m 2 oder 3 bedeutet und Q für Methyl oder Äthyl steht.
Die Herbizide werden in der gleichen Aufwandmenge appliziert, wie sie für die Anwendung ohne Antidot vorgeschlagen wird.
Die durch den Antidotzusatz verbesserte Verträglichkeit erlaubt es jedoch, auch höhere als die üblichen Aufwandmengen zu verwenden. Dies kann dann vorteilhaft sein,
wenn mit der höheren Aufwandmenge auch solche unerwünschten Pflanzen erfasst werden, die anderenfalls nicht ausreichend bekämpft werden könnten; oder wenn unter Bedingungen, die für die Anwendung der Herbizide sehr ungünstig sind, eine vollständigere oder sichere Wirkung erreicht werden soll
Das Gewichtsverhältnis Antidot/herbizider Wirkstoff beträgt vorteilhaft zwischen 1: 10 und 10:1, vorzugsweise 1:6 bis 2:1, insbesondere 1:4 bis 1:1.
Die Formulierung von Wirkstoff und Antidot erfolgt zweckmässig in der für Herbizide üblichen Weise mit gebräuchlichen Hilfs- und Trägerstoffen, z.B. in Form von Suspensionspulvern, Emulsionskonzentraten, Granulaten, Stäubemitteln.
Versuchsbeschreibung 1. Methode. Mais, Sorte «Harrach» , wird in Plastiktöpfe von 12 cm Durchmesser in gärtnerische Kulturerde eingesät und erhält als Deckschicht reinen Sand.
Unmittelbar nach der Einsaat werden die Testpräparate bzw. Tankmischungen der Herbizide mit Antidot in einer Dosierungsreihe und bei Mischungen in wechselnden Verhältnissen mit einem Laborspritzgerät in 12001/ha Wasser appliziert. Aufstellung im Gewächshaus bei tags 23 °C und nachts 18 °C ± 2°C.
Nachdem der Mais in der unbehandelten Kontrolle eine Höhe von 15 cm erreicht hat, werden die Pflanzen abgeschnitten und gewogen. Das Frischgewicht ist der Massstab herbizider Wirkung und wird in % der Kontrolle ausgedrückt. Dosis-Wirkungskurven erlauben die Aufstellung der effektiven Dosis (ED 10-50).

2-[4-(4-Chlorphenoxymethyl)-phenoxy]-propionsäureme-thylester a) Eine Mischung aus 45 g (0,37 Mol) 4-Hydroxybenzal-20 dehyd, 111g (0,81 Mol) Kaliumcarbonat, 89 ml (0,81 Mol)
2-Brom-propionsäuremethylester und 300 ml Dimethyl-formamid wird unter Rühren 16 Stunden auf 60 °C erwärmt. Dann wird die Mischung auf 11 Wasser gegossen und mit Äther extrahiert. Die ätherische Lösung wird mit 1 n Kali-25 lauge und mit Wasser gewaschen, getrocknet und eingedampft. Der Rückstand (55 g Öl) kann über eine Kieselgelsäule (Laufmittel Chloroform) gereinigt werden.
b) 44 g (0,211 Mol) 2-(4-Formylphenoxy)-propionsäure-methylester werden in 500 ml Methanol gelöst und 8 g (0,211
30 Mol) Natriumborhydrid portionsweise eingetragen. Danach wird die Mischung 30 Minuten bei Raumtemperatur und 30 Minuten bei 60 °C gerührt. Nach dem Einengen in Vakuum auf die Hälfte des Volumens wird die Mischung auf Wasser gegossen, mit Salzsäure neutralisiert und mit Äther ex-35 trahiert. Nach dem Waschen, Trocknen und Eindampfen verbleiben 20 g farbloses Öl, das über eine Kieselgelsäule (Laufmittel Chloroform) gereinigt wird.
c) In 12 g (0,058 Mol) 2-(4-Hydroxymethylphenoxy)-pro-pionsäuremethylester, gelöst in 60 ml Hexamethylphosphor-
40 säuretriamid und auf minus 10 °C gekühlt, werden 4,4 ml (0,06 Mol) Thionylchlorid getropft. Danach wird die Mischung 30 Minuten bei 0 °C und eine Stunde bei 10 °C gerührt und anschliessend auf Wasser gegossen. Nach dem Extrahieren mit Äther wird die organische Phase mit Wasser, 45 Bicarbonatlösung und Wasser gewaschen, getrocknet und im Vakuum bei Raumtemperatur das Lösungsmittel entfernt.
d) Zu einer Lösung von 1,01 g Natrium in 80 ml Äthanol werden 5,7 g (0,044 Mol) 4-Chlorphenol und 10 g (0,044
so Mol) 2-(4-Chlormethylphenoxy)-propionsäuremethylester gegeben und die Reaktionsmischung unter Rühren und Rückfluss 6 Stunden erwärmt. Nach dem Abziehen des Lösungsmittels im Vakuum wird der Rückstand mit Wasser versetzt und mit Ähter extrahiert. Die ätherische Phase wird 55 mit 1 n Kalilauge und Wasser gewaschen, getrocknet und eingedampft. Der ölige Rückstand (11 g) wird über eine Kieselgelsäule (Laufmittel Benzol) gereinigt.

