Description
Slab roof. The present invention relates to a roof made of cement slabs or any other weather-resistant material, placed directly on the rafters, which eliminates the need for paneling.
The accompanying drawing represents an embodiment of the object of the invention, given by way of example.
Fig. 1 is a perspective ledge of a roof fragment; fig. 2 is a plan view of a slab of which FIG. 3 is an elevation; fig. 4 is a section along the plane A of FIG. 1, and fig. 5 is one following the plane B of FIG. 1.
The rafters 1 of the roof are prepared in advance by assembling two pieces of wood l 'and 1 "bevelled at their upper part and connected at intervals by bolts 2, so as to form a single rafter whose upper part constitutes a groove in V.
The rafters thus formed are placed on the beams of the roof, at regular intervals with the V groove at the top. The bottom of the V groove is covered with a strip 3, of roofing felt and on the rafters thus prepared are placed the slabs 4, a particular shape of which is shown in fig. 2 to 5. The slabs 4 are made of cement, having on the lateral sides of the edges 5. with. which they rest in the V groove of the rafters 1. In the direction of the height of the slope of the roof, the lower slabs fit together by means of a rounded part 6, in the recesses 7 upper slabs.
To reinforce their thickness, the slabs have on their lower face two ribs arranged diagonally. The slabs thus arranged are jointed on all their sides by means of a cord 8, soaked in linseed oil tar, or another water-repellent material and stuffed in the interstices between the slabs. The interstices are then filled with cement 9 and the slabs are fixed by means of cap nails 10, dark in the rafters. To embed the heads of the nails flush with the tiles, the latter are provided in the corners with recesses 11. For low slopes, the tiles can be made without the interlocking 6 and 7; in that case; all the seals are similar to those shown in fig. 5.
The tiles can be made of other weather resistant materials, such as terracotta, for example, they can also be reinforced to offer greater resistance.
The main advantage of this construction resides in the elimination of the paneling as well as any tin trim used for the roofs in slabs laid on the paneling.
