Description

Fuel supply for engines that are temporarily fed with compressed air. In internal combustion engines, which are used to propel flying machines and airmen and therefore have to work in alternating altitudes, one leads recently, when the apparatus is in greater height, the mixed air under pressure in order for the existing at greater altitudes lower density of air to compensate. If compressed air is used in this way, there is of course an overpressure in the intake manifold of the engine, while when the compressed air supply is switched off, i.e. when the engine is working at lower altitudes, there is negative pressure in the intake line due to the suction of the piston.

In order to supply the fuel in the correct manner, however, the pressure under which the fuel is located must always be higher than the pressure prevailing in the suction line of the engine. Therefore, when the engine is working at great heights, a fairly considerable delivery pressure for the fuel is necessary. In order not to have to constantly put the fuel tank under such a relatively high pressure, which can easily lead to inappropriateness, a pump is provided between the fuel tank and the suction line of the engine in the fuel line, welehe the fuel to the required for its supply Brings pressure.

Such a pressure pump connected to the fuel line is now expediently set up so that it is not necessary to decouple it, which, if no countermeasures are taken, results in the high pressure in question from the pump in the fuel line is constantly generated, regardless of whether there is negative pressure or positive pressure in the intake manifold of the engine.

Such a high fuel pressure can, however, if there is negative pressure in the Sang line of the engine, cause zri inconveniences, because in this case the fuel supply line for the fuel supply in the carburetor no longer works properly because the usual fuel needle no longer allows the supply able to interrupt and the fuel from the nozzle or elsewhere oozes out in an unintended manner.

To prevent this, a lockable bypass line is arranged according to the invention between the suction and pressure line of the fuel pump, the shut-off organ is brought into relation to a switching element in the air intake line of the engine. The purpose of the switching element in the air intake line of the motor is to either connect this line to the compressed air line coming from the compressor or to shut off the outlet line from the compressed air line and connect it to the outside air.

The switching element in the air intake line is now connected to the shut-off element in the bypass line of the fuel pump in such a way that the bypass line is shut off when compressed air is supplied to the engine and that the bypass line is open when the engine sucks in atmospheric air. If compressed air is supplied to the engine, the fuel pump will also take effect, while the open bypass line of the fuel pump allows the fuel to flow back from the pressure side of the pump to the suction side when the engine is sucking in atmospheric air and therefore the fuel pump is ineffective.

In the drawing, an execution example of the subject invention is provided.

The suction line a of the engine is connected to a compressor b through which compressed air is introduced into the carburetor c who can. In the line a a switching element is provided, by means of which either the connection between the compressor and the carburetor can be established or this connection can be canceled and the carburetor can be connected to the outside air.

The fuel is introduced from the fuel tank f through a line g, g1 into the float tank hr of the gasifier. A pressure pump i is connected between the line parts g, g1, which puts the fuel under such a high pressure that the pressure with which the fuel is conveyed into the carburetor is higher than the pressure generated by the supply of compressed air the compressor b is generated in the carburetor. The pump i is driven by the motor in a manner not shown.

Between the suction line g and the pressure line g1 of the pump i, a bypass line k is switched on, in which there is a blocking path k1. This shut-off path k1 is connected to the switching element c7 in the suction line a in such a way that when the carburetor c is connected to the compressor b, i.e. when compressed air is fed into the gasifier, the shut-off valve k 'in the bypass line kc is closed, so that the pump i takes effect and introduces the fuel under the required pressure into the float tank h

If, on the other hand, the carburetor c is shut off from the compressor b by the switching element d and brought into contact with the outside air, the shut-off valve k1 in the bypass line kc is open, so that the fuel delivered by the pump i on the pressure side through the ambient line k can flow back to the suction side and therefore the pump does not increase the delivery pressure of the fuel.

The connection between the two switching elements d and k 'is not particularly shown in the drawing. since they are naturally ingenious: according to the position of these parts in relation to one another, and can be carried out in the most varied of ways.