Beispiel 2
2-[4-(4-Chlorphenoxymethyl)-phenoxy]-propionsäure
Eine Mischung aus 6 g des nach Beispiel 1 erhaltenen Esters, 5 g Kaliumhydroxid und 60 ml Äthanol wird 2 Stun-65 den unter Rückfluss erhitzt. Nach dem Abziehen des Lösungsmittels im Vakuum wird der Rückstand mit Wasser behandelt und mit Essigester gewaschen. Die wässrig-alkali-sche Phase wird mit verdünnter Salzsäure angesäuert und die

ausgefallene Säure mit Essigester extrahiert. Die organische Phase wird getrocknet und eingedampft. Es verbleiben 5 g kristalliner Rückstand, der mit Hexan versetzt und abgesaugt wird.
Ausbeute: 3,8 g, Fp. 156-158 °C.
Beispiel 3
2-[4-(2,4-Dichlorphenoxymethyl)-phenoxy]-propionsäure-methylester
Man löst 2,3 g Natrium in 100 ml abs. Äthanol, gibt 26,9 g 4-(2,4-Dichlorphenoxymethyl)-phenol und 16,7 g 2-Brompropionsäuremethylester hinzu, kocht 3 Stunden und dampft ein. Nach üblicher Aufarbeitung mit Wasser und Chloroform erhält man die Titelverbindung in einer Ausbeute 80% d.Th.; Fp. 64 °C.
Beispiel 4
2-[4-(2,4-Dichlorphenoxymethyl)-phenoxy]-propionsäure 10 g des nach Beispiel 3 erhaltenen Esters werden mit 10 g Kaliumhydroxyid in 100 ml Äthanol 2 Stunden zum Sieden erhitzt. Man dampft ein, löst in Wasser, wäscht mit Äther und säuert mit Salzsäure an, wobei die Titelverbindung ausfällt.
Fp. 122-123 °C; Ausbeute 90% d.Th.
Beispiel 5
2-[4-(4-Chlorphenoxymethyl)-phenoxy]-propionsäureäthyl-
ester a) Eine Mischung von 34,8 g (0,37 Mol) Phenol, 111g (0,81 Mol) Kaliumcarbonat, 89 ml (0,69 Mol) 2-Brompro-pionsäureäthylester und 200 ml Äthanol wird 12 Stunden unter Rühren gekocht, anschliessend wird filtriert und destilliert. Es werden 44,2 g 2-Phenoxy-propionsäureäthylester, Kp. 93-94 °C/0,1 Torr, erhalten.
b) In einer Aufschlämmung von 9,6 g Paraformaldehyd in 40 ml konz. Salzsäure wird ein kräftiger Chlorwasserstoff-
s ström unter starkem Rühren eingeleitet, bis eine Lösung entstanden ist. Die Temperatur wird bei 15-20 °C gehalten. Zu dieser Lösung lässt man eine Lösung von 38,8 g (0,2 Mol) 2-Phenoxypropionsäureäthylester in 20 ml Benzol zulaufen und rührt 4 Stunden bei 15-20 °C. Anschliessend werden io 30 ml Benzol zugegeben und die organische Phase wird abgetrennt. Man schüttelt sie dreimal mit halbgesättigter wäss-riger Kochsalzlösung aus, trocknet dann über Natriumsulfat und destilliert das Benzol ab. Der Rückstand wird fraktioniert destilliert.
15 Ausbeute: 18 g; Kp. 134-138 °C/0,4 Torr.
c) Die weitere Umsetzung des erhaltenen Produkts mit 4-Chlorphenol entsprechend Beispiel 1 b) ergibt die Titelverbindung, Fp. 42 °C.

