Description

Safety device for closing device such as lock, bolt etc. The object of the present invention is a safety device for a closing device such as a lock, bolt etc., the accompanying drawing of which shows, by way of example, an embodiment suitable for a lock.

Fig. 1 shows the open lock, FIGS. 2 and 3 with the lock closed, but in these two figures the position of certain elements differs.

The bolt 1 of the lock can be actuated by known means, as in ordinary locks. It has a shoulder 2 against the upper end of which can be applied the lug 3 of a lever 4 capable of pivoting about a screw 5 fixing it to the support plate 6 of the lock. A spring 7 fixed to the lever 4 and which abuts upwards against a plate 8 'fixed to the flange 8 thereof tends to cause the lever 4 to pivot in the opposite direction <1, that of clockwise movement. On the other hand, this lever is provided with a finger 9. A lever with two arms 10 and 11 is fixed to the support plate 6 by means of a screw 12, around which it can pivot.

The lower arm 10 is integral with a soft iron plate 13 which constitutes the frame of an electromagnet 18 also carried by the support plate 6. The other arm I1 is established so that the free end can rest. in one or the other of the notches 1.1 and 15 which carries at its upper part a support 16 fixed <r, the support plate 6 by a screw 16 'around which it can pivot. A spring attached to the support plate 6 tends to rotate the support 16 in a counterclockwise direction.

The electromagnet 18 is connected by two insulated conductor wires 19 to two terminals 210. These two terminals are in turn connected to an electric line not shown in the drawing.

The operation of the lock is as follows: When it is open, the various aforementioned members have the position they occupy in FIG. 1, that is to say that the lever 4 is raised, even lug 3 resting on the upper edge of the bolt 1, and that the arm 11 rests in the notch 14 of the support 16. The arm 10 remains away from the latch. magnet 18 by the fact that no current is sent in it and that, therefore evening armature 13 is not attracted. 8i now we close the lock, we have the arrangement shown in fig. ?.

The front bolt has been pushed to the left, the lever 4 is lowered under the action of the spring 7 when its lug has passed the shoulder 2 behind which it has taken place, thereby constituting a stop which prevents bring the father to the right, that is to say to reopen the lock. To be able to do this, we send, by acting on a switch placed on the electric line under tension connected to the terminals 20, of the current in the electromagnet 18. The latter then attracts its armature 13 (fig. 3), which causes the pivoting of the arms 10 and 11 in the opposite direction to that of clockwise movement.

In this pivoting movement, the arm 11 meets the finger 9 and raises it, thus causing the lever .1, the lug 3 of which is raised above the upper edge of the bolt 1, to pivot, in addition, as soon as the the lower angle of the lever 11 arrives opposite the notch 15 of the support 16, the latter, pushed by the spring 17, pivots a little until its upper end comes into contact with the e >> right end of this lever.

The latter then rests in the notch 15, which means that even if, from this moment, we stop passing the current through the electromagnet 18, the arm 11 will still keep the lever raised, that is that is to say in a position where the lug 3 will not prevent or even hinder in any way the opening of the lock, since the bolt 1 can be brought back to the right. The finger 21 fixed to the bolt 1 has the effect of acting on the side of the support 16 so as to bring it back to the position indicated by FIG. 1 when the bolt 1 is brought into the open position of the lock.

It can therefore be seen that the safety device, that is to say immobilization of the bolt, comes into play automatically when the lock is closed and that in order to be able to reopen the latter, it suffices to allow only a moment to pass. the current in the electromagnet.
