Stuffing box packing. The invention relates to stuffing box packings for cylindrical rods and the like, in which rings are used which are divided into segments which are pressed inwards in order to rest against the spruce rod and to seal it against steam or other pressure , the ring segments lying between rings that are never divided.

In known designs of rod packs, two pairs of segment-shaped sealing rings are used which are not provided with bevels arranged in opposite directions and in which pressed pressure rings are used on their inside, where springs are arranged are to press the pressure rings against the packing rings.

In another embodiment, a ring that is beveled on its outside is arranged between a spring-loaded pressure ring that is beveled on its inside and a ring that is not divided.

In the case of the stuffing box pacluation, the invention is between a ring with an inner lip on which a spring force is exerted in the axial direction. nixd an undivided ring an init: iusserer @bscbr:

One or more sets of pressure ring, undivided ring and packing ring can be provided in the all-in-one stuffing box or in the same line. The accompanying line shows, for example, embodiments of the subject matter of the invention.

Fig. I and? show in the longitudinal resp. ends, undivided ring b and a pressure ring c arranged, v-the latter is pressed against the rings a, b by means of springs seated on piston d.

   Each of the segments of the ring, it is a finite flat, ground surface a1. which is perpendicular to the axis of the rod e. and with an area from "@ esclirä" @th a \ from <ge..tatted. The ring b is, pay close attention to the stan @, @;

it has parallel end faces and is between your segment ring, n and the stuffing box gland f, their inner one. The surface resting on the ring b is also completely smooth and, in two cases, Oeach-ground.

The ab surface a \ of the segment ring is machined smooth and fits exactly into the inner slope of the pressure ring c, through which the rod passes with play. The lateral boundary surfaces of the se, @ "elements running in arrbsialer direction are in this embodiment parallel to the radius on the longitudinal center of the kriininiten inner surface,

so the movement of the SegmFrite. which, under the action of the axial pressure exerted on its outer @ bschräntun @. @, precedes in the radial direction. takes place automatically to the extent that the segments wear out.

The pressure ring c is provided with holes g, some of which are provided for receiving the springs and pistons d, the latter of which lie against the adjacent stuffing box flanges. It can also be seen that the working pressure. that is, the liver pressure against which the stuffing box seals and which acts on the face of the pressure ring c, supports the pressure of the springs.

A sleeve i surrounds the rings a, b, c of the stuffing box, but there is sufficient clearance between the rings and the sleeve. to allow the rod to vibrate.

In the embodiment shown in FIGS. 3 and 4, two sets of rings a, b. c are arranged within bushings i, which are separated by a ring 3, the latter also providing a separation tion wall forms to prevent the pressure medium located between the inner sleeve i and the rings from passing through. The lateral boundary surfaces are in this embodiment. not parallel to the radius on the longitudinal center of the curved inner surface.

In FIGS. 1 to 4, all spring pistons d and pressure rings c are arranged so that they are in the same direction as the working pressure. Act.

Figs. 5 and 6 show an arrangement of two sets of rings a, b, c, similar to that shown in Figs. 3 and 4, but the rings are arranged in reverse order.

This arrangement is preferably used when sealing against working pressures below, - # tmosphärendrucl @.

The segment ring a can be made of any suitable material, such as white metal, bronze or cast iron.

It can be seen from the above that the pack described can be produced in a simple and easy manner; furthermore, it is very compact and can easily be installed in place of existing soft packs.