2-[4-(4-Chlorphenoxymethyl)-phenoxy]-propionsäure-2-(2,4,5-trichlorphenoxy)-äthylester
2,2 g 2-[4-(4-Chlorphenoxymethyl)-phenoxy]-propion-säuremethylester, 2,4 g 2-(2,4,5-Trichlorphenoxy)-äthanol 25 und 0,03 g Natrium werden bei 150 Torr. 4 Stunden auf etwa 120-150 °C erhitzt. Nach dem Abkühlen wird mit Aceton aufgekocht, die erkaltete Lösung filtriert und im Vakuum vom Lösungsmittel befreit. Der Rückstand wird aus Äthanol/Wasser umkristallisiert.
so Ausbeute 1,3 g (36% d.Th.); Fp. 83 °C.

6,4 g des nach Beispiel 1 erhältlichen Methylesters, 50 ml n-Butylalkohol und 0,03 g Natrium werden 4 Stunden unter Rückfluss gekocht. Nach Stehen über Nacht wird vom Niederschlag abgesaugt und das Filtrat im Vakuum zur Trockne eingedampft. Der Rückstand wird aus Äthanol/Wasser umkristallisiert.
Ausbeute 4,5 g (62% d.Th.); Fp. 66 °C.
Analog erhält man
2-[4-(4-ChIorphenoxymethyl)-phenoxy]-propionsäure-isobu-tylester, Fp. 75 °C;
2-[4-(4-Chlorphenoxymethyl)-phenoxy]-propionsäure-n-
amylester, Fp. 40 °C.
Beispiel 8
2-[4-(4-Chlorphenoxymethyl)-phenoxy]-propionsäureäthyl-
ester.
Man löst 5 g Natrium in 4000 ml Äthanol und gibt 2000 g des nach Beispiel 1 erhältlichen Methylesters zu. Anschliessend wurde ein halbe Stunde unter Rückfluss gekocht und dann über eine aufgesetzte Kolonne im Rücklauf-Entnahmeverhältnis ca. 10 : 1 Alkoholgemisch abdestilliert. Nach 3 Stunden wurde der Alkohol direkt abdestilliert und schliesslich das Lösungsmittel im Vakuum vollständig entfernt. Der Rückstand wird dann bei ca. 40 °C in 2000 ml To-luol verrührt und bei etwa gleicher Temperatur von den nicht gelösten Anteilen abfiltriert. Das Filtrat wird auf dem siedenden Wasserbad im Vakuum vom Lösungsmittel befreit und der Rückstand auf Bleche gegossen. Nach dem Erkalten und Anreiben beginnt sofort die Kristallisation. Ausbeute: 2015 g (96,6% d.Th.); Fp. 42 °C.
Beispiel 9
2-[4-(4-Chlorphenoxymethyl)-phenoxy]-propionsäureisopro-pylester
6,1 g 2-[4-(4-Chlorphenoxymethyl)-phenoxy]-propion-säure werden in 50 ml abs. Tetrahydrofuran gelöst und 3,2 g l,l'-Carbonyldiimidazol zugegeben. Die Mischung wird kurze Zeit erwärmt, dann 4 Stunden bei Raumtemperatur stehen gelassen und mit 2,4 g Isopropylallcohol versetzt. Das Gemisch wird eine Stunde unter Rückfluss gekocht, anschliessend im Vakuum am Rotationsverdampfer auf Rückstand eingeengt und der ölige Rückstand aus Äthanol/Wasser umkristallisiert.
Ausbeute: 4,5 g (65% d.Th.); Fp. 81 °C.
Analog erhält man die Verbindungen der Tabelle 2.

