Le dessin annexé, donné à titre d'exemple; représente plusieurs formes d'exécution de l'objet de l'invention, servant par exemple à évacuer des condenseurs de vapeur. La fig. 1 montre un éjecteur à deux étages, < i diffuseur refroidi, avec montage élastique de l'extrémité de décharge du diffuseur et disposition d'un écran autour du diffuseur pour limiter l'espace annulaire d'eau de circulation;
La fig. 2 montre, à titre de variante, le montage de l'extrémité de décharge du diffu seur dans un presse-étoupe; ce montage per mettant de supprimer l'écran autour du dif- fuseur;
t1 cet effet, dans l'exemple de la fig. 5, l'eau de circulation arrive dans une chambre annulaire n comprise entre le corps lï de l'appareil et uni organe-guide c constitué par un cylindre percé de nombreux trous qui r epartit é l'eau autour du diffuseur d;

E, steam jet. Experience has shown that the cooling of the wall of the diffuser of a steam ejector was likely to facilitate priming; to increase the efficiency, and to make it possible to give the diffuser a cylindrical shape from the neck, instead of the diver gente shape employed heretofore.
The present invention relates to a steam ejector, a diffuser cooled and cylindrical in shape from the neck, but has, in order to improve the efficiency of the ejector, the feature that the wall of the diffuser is formed by a sheet. thin metal which is a good conductor of heat, such as copper, for example, that around this diffuser is provided an annular water circulation space narrow enough for the cooling water to circulate there at high speed,
and that the diffuser is mounted so as to be able to obey without danger the effects of expansion caused by variations in temperature.
The accompanying drawing, given by way of example; represents several embodiments of the object of the invention, for example serving to evacuate steam condensers. Fig. 1 shows a two-stage ejector, cooled diffuser, with elastic mounting of the discharge end of the diffuser and arrangement of a screen around the diffuser to limit the annular space of circulating water;
Fig. 2 shows, as a variant, the mounting of the discharge end of the diffuser in a cable gland; this assembly making it possible to eliminate the screen around the diffuser;
Fig. 3 shows, alternatively, ni) diffuser with intermediate condenser means Lig. -1 shows ways to feed this intermediate condenser with the cooling water from the diffuser:
Figs. 5. 6. I and 8 show in longitudinal section several other embodiments of the diffuser ejector cooled by intensive water circulation; Figs. 9 and 10 show large scale details.
As seen in fig. 1., which represents a two-stage ejector, the steam constituting the driving fluid arrives ,. in the upstream stage by the nozzle A and the elastic fluid entrained, air for example, by the tube B. After mixing, the resulting fluid is compressed in a diffuser C, profile converging at the inlet, but having a cylindrical shape starting from the neck and having its wall formed by a thin sheet of metal which is a good conductor of heat, such as, for example, copper.
This diffuser is fixed, at its upper part, to the frame 111 of the device by a nut D; at its lower part, it is connected to the same carcass, but by means of a positive elastic connection device allowing it to obey expansion effects.
In the example shown in FIG. 1, this device is constituted by an elastic washer F. whose outer edge is clamped against a shoulder of the carcass 1 by the nut F, and whose inner edge is clamped between the nut P and the ring Q, which is attached to the discharge end of diffuser C.
As we can see, the nut P which is screwed on the ring Q, can slide inside the nut F, under the influence of the expansion of the diffuser C, by deforming the elastic washer E. The curved '- vation of this washer E therefore absorbs the variations in length of the diffuser produced under the influence of changes in temperature.
It will be understood that the flexible assembly, which has just been described, has been given only by way of example, and that in particular the washer E could be mounted on the upper part of the diffuser or else be constituted by a part of the wall of the diffuser itself, to which a shape would be given allowing elastic deformations obeying the effects of expansion.
In the case of the elastic mounting of the discharge end of the diffuser, as described above with reference to, fig. 1, the ring Q must be able to pass inside the casing at the time of fitting and it follows that the annular space which exists between the diffuser C and the casing -11, and which constitutes the cooling box In which the cooling water enters through F 'and leaves through G, has a fairly large cross section.
