Description

The present invention relates to an adjustable wall-mounted shower support of the type comprising a vertical rod fixed in a wall of a shower cubicle or of a bathroom above a bathtub on which slides a body which can be fixed. to this rod at will in various positions, this support comprising a shower holder removably receiving the shower itself.

Such shower supports are known from documents CH 651 609, CH 598 444 or DE-OS

2,535,891 for example. All these devices require a clamping member, screw, eccentric or elastic, independent to fix the service position chosen by the user of the support along the rod.

In such systems, the clamping mechanisms of the support on the rod easily clog with soapy water and often lead to mechanical complexity making the shower support more expensive.

The present invention aims to achieve a shower support as defined above which is simpler, more reliable and less expensive.

The present invention relates to a shower support as defined and claimed in claim 1.

The attached drawing illustrates schematically and by way of example an embodiment of the support for an adjustable wall shower according to the invention.

Fig. 1 is an overall side view of the wall support.

Figs. 2, 3 are sections on a larger scale along a vertical plane illustrating two positions of the clamping mechanism.

Fig. 4 is a partial section of the support along a horizontal plane.

The embodiment of the adjustable wall support for shower comprises a rod 1 arranged vertically in this example and rigidly fixed to the wall or to the wall of a shower cabin or a bathroom above a bathtub. using end caps or sealing members 2 themselves rigidly fixed to said wall.

This shower holder still has a body

3 slidably mounted on the rod 1. To avoid any squeaking or seizing, the through orifice of this body 3, receiving the rod 1, is provided with a socket

4 made of synthetic material ensuring free and smooth sliding of the body 3 along this rod 1.

The body 3 comprises an axial recess 5 having a shoulder near the rod 1 opening on the one hand into the orifice of the body 3 receiving the rod and on the other hand at its free end.

In the recess 5, which is generally of cylindrical shape of circular section, is housed a clamping mechanism making it possible to fix the chosen axial position of the body along the rod 1.

This clamping mechanism comprises a friction pad 6, the end of which in contact with the rod 1 comprises ridges or countersinks to reduce the contact surface between these two elements. This brake shoe slides in the recess 5 of the body and is in abutment against the end of a spring 7, the other end of which is in contact with a plunger 8 also sliding in the recess 5 of the body 1.

This mechanism also comprises a truncated sphere 9 held in abutment against the pusher 8 by a washer 10 applied against the free face of the body 3 using a ring 11 screwed onto the end of said body. The truncated sphere 9 comprises a flat 12. This sphere is on the other hand secured to an arm 13 emerging from the body 3 through the ring 11 and carrying the member 14, fork or ring, receiving the spray 15.

The operation of the clamping mechanism of this support is as follows:

In the position illustrated in fig. 2, the plate 12 of the sphere 9 is in abutment against the pusher 8 so that the spring 7 is under reduced or zero tension, thus the friction force between the shoe 6 and the rod 1 is just sufficient to maintain the body 3 in its position along the rod 1 but that it can be moved easily by the user along this rod to adjust the height.

On the other hand, when the user lowers the arm 13, the member 14 receiving the shower, placing the latter in a position for which the shower 15 is in the normal operating position, the spherical part of the sphere 9 comes into contact with the pusher. 8, moving it in the direction of the brake shoe 6 and compressing the spring 7. In this position, illustrated in FIG. 3, the brake shoe 6 is strongly applied against the rod 1 and rigidly fixes the body 3 to the latter preventing any sliding of these two parts relative to each other.

The advantage of such an adjustable shower support is that the entire clamping mechanism is housed in the body 3, protected from dirt and also and above all that it is the member 14 receiving the hand shower 15 which constitutes it even the control member of the clamping mechanism.

Thus, this member 14, owing to the fact that it is integral with the truncated sphere 9, makes it possible, in the service position, to orient the spray head as desired by the user without modifying the tension of the clamping mechanism, the spherical portion of sphere 9 remaining in contact with the pusher 8. This same member 14 when it is tilted upwards by the user, in a position which in any case does not allow use of the spray head, releases the spring 7, the dish 12 coming into contact with the pusher 8 and loosens the mechanism thus allowing the body 3 to slide along the rod 1.

This clamping mechanism is therefore particularly simple and its operating member is constituted by the member carrying the spray, thus eliminating any specific control member for clamping.

Many variants are possible, for example, if the body 3 must not pivot around the rod 1 it can be polygonal and the orifice of the body 3 then has a corresponding shape.

Claims (7)

Claims 1. Adjustable wall shower support comprising a rod fixed in a wall and a body (3) slidably mounted along this rod (1) as well as a friction clamping mechanism locking the body (3) on the rod in a determined position, characterized by the fact that this tightening mechanism (6, 7, 8, 9) is entirely housed in the body (3) and by the fact that the operating member (12, 13, 14) controlling the tightening of this mechanism is constituted by the member (14) receiving a shower (15). 2. Support according to claim 1 characterized in that the body (3) has an axial recess (5) opening on the one hand at its free end and on the other hand into the opening of the body receiving the rod (1) , by the fact that the clamping mechanism, entirely housed in the body (3), comprises a braking pad (6) sliding in the recess (5) and bearing on the external surface of the rod (1), a spring (7) located between this brake shoe (6) and a pusher (8) sliding in said recess (5), and a truncated sphere (9) held in the recess (5) and in contact with the pusher (8 ) by a ring (11) screwed onto the free outside of the body (3). 3. Support according to claim 2 characterized in that a washer (10) is interposed between the truncated sphere (9) and the ring (11). 4. Support according to one of claim 2 or 3 characterized in that the truncated sphere (9) is integral with an arm (13) emerging from the body (3) through the ring (11), bearing arm the member (14) intended to receive a shower (15). 5. Support according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the opening of the body (3) giving passage to the rod (1) is provided with a plastic bushing (4). 6. Support according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the brake shoe (6) has ridges or recesses on its cylindrical face in contact with the rod (1). 7. Support according to one of claims 2 to 6 characterized in that the recess of the body (3) has a shoulder near its end provided with the opening receiving the rod (1) preventing the brake shoe ( 6) to leave the body (3) even when the latter is not engaged in the rod (1). 5 10 15 20 25 30 35 40 45 50 55 60 65 3
