Description

Porous mass for storing explosive gases. The present invention relates to a porous mass for the storage of explosive gases such. B. acetylene, with or without a solvent for the (sas, in which a granular to fibrous filler material such as charcoal, asbestos, silk waste, kapock or the like is used. Porous pale materials made of such materials have shown the disadvantage that the transport of the Container has caused the formation of gaps, which cause a risk of explosion.

In addition, the mentioned interstices have allowed the gas solvent possibly contained in the container to be carried away to a significantly greater extent than was the case when using agglomerated or briquette-made porous masses. In addition, the container could not be kept completely full because the mass gradually collapses.

Furthermore, the powder of the granular to fibrous material formed by mutual friction of the mass would be carried along by the gases as they flow out of the container; whereby apparatus in connection with the container, for example fine pipes or their openings, are clogged.

The invention has the avoidance of these disadvantages for the purpose and is based on the fact that the granular to fibrous filler material with a porous, heat-resistant material such as z. B. diatomaceous earth is mixed.

This additive is expediently added in such an amount that it fills the spaces between the grains or fibers well, whereby the advantage is gained that the wear between the grains or fibers if the container is exposed to vibrations or the like during transport is reduced considerably. At the same time, the solvent used is held back significantly better in the mass and not carried away by the gases. The risk of explosion is also reduced.

The substance to be mixed with the granular to fibrous filler material should be heat-resistant, so that when the container is heated or when the flame of the ignited gas flashes back into the container, or when the gas explodes locally, the container does not destroy it and cause damage of the container is closed.

In one embodiment of the invention, granular material, e.g. B. charcoal grains, with practically such a large amount of porö sen; heat-resistant material, e.g. B. kieselguhr mixed so that the container practically contains the same amount of coal as if it were only filled with coal. After the filling compound has been introduced into the container, it is shaken in the usual way until the compound has obtained the desired density. The percentage addition of said substance, e.g. B. of kieselguhr, is the grain size. dependent on coal.

With a grain size of 0.5-1 mm, according to this example, the volume weight of the coal should be approximately the same as that of the filler material.