2-[4-(4-Chlorphenoxymethyl)-phenoxy]-propionsäureamid
Man löst 6,4 g des nach Beispiel 1 erhältlichen Methylesters unter Erwärmen in 100 ml Äthanol, setzt 50 ml konz. wässrige Ammoniaklösung zu und erwärmt langsam auf dem Wasserbad zum Sieden. Nachdem eine klare Lösung entstanden ist, werden weitere 20 ml der Ammoniaklösung zugegeben, bis eine Trübung auftritt, und die Mischung 30 Minuten unter Rückfluss gekocht. Nach dem Erkalten wird das Kristallisat abgesaugt und mit Äthanol/Wasser gewaschen.
Ausbeute: 3,5 g (57% d.Th.); Fp. 143 °C.

Beispiel 11
2-[4-(4-Chlorphenoxymethyl)-phenoxy]-propionsäuredi-äthylamid
Man löst 6,1 g der nach Beispiel 2 erhältlichen Propionsäure in 50 ml abs. Tetrahydrofuran, gibt 3,24 g 1,1 '-Carbonyldiimdazol zu und erwärmt. Nach ca. 4stündigem Stehen bei Raumtemperatur setzt man 1,5 g Diäthylamin zu. Man lässt die Mischung über Nacht stehen, verdampft dann das Lösungsmittel im Vakuum am Rotationsverdampfer und verrührt den Rückstand warm mit To-luol. Durch Anreiben wird das Imidazol zur Kristallisation gebracht. Man lässt 3 Stunden stehen, saugt ab und entfernt das Lösungsmittel im Vakuum. Der ölige Rückstand wird durch Verreiben mit Wasser zur Kristallisation gebracht. Ausbeute: 4,5 g (62% d.Th.); Fp. 52°C.
Bei der analogen Herstellung des 2-[4-(4-Chlorphenoxy-methyl)-phenoxy]-propionsäurecyclohexylamids wird bei der Aufarbeitung nach dem Abdestillieren des Tetrahydro-furans der Rückstand aus Äthanol/Wasser umkristallisiert. Ausbeute: 5,8 g (75% d.Th.); Fp. 138 °C.
Analog erhält man die Verbindungen der Tabelle 3.

2-[4-(4-Chlorphenoxymethyl)-phenoxy]-propionsäure-n-bu-tylamid
6,4 g des nach Beispiel 1 erhältlichen Methylesters werden in 60 ml Methanol gelöst und mit 6,0 g Butylamin versetzt. Anschliessend wird im Autoklav 4 Stunden bei einem Druck von 15-16 atü erhitzt. Nach dem Erkalten wird im Vakuum das Lösungsmittel abdestilliert und der Rückstand aus Äthanol umkristallisiert.
Ausbeute: 2,8 g (39% d.Th.); Fp. 98 °C.
Analog erhält man das
1-[4-(4-Chlorphenoxymethyl)-phenoxy]-propionsäurephe-nylhydrazid, Fp. 144 °C.
Beispiel 13
2-[4-(4-Chlorphenoxymethyl)-phenoxy]-propionsäureanilid 6,1 g der nach Beispiel 2 erthältlichen Säuren, 2,38 g
Phenylisocyanat und 50 ml abs. Toluol werden zusammengegeben und 3 Stunden unter Rückfluss erhitzt. Anschliessend wird das Toluol im Vakuum abdestilliert und der Rückstand aus Äthanol umkristallisiert.
Ausbeute: 3,5 g (46% d.Th.); Fp. 126 °C.

