Electric pocket torch. The object of the invention is an electric pocket torch.
This lamp comprises a housing made up of two parts, one of which is fixed to the other by interlocking, the part forming the bottom of the housing serving to hold in place a spring to support the battery, this spring being carried by the other part. of the housing which also carries a reflector in which a bulb is screwed and which is fixed thereto by means of a frame also serving to fix a lens, this frame being retained to the housing by at least two screws, this part of the housing also bearing a switch.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a vertical section through a plane parallel to the face of the housing; Fig. 2 is a cross section thereof; Fig. 3 is a plan view from above. The electric flashlight is constituted by a casing or box a. flattened in shape. At its lower part, this casing is narrowed at b over a certain height so as to allow the external interlocking of the bottom c which fits over this casing by force and is thus held in place.
In the narrowed part b of the housing are formed two notches d in which is housed a spring e in the form of a stirrup, the base e 'of which is slightly curved upwards. The ends of the branches of the stirrup e are bent at right angles and penetrate into the slots f made at the top of the notches d. By this assembly., We obtain an elastic support against which comes to rest the lower end of the dry cell y which, at its upper part, carries the two contact blades h i, and the spring e is held in place by the part c fitted on the part a.
At its upper part, the casing ac and provided with an oval hole on the edge of which are formed two extra thicknesses j provided with tapped holes for the screws le. In the oval hole made in the casing is formed fit the reflector l, the upper edge of which is folded down in m to rest against the edge of this hole.
At its lower part, the reflector l is provided with a threaded tube o into which the incandescent bulb h is screwed, the lower end of which q comes to bear against the spring blade lt. Above the rim 7n is placed a frame r pierced with two holes corresponding to those made in the extra thicknesses j. This frame r holds the lens s and is secured to the housing a by the two screws le referred to above. It can be seen that the assembly of the bulb and the condenser is thus held simply by screws.
It is understood that the reflector 1 could be either of circular shape or of: oval shape.
The switch is arranged, as seen in fig. 1; on the side of the device. It consists of a roller t of insulating material, which can rotate around an axis as, one end of which carries a countersunk head x and the other end of which is threaded in J and receives a hollow screw z. Through this roller t passes a metal plate l provided with an oval hole v through which passes the axis z t.
The plate 1 also passes through two openings made in a curved flat spring 2 which acts on the one hand on a metal plate 3 placed on the periphery of the roller t and on the other hand on a shoulder 5 of the plate. 1 so as to bring the lower bottom of the notch v into contact with the axis ii, position in which the lower end of the metal plate l does not touch the curved blade i of the stack , the shoulder being housed in the round hole at the end of the slot 4.
Around part of the roller t is mounted the curved metal plate 3. The plate 1 passes through a slot 4 made in the housing a-; this plate, like moreover the plate 3 which partially surrounds the insulating roller t, are connected to the bundle with which is also connected one of the ends said filament of the lamp. It can be seen that, under these conditions, the operation of the lamp will take place when either the wafer 1 or the plate 3 is brought into contact with the plate z.
When the plate 1 is in the position shown in FIG. 1, that is to say in an opening 6 located at the upper end of the slot 4, the spring 2 moves the plate away from the blade i. Ignition is then produced by pressing with your thumb on the plate 1 so as to bring its lower end into contact with the blade i; as soon as the action of the finger stops, the spring 2 will cause the plate 1 to move away from the blade i.
If you want the lamp to operate continuously, without requiring the permanent action of the finger, after pressing on the end of the plate in order to disengage the shoulder 5 from the opening 6, the 'switch assembly according to arrow 7, so as to bring the upper end of the plate 1 to the bottom of the notch 4. In this position, the shoulder 5 is supported by the spring 2 against the wall of the case, the metal plate 3 comes into contact with the blade i, the bulb will light up and stay on as long as the switch remains in the position indicated.
When you want to turn off the lamp, it suffices to return the plate 1 to the position indicated in fig. 1, that is to say in the opening 6 and the spring 2 moves the plate 1 away from the blade i.
It is understood that the lamp may externally affect any suitable shape and that its dimensions may vary.
