Abstract

The plastic bottom (1) of the watch casing has, in the area of the battery, an opening (7) in whose boundary wall a metal ring (4) consisting of brass and having an inner thread (6) is potted. A steel screw cover (3) which, with the interposition of a resilient O ring (2), is screwed firmly into this metal ring (4), ensures perfect water tightness of the watch housing. In this way, a very robust and virtually wear-free screw connection is formed from metallic parts of different hardness. Instead of a separate O ring it is also possible to have an annular flange formed on the plastic bottom wall bounding the hole (7), which flange is clamped between the metal ring (4) and the screw cover (3) when the latter is screwed tight. <IMAGE>