2-[4-(4-Chlorphenoxymethyl)-phenoxy]-propionsäureäthyl-merkaptoäthylester 6,4 g des nach Beispiel 1 erhältlichen Methylesters und 2,12 g 2-Äthylmerkaptoäthanol werden auf dem Ölbad auf 100 °C erhitzt, dann werden 0,02 g Natrium zugegeben und die Mischung 5 Stunden auf 150 °C erhitzt, wobei zeitweilig der Druck auf etwa 150 Torr gesenkt wird. Das Reaktionsprodukt wird als Öl isoliert.
Ausbeute: 6,0 g (76% d.Th.)
Beispiel 15
2-[4-(4-ChlorphenoxymethyI)-phenoxy]-propionsäurethio-octylester
Man setzt 6,1 g der nach Beispiel 2 erhältlichen Säure in 50 ml Tetrahydrofuran mit 3,24 g 1,1 '-Carbonyldiimidazol unter Erwärmen um und lässt 4 Stunden bei Raumtemperatur stehen. Anschliessen werden 2,92 g Octylmercaptan zugegeben und die Mischung eine Stunde unter Rückfluss gekocht. Nach dem Abdestillieren des Lösungsmittels wird v/arm mit Äthanol/Wasser ausgeschüttelt. Das abgetrennte Öl wird im Vakuum getrocknet.
Ausbeute: 5,5 g (63% d.Th.)
Beispiel 16
2-[4-(Chlorphenoxymethyl)-phenoxy]-propionhydroxam-
säure
1,4 g Hydroxylaminhydrochlorid, gelöst in 30 ml Methanol, werden mit 20 ml 1 n Natriummethylatlösung versetzt und ca. 5 Minuten in ein Eisbad gestellt. Anschliessend wird das Natriumchlorid abgesaugt und das Filtrat zu einer Lösung von 6,4 g des nach Beispiel 1 erhältlichen Methylesters in 30 ml Methanol gegeben. Die Mischung wird durchgeschüttelt und nochmals mit 20 ml 1 n Natriummethylatlösung versetzt. Man lässt über Nacht stehen, engt im Vakuum auf etwa 10 ml ein, nimmt in Wasser auf und säuert mit 2 n Salzsäure an. Das ausgeschiedene Reaktionsprodukt wird abgesaugt.
Ausbeute: 4,8 g (75% d.Th.); Fp. 142°C.
Beispiel 17
2-[4-(4-Chlorphenoxymethyl)-phenoxy]-propionhydroxam-säuremethylester Die nach Beispiel 16 erhaltene Hydroxamsäure wird unter Zusatz von Kalilauge mit Dimethylsulfat bei Raumtemperatur umgesetzt. Die dabei entstehende Titelverbindung wird aus Toluol umkristallisiert.
Ausbeute: 68% d.Th.; Fp. 114—115°C.
Beispiel 18
2-[4-(4-Chlorphenoxymethyl)-phenoxy]-propionsäureme-thylester
6,1 g 2-[4-(4-ChIorphenoxymethyl)-phenoxy]-propion-säure werden in einer Lösung von 0,96 g Natriumhydroxid in 30 ml Wasser gelöst. Die Lösung wird mit 3,02 g Dimethylsulfat versetzt. Nach 10 Minuten werden unter Rühren 0,5 g Natriumhydrogencarbonat eingetragen. Man rührt 6 Stunden bei Raumtemperatur, lässt über Nacht stehen und saugt ab. Der Rückstand wird nach dem Trocknen mit Toluol heiss verrührt und nach dem Abkühlen filtriert. Das Filtrat befreit man im Vakuum vom Lösungsmittel. Der ölige Rückstand kristallisiert nach dem Erkalten.
Ausbeute 3,5 g (55% d.Th.); Fp. 76 °C.
Beispiel 19
2-[4-(4-Chlorphenoxymethyl)-phenoxy]-propionsäureäthyl-
ester a) Eine Lösung von 23 g (1 Mol) Natrium in 400 ml Methanol wird bei Raumtemperatur mit 108 g (1 Mol) 4-Me-

