Description
[0001] The present invention relates to a self-centering transmission belt, as described in detail, both in the aims and in the preferred type of use, in the previous Swiss patent application No. 01192/09 filed on July 30, 2009 by the inventor of the present invention with the title «Belt with arched section with a core of high-strength wires arranged along the central phase of its section and use of the belt for the operation of lifts». The present invention constitutes an improvement of the aforementioned previous application, the content of which is declared to be an integral part of the present patent application. Thus CH-01192/09 constitutes the state of the art of the present invention.
[0002] The inventor of the present invention has in fact realized that his previous solution to the problem posed, i.e. the fact of giving the belt an arched section while keeping the thickness of the belt constant over its entire width, still presented three problems. linked to the manufacture of the belt itself, which made it unnecessarily burdensome.
[0003] The first of these problems is given by the practical difficulty of having to place the wires or reinforcing cords in the central phase between the two surfaces of the arched belt, so that also the plane containing the wires must be arched. From the manufacturing point of view this necessity greatly complicates the production process, since it requires to realize a very precise guide of the single wires, respectively cords, during the melting phase of the plastic material of which the belt body is made.
[0004] Another point is then of an economic nature, since the belt with an arched section of the state of the art involves a greater amount of expensive plastic material, its thickness being unnecessarily constant over the entire width of the belt, from which a greater cost is derived of the belt.
[0005] The third reason is of a physical nature: the steel wires are not uniformly stressed, which results in a life of the lower belt compared to a flat belt.
[0006] The present invention eliminates these two disadvantages of the state of the art, providing that the belt according to the preamble of claim 1 possesses the characteristics of the characterizing part of claim 1.
[0007] The fact that the thickness of the self-centering belt is smaller in its central zone and increases on both sides, thus forming the arched work surface, allows the use of plastic material to be reduced, while the arrangement of the wires or cords of reinforcement in a plane parallel to the flat non-working surface (ie that which does not come into contact with any pulley) of the belt facilitates its manufacture and therefore reduces costs, as any skilled man specialized in the production of traditional flat belts knows.
[0008] The dependent claims, concerning the shape of the inventive belt and its particular use in the lift sector - preferably without counterweight - correspond essentially to some dependent claims of the aforementioned previous patent application, but have been adapted to the inventive characteristics of the new belt.
[0009] The invention is now described in more detail with the help of some examples of embodiment illustrated by way of example.
The figures show: <tb> - fig. 1 <sep> an area of the inventive belt curved over a pulley (not shown); <tb> - fig. 2 <sep> the belt area of fig. 1 view in the direction f of fig. 3; <tb> - fig. 3 <sep> the belt area of fig. 1 view in the direction m of fig. 2; <tb> - fig. 4 a variant of the inventive belt provided, on its work surface, with a toothing meshing in special cavities with which the pulley is provided; <tb> - fig. 5 is a preferred use of the inventive belt as a suspension belt of a lift car without a counterweight, according to the Swiss patent application No. CH-01192/09.
[0011] Fig. 1 shows the inventive transmission belt 1 curved over a pulley for deviating the direction of movement of the belt, not shown. Please note immediately that with a sheave deviating the direction of movement of the belt we mean here a sheave that must only cause a deviation of the belt up to 180 °, as well as a pulley which also has the task of transmitting to the belt, or of receiving from the belt , a twisting moment, ie a driving or driven pulley. The difference between these two functions of the belt / pulley torque depends particularly on the surface characteristics of the working surface of the belt (indicated with 2 in fig. 1) and of the pulley, ultimately on the friction coefficient and on the winding angle of the belt on the pulley, according to the known rules. What matters to the effects of the present invention is only the fact that the belt is self-centering, as known from CH-01192/09, thanks to the fact of having a concave or convex work surface 2 which, coming into contact with the work surface convex, respectively concave, of the pulley, causes its self-centering. We wish to emphasize here that all that is shown in fig. from 1 to 4 with the help of a belt with a concave work surface 2 (and therefore the working surface of the convex pulley (s)) it is similarly valid for the belt with convex working surface and surfaces of the concave pulley (s), solution not shown in the figures but also perfectly suitable to achieve the self-centering effect of the belt on the pulley.
