Abstract

The present invention relates to electric circuitry for applying different supply voltages to a synchronous a.c. motor 5 for driving a clock. The voltages are applied via a series resistor, which consists of a PTC resistor 10 that is bridged by a capacitor 9. In that circuitry, a motor is used that is designed for a supply voltage of or below 24 volts. If the supply voltage is low (24 volts), the PTC resistor will have a low resistance and for this reason exerts no influence. If the supply voltage is high (220 volts), the PTC voltage will have a high resistance so that the motor current is mainly controlled by the capacitor.