thylphenol versetzt. Die entstandene Lösung lässt man 2 Stunden in der Siedehitze reagieren und destilliert im Was-serstrahlpumpenvalcuum das Lösungsmittel ab. Der Rückstand wurde mit ca. 400 ml Toluol aufgeschlämmt, filtriert 5 und im Vakuum eingedampft. Die Lösung des so erhaltenen Natriumsalzes in 800 ml Tetrahydrofuran wird innerhalb von 30 Minuten unter Rühren mit 181 g (1 Mol) 2-Brom-propionsäureäthylester versetzt. Die Mischung wird 6 Stunden unter Rückfluss erhitzt und bei Raumtemperatur über io Kieselgur abgesaugr. Nach dem Waschen mit Tetrahydro-furon, Trocknen über Natriumsulfat und Eindampfen im Wasserstrahlvakuum verbleiben 248 g hellbraunes Öl, es wird über eine Kolonne im Ölpumenvakuum destilliert. Ausbeute: 201,5 g (96,7% d.Th.); Kp. 78-82 °C/0,11 Torr, ls b) 20,8 g (0,1 Mol) 2-(4-Methylphenoxy)-propionsäure-äthylester werden in 60 ml Chloroform gelöst und zum Sieden erhitzt. Zu dieser Lösung gibt man innerhalb von 2 Stunden eine Lösung aus 6,8 ml (0,125 Mol) Brom in 20 ml Chloroform. Dabei wird mit einer 200-Watt-Lampe be-2o strahlt und intensiv gerührt. Die Geschwindigkeit der Bromzugabe wird so geregelt, dass die Reaktionslösung annähernd farblos bleibt. Man lässt eine Stunde in der Siedehitze nachreagieren und kühlt auf Raumtemperatur ab. Die abgekühlte Lösung wird mit Eiswasser, dann mit kalter 25 Natriumbicarbonatlösung und nochmals mit Eiswasser gewaschen. Nach dem Trocknen und Eindampfen verbleiben 31,5 g hellbraunes Öl, das über eine Kolonne im Ölpumpen-vakuum fraktioniert wird.
Ausbeute: 71% d.Th.; Kp. 117-124 °C/0,14 Torr. 30 Die Bromierang kann auch in folgender Weise durchgeführt werden:
c) 17 g (0,08 Mol)2-(4-Methylphenoxy)-propionsäure-äthylester und 0,2 g 2,2'-Azo-bis-(2-methylpropionitril) werden in 100 ml Chloroform gelöst und zum Sieden erhitzt. Zu
35 dieser Lösung gibt man innerhalb von 45 Minuten die Hälfte einer Lösung aus 5,4 ml Brom in 20 ml Chloroform. Man kühlt dann auf ca. 40 °C ab, setzt nochmals 0,2 g Katalysator und in der Siedehitze dann den Rest der Bromlösung zu. Man lässt 2 Stunden in der Siedehitze nachreagieren und 40 kühlt auf Raumtemperatur ab. Die rotbraune Lösung wird dreimal mit 100 ml gesättigter Natriumhydrogencarbonat-lösung ausgeschüttelt, die Natriumhydrogencarbonatlösung zweimal mit je 50 ml Methylenchlorid ausgeschüttelt und die vereinigten organischen Extrakte werden über Natrium-45 sulfat getrocknet. Das Lösungsmittel wird im Wasserstrahlvakuum abdestilliert und der flüssige Eindampfrückstand im Ölpumpenvakuum fraktioniert.
Ausbeute: 70% d.Th.; Kp. 128-134 °C/0,2 Torr.
d) Eine Lösung aus 2,3 g (0,1 Mol) Natrium in 100 ml so Äthanol wird bei Raumtemperatur mit 12,8 g (0,1 Mol)
4-Chlorphenol versetzt. Man lässt die erhaltene Lösung bei Siedetemperatur reagieren und setzt nach Abkühlen auf Raumtemperatur unter gutem Rühren eine Lösung von 28,7 g (0,1 Mol) 2-(4-Brommethylphenoxy)-propionsäure-55 äthylester in 20 ml Äthanol zu. Die Mischung wird einige Stunden zum Sieden erhitzt, auf Raumtemperatur abgekühlt und über Kieselgur abgesaugt. Nach dem Eindampfen wird der viskose Rückstand mit 100 ml Isopropyläther aufgeschlämmt und über Kieselgur abgesaugt. Das Filtrat wird 6o eingedampft und der Rückstand im Ölpumpenvakuum destilliert.
Ausbeute: 71% dTh.; Kp. 185-190 °C/0,1 Torr.
Beispiel 20
65 2-[4-(4-Chlorphenoxymethyl)-phenoxy]-propionsäure
Zu einer intensiv gerührten Lösung aus 300 ml Äthanol und 37 g gemahlenem Kaliumhydroxid wird eine Lösung aus 42,8 g (0,128 Mol) des nach Beispiel 19 herstellbaren
Äthylesters in 60 ml Äthanol zugegeben. Man lässt 30 Minuten bei Raumtemperatur und 3 Stunden in der Siedehitze reagieren. Nach dem Abziehen des Lösungsmittels im Vakuum wird der Rückstand in 300 ml Wasser aufgenommen und mit verdünnter Salzsäure schwach angesäuert. Das ausgefallene Produkt wird abgesaugt, mit Wasser gewaschen und getrocknet.
Ausbeute: 37,3 g (96% d.Th.); Fp. 155 °C.
Beispiel 21
2-[4-(4-Chlorphenoxymethyl)-phenoxy]-propionsäureäthyl-
ester a) 24,8 g (0,2 Mol) 4-Hydroxybenzylalkohol, 39,8 g (0,22 Mol) 2-Brompropionsäureäthylester, 61g (0,44 Mol) gepulvertes Kaliumcarbonat und 200 ml Aceton werden 10 Stunden unter Rühren zum Rückfluss erhitzt. Man saugt von ungelöster und ausgefallener Substanz ab und destilliert das Aceton am Rotationsverdampfer ab. Der Rückstand wird fraktioniert destilliert.
Ausbeute: 26,3 g (59% d.Th.); Kp. 143-147 °C/0,1 Torr.
b) 26 g (0,116 Mol) der nach a) erhaltenen Verbindung werden in 100 ml abs. Toluol gelöst. Man kühlt die Lösung auf —10 C ab und tropft bei dieser Temperatur unter Rühren 8,8 ml (0,116 Mol) Thionylchlorid zu. Anschliessend wird eine halbe Stunde bei 0 °C, dann noch eine Stunde bei 10 C gerührt. Der Ansatz wird dann auf 400 ml Wasser gegossen, die Toluolschicht abgetrennt und die wässrige Schicht mit 100 ml Äther ausgeschüttelt. Die organischen Phasen werden vereinigt und mit Wasser, Natriumhydrogen-earbonatlösung und nochmals mit Wasser ausgeschüttelt. Man trocknet die organische Lösung über Natriumsulfat und destilliert das Lösungsmittel ab.
Ausbeute 26 g.
c) Man löst 2,5 g (0,11 Mol) Natrium in 100 ml Äthanol, setzt 12,9 g (0,1 Mol) 4-Chlorphenol zu und gibt nach ca. 15 Minuten 24,3 g (0,1 Mol) des nach Absatz b) erhaltenen

