Description

Loupe.

Magnifying glass. The object of the present invention is a magnifying glass which can be used for reading, comprising an elongated plano-convex glass block, in the form of a cylinder segment limited by a plane parallel to the axis, mounted on a support intended to be supported on the object to be examined with the help of the magnifying glass, for example a sheet of newspaper, so that, if one places the support above a test line, one will be able without moving the magnifying glass in read a length substantially equal to the length of the block.

The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the present invention.

Fig. 1 is a side view, FIG. 2 a top plan view, FIG. 3 an end view.

The magnifying glass shown has a support 1 made of sheet metal, having an opening 2 at the base and raised at right angles at both ends. The raised parts 3 of this support each present a notch 4, which is intended to receive the glass block 5, as well as a hook 6, the purpose of which is to prevent the block from moving in the longitudinal direction. Apart from the facets 7 captured by the hooks C ,, the block 5 has the shape of a cylinder segment; its lower face is flat and parallel to the axis of the cylinder; it is plano-convex, therefore magnifying, and is placed just above the opening 2.

When you want to use the magnifying glass, for example to read a text, it suffices to position it so that this text appears in the opening 2, since then it will be seen magnified through the glass block 5.

With regard to the magnification obtained, it is clear that its degree will vary with the curvature of the cylindrical surface of the block 5, but it should be noted on the other hand that it will also vary according to the distance which separates the block from the base of the support. This means that with the same block, we can obtain various magnifications. simply by adapting it to supports 1 whose distances between the support base and the bottom of the notches 4 are different.

CLAIM Magnifier usable for reading, comprising a block of elongated plano-convex glass in the shape of a cylinder segment limited by a plane parallel to the axis, mounted on a support intended for. be supported on the object to be examined with the help of the magnifying glass, the bearing surface being parallel to said plane, so that, if the support is placed above a line of text, we may without moving the magnifying glass read a length substantially equal to the length of the block.
