in that the drive means are controlled independently with respect to the reciprocating control of said inking unit (1) and in that said drive means act on the rotational movement of said touch rollers ( 2, 3 and 4), when these cease to be actuated by the linear movement of said inking unit (1).
3. 4. Device according to claim 3, characterized in that the trapezoidal belt (31) passes around a driving pulley (33) and three rollers (35) spaced from each other by a distance substantially equal to the spacing between said touch rollers (2, 3 and 4), said rollers (35) each having the same diameter.
The present invention relates to a method and a device for permanently guaranteeing the constant thickness of the ink film on the touching rollers of the inking unit of a flat offset press comprising a bench supporting a carrier marble. - plate and a printing plate above which the inking unit moves linearly in a reciprocating movement used to rotate the touch rollers of said inking unit. Such flat offset presses are well known to date.
They generally consist of a bench formed by two lateral frames above which an inking unit moves. The linear movement of the inking unit is used to rotate all the cylinders of said inking unit. To achieve this effect, the side frames of the press bench are provided, at their upper part, with a friction rail cooperating with one or more friction wheels fixed to the end of one of the cylinders of the unit. inking. Thus, during the linear displacement of said inking unit in one direction or the other, there is drive of the cylinders of the unit. Another solution is to replace the rail and the friction wheel with a rack and a toothed pinion.
Flat offset presses of this type work as follows: at the start of the work cycle, the rollers of the inking unit draw ink from a stationary inkwell mounted in the press bench. The inking unit is then moved linearly in the direction of a flat plate fixed on a plate-holder marble located after an imprint marble
if we. The inking unit passes over the plate which then undergoes wetting and inking and then stops at the end of the race above a wetting station consisting of a tank equipped with rou
leaux transmitting the wetting liquid to the wetting cylinders placed in the inking unit when stopping at the end of the stroke.
The return stroke is used to ink the blanket of the inking unit and, a sheet having been placed on the printing plate, said blanket will transfer the image to said sheet. This procedure therefore requires a stop for a few moments at the end of the forward travel of the inking unit. At this time, the rollers of the inking unit are no longer rotated, since their movement is a function of the linear displacement of said inking unit. Due to the pressure at the different contact lines between the rollers and the viscosity of the ink, there is an accumulation of ink and a lack of ink on the contact lines in the vicinity of the contact lines of the touching rollers. contact.
During the return stroke of the inking unit, this lack of ink is transferred to the plate, then to the blanket, and finally to the sheet to be printed, producing on it undesirable lines rendering the proof unacceptable. so
obtained.
The object of the invention is to eliminate these drawbacks by preventing the formation of ink beads on the touching rollers of the inking unit of the flat offset press. To this end, the method and the device according to the invention are characterized by claims 1 and 2, respectively.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, an embodiment of a device according to the invention.
Fig. 1 is a schematic view showing the distribution of the ink around the cylinders of the inking unit,
fig. 2 is a general side view of a flat offset press,
fig. 3 is a side view of the auxiliary drive of the rollers of the inking unit, and
fig. 4 is a section on IV-IV of FIG. 3.
Fig. 1 is a schematic view showing the distribution of the ink around the rollers of the inking unit.
The inking unit 1 comprises three touch rollers 2, 3, respectively 4, two movable grinding rollers 5 and 6 animated, during their rotation, with a side-to-back movement, of three fixed grinding rollers 7 , 8 and 9 and a loading roller 10. These different rollers are connected together by a gear train (not shown), the pinions of which are fixed to the ends of each of said rollers. The linear movement of the inking unit I is transformed, by means of friction rails 11 and friction wheels 12, mounted on the shaft of the touch roller 2, into a rotary movement applied to said touch roller 2.
The rollers of the inking station 1 having been previously charged with ink in the inking station 13 of the press (see fig. 2) are represented in this figure in the position which they occupy at the end of the outward travel the inking unit 1, that is to say when said unit is located above the wetting station 14 (see FIG. 2). At this instant, the inking unit 1 is stopped for a few moments and, as a result, the rollers 2 to 10 are immobilized. This immobilization causes the ink to reflux on the contact lines 15, 16, 17 and 18 between the touch rollers 2, 3 and 4 and the mobile grinding rollers 5 and 6. The ink, by its viscosity, flows back contact lines 15, 16, 17 and 18 by forming beads 19 and 20 on the touch rollers 2, 3 and 4. The regularity of the ink film is thus interrupted around said touch rolls 2, 3 and 4.
During the return stroke, in the direction of arrow 21 of the inking unit, these ink marks at the location of the contact lines 15, 16, 17 and 18, as well as the excess ink due to the beads 19 and 20 will not be able to equalize and will cause, by postponement, badly inked zones 22, 23, 24 and 25 on the plate 26. These badly inked zones 22, 23, 24 and 25 will be transferred to the cylinder-holder blanket 27 (see fig. 2) and from there on the sheet you wish to print. Fig. 3 is a side view of the auxiliary drive of the rollers of the inking unit 1. This auxiliary drive is placed at the end of the side frames 28 of the offset press 29 (see fig. 2) in a position such as soon as
the friction wheels 12 have left their respective friction rails 11, the friction wheels 30 come into contact with the V-belts 31. Each of the V-belts 31 is driven in the direction of the arrow 32 by driving pulleys 33 mounted on a shaft 34. Each trapezoidal belt 31 is supported, in the upper part of its trajectory, by the rollers 35. The rollers 35 are mounted on trunnions 36 fixed in brackets 37 and 38.
The brackets 37 and 38 are screwed onto a base plate 39 fixed between the two lateral frames of the press; when they are linked together, they constitute the press bench. The base plate 39 is provided with two tabs 40 in which are arranged two bearings 41 supporting the shaft 34. The shaft 34 is equipped with a toothed pulley 42 connected by the toothed belt 43 to the toothed driving pulley 44 fixed on the shaft of a gear motor 45. This gear motor 45 is mounted on a base 46 having a pivot point 47 secured to the base plate 39. One end of the base 46 is provided with a stud 48 in which is fixed a tensioner 49. The tension of the toothed belt 43 is effected by acting on the nuts 50 and 51 which bear against the base plate 39.
The motor-reducer 45 can be driven constantly, even when the inking unit does not occupy the position shown in phantom in FIG. 2.
Fig. 4 is a section on IV-IV of FIG. 3 and represents the arrangement, across the width of the press, of the various elements described in FIG. 3. Due to the fact that the friction wheels 30 are in contact with the V-belts 31, as soon as the friction wheels 12 have left the friction rails 11, the continuous drive of the rollers of the inking unit 1 will be ensured and, by this, the ink will be distributed equally on the circumference of said rollers at the moment when these will transfer the ink to the plate 26. An alternative embodiment could use toothed belts in place of the V-belts 31.