Rohprodukts zu. Der Ansatz wird 9 Stunden unter Rückfluss gekocht. Man filtriert vom ausgefallenen Natriumchlorid ab und destilliert das Lösungsmittel am Rotationsverdampfer. Der Rückstand wird in Äther gelöst, mit Wasser, 5 1 n Natronlauge und wieder mit Wasser gewaschen. Man trocknet die ätherische Lösung über Natriumsulfat und engt ein. Das Reaktionsprodukt kann durch fraktionierte Destillation gereinigt werden.
Ausbeute: 13 g (39% d.Th.); Kp. 190-200 °C/0,1 Torr.

Beispiel 22
2-[4-(4-Chlorphenoxymethyl)-phenoxy]-propan-l-ol 2,0 g Lithiumaluminiumhydrid werden mit 50 ml absolutem Tetrahydrofuran versetzt. Unter Rühren tropft man 15 eine Lösung von 16,04 g (50 mMol) 2-[4-(4-Chlorphenoxy-methyl)-phenoxy]-propionsäuremethylester zu. Anschliessend wird 1 Stunde am Rückfluss gekocht. Man lässt abkühlen und gibt eine Mischung von 20 ml Tetrahydrofuran und 20 ml Wasser tropfenweise zu. Der entstehende Brei wird zur 20 Lösung des ausgefallenen Aluminiumhydroxids mit einer ausreichenden Menge 2 n Salzsäure versetzt, das Lösungsmittel wird im Vakuum abdestilliert. Der Rückstand wird aus Methanol/Wasser umkristallisiert.
Ausbeute 12,1 g (83% d.Th.); Fp. 86°C.

Beispiel 23
2-[4-(2,4-Dichlorphenoxymethyl)-phenoxy]-propanol Man löst 23 g Natrium in 100 ml absolutem Äthanol,
trägt 26,9 g 4-(2,4-Dichlorphenoxymethyl)-phenol ein, tropft 30 9,45 g 2-Chlor-propanol hinzu und kocht das Gemisch 12 Stunden. Es wird eingedampft, der Rückstand mit Wasser versetzt und die wässrige Lösung mit Äther extrahiert. Die Ätherlösung wird gewaschen, über Natriumsulfat getrocknet und eingedampft. Man erhält (2-[4-(2,4-Dichlorphenoxyme-35 thyl)-phenoxy]-propanol vom Fp. 34—35 °C;
Ausbeute 70% d.Th.

1. Herbizide Mittel, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass sie als aktive Komponente eine Verbindung der Formel I

2. Herbizide Mittel nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass sie einen weiteren herbiziden Wirkstoff enthalten.