[0012] The new aspect of the inventive belt is that the belt, with respect to that of the state of the art, does not have an arched section, since the non-working surface 3 is flat, and moreover that the plurality of wires or cords 4, 4 ́ ... 4 <n> lies in a plane gg parallel to the flat non-working surface 3 of the belt 1.
[0013] These are the two inventive features which allow to drastically reduce the production costs of the new self-centering belt with respect to that described in CH-01192/09, while maintaining all the good characteristics of the latter intact. Everyone knows that the market price, for similar consumer items such as transmission belts, play a decisive role.
[0014] La cinghia di trasmissione 1 della fig. 1è poi mostrata nelle fig. [0014] The transmission belt 1 of fig. 1 is then shown in figs. 2 and 3in two orthogonal representations, which allow to better see the arrangement of the wires or cords 4, 4 ́ ... 4 <n> in a plane g-g parallel to the flat non-working surface 3 of the belt 1.
[0015] According to a preferred embodiment of the invention (see Fig. 2) it is then provided that the ratio between the width L of the belt 1 and the height h of the arc formed by the work surface 2 is between 20 <l / h <2000, ideally between 500 <l / h <1000. The same ratio applies in the case (not shown) of self-centering drive belt with convex working surface.
[0016] If the transmission belt 1 is provided as an actuating or driven belt, that is able to transmit a torque to a pulley or to be subjected to a twisting moment by a pulley, it can be useful, in addition to the self-centering of the belt on the pulley as described in the previous CH-01192/09, avoid any sliding of the belt on the driving or driven pulley. For this purpose, according to a further embodiment of the invention, shown in fig. 4, the work surface 2 of the belt 1 can be provided with a toothing 5 essentially perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the belt 1. Naturally, in this case, the surface of the pulley 6 also has a negative toothing, consisting of the cavities 7 in which the teeth of the toothing can penetrate 5. Such a belt 1 will then be provided with self-centering and anti-slip properties, which can open innumerable fields of application to the belt. It goes without saying that there are other possibilities to improve the dragging qualities of a belt on a pulley, like all the measures (known to every man of the trade) aimed at increasing adhesion between two surfaces.
[0017] As regards the physical characteristics of the wires or cords 4, 4 ́ ... 4 <n> which constitute the core of the belt 1, the practice has shown that the same, or the same, must preferably be constituted (te) from continuous filaments of twisted steel with a diameter of the wires or cords 4, 4 ́ ... 4 <n> between 0.5 mm and 2 mm.
[0018] The practice has also shown that, to obtain ideal characteristics of the belt, the same, depending on the use for which it is used, can have a width L of between 20 mm and 100 mm, where then, for the most interesting use for which it was conceived (ie that of the operation of lifts without a counterweight) it has proved optimal to choose a width L between 30 and 70 mm.
[0019] A decisive role on the physical characteristics of the belt 1, ie tear resistance, stretch elongation, pliability, duration etc., then plays the distance f (see Fig. 1) between two wires or cords 4, 4 ́ ... 4 <n> neighbors, distance which, depending on the characteristics desired by the belt, can be between 1.5 and 5 mm and preferably, again for the aforementioned preferred use, between 2 and 3 mm .
[0020] La fig. 5 corrisponde perfettamente a quella pure indicata quale fig. [0020] Fig. 5 corresponds perfectly to the one also indicated as fig. 5 in the Swiss application No. 01192/09 cited as the pertinent state of the art. The purpose and function of the belt 1 of the present invention are perfectly equal to those described in the previous application, to which we therefore make therefore a complete reference, avoiding to repeat what has been described therein.
[0021] Also with reference to claims 8 to 10, reference is made herein to the previous patent application CH-01192/09, where such use is described for an arched belt which, in specific operation, corresponds perfectly to the belt 1 of the present invention.
