Abstract
The sapphire or tempered mineral glass (1) has a peripheral surface (3) which is parallel to its axis. It is force-fitted into the notch in the crystal of the calibre (2). This notch in the crystal is formed of a re-entrant bevelled face (8) and an annular shoulder (7). The glass (1) is held in place by a lump of glue (11) which is fitted between the edge (3) and the face (8) where it forms a wedge ensuring the retention of the glass. Use is made of a glue which adheres strongly to the glass, but hardly adheres to the metal of the calibre. To ensure waterproofing, an O-ring gasket (10) is interposed in the lower corner of the notch in the crystal and is squashed on the shoulder (7). <IMAGE>