In order to achieve the highest possible speed of the cooling water along the diffuser, it is advantageous to reduce the section of said annular space so that the cooling water circulates around the diffuser with a high speed. For this purpose, around the diffuser C is placed a screen H held at its upper part between a shoulder of the carcass and the upper edge of the diffuser and which limits an annular water circulation space narrow enough so that the water cooling circulates there at high speed.
At the lower part, the screen R is centered on the diffuser C by three tabs 1. In addition, the screen H is pierced, at the upper part, with several holes <T to let the cooling water pass: then it follows the shape of the diffuser.
From the arrangement described above, it follows that the cooling water is isolated from the fluid passing through the ejector by entirely metallic walls; moreover, the presence of the screen @, @ i H allows easy disassembly of the assembly: screen and diffuser, by the very fact that the ring Q, fixed to the lower part of the diffuser, passes freely into the casing of the ejector.
We see that the water box (the cooler, in which the water enters at F 'and leaves at G, is absolutely waterproof, since it is closed on all sides, which allows, if need be, to use as water cooling of the sea water without fear of seeing this water mix with the fluid circulating in the diffuser.
When one does not have to fear the inconvenience which has just been pointed out, one can substitute for the elastic assembly of FIG. 1, the sliding assembly of FIG. 2, in which the lower or discharge part of the diffuser C, reinforced by a ring R, slides in a cable gland S. We can then remove the screen H and give the annular space free between the diffuser C and the carcass 11 a section small enough to obtain a high speed of circulation of the cooling water.
The ejector shown in fig. I being <r two stages, the water leaving by G of the box of cooling provided around the first diffuser, enters by the pipe Iï in the second stage established in a manner similar to the first stage. to exit through the L tubing.
When an intermediate condenser is used between the two stages of the ejector, this intermediate condenser can be made as shown in fig. 3 using an extension T of the diffuser C, drilled with holes t7. The wall of the upper part of the diffuser is cooled with circulating water arriving at 1 'and exiting at G,
the alteration water of the intermediate condenser entering through 1 In certain applications it may be necessary to use for this supply of the intermediate condenser water that is hotter than the circulating water of the main condenser, for example The condenser extraction water In other cases, orr can supply this intermediate condenser with the cooling water from the diffuser.
As shown in fig. 4, the screen H is then extended downwards, and the cooling water, after having circulated between the screen and the wall of the diffuser, enters through the holes U in the part lower thereof to produce condensation by direct contact with the entrained fluid. The overflow of water comes out through the V tubing which could at a pinch be removed.
The water condensed by the intermediate condenser and which flows to the lower end T of the diffuser C in the case of fi * 3 and 4 can be taken up by firing) cry tube in the form of U </ B> and returned to the main condenser, slums only the air, which also escapes from the same end. said diffuser C small be driven by a second ejector mounted cry series.
Although the quantities of elfectivent vapor condensed on the walls of the diffuser are small, experience has shown that the temperature of its walls should be kept as low as possible, especially around the neck of the diffuser. It is therefore bort to ensure an active circulation of water and to make the water arrive in the first place around the neck and distribute it regularly around the diffuser.
t1 this effect, in the example of FIG. 5, the circulating water arrives in an annular chamber n included between the body 11 of the apparatus and a guide member c consisting of a cylinder pierced with numerous holes which distributes the water around the diffuser d;
this gold-guide is extended by a tube r having a convergent-divergent profile, surrounding the diffuser and provided with a neck around the neck of the diffuser, to obtain at this point, the greatest cooling is necessary , the most active circulation of cooling water.
In normal operation, the body of the ejector and the diffuser are at the same temperature close to the ordinary temperature. However, it may happen that an accident or an incorrect operation causes the admission of steam into the diffuser without water circulation. Under these conditions, the diffuser can reach a temperature higher than that of the envelope and there is. instead of guarding against the risks of rupture and deformation which would result.
It is for this purpose that the discharge end of the diffuser is mounted with a sliding or elastic seal, as has moreover already been explained above for other examples.
According to fig. 6, the diffuser fixed to its upper part ends at its lower part with a cylindrical part f ', which can slide in a stuffing-box seal P placed between the body of the ejector b and the clamping ring g.
In the apparatus of FIG. î, the sliding seal which has just been described is replaced by titi double seal with nut whose utr is fixed cri h on the ejector body lï, the other at i on the wall of the diffuser d, the two joints being connected by means of a corrugated elastic washer j. This arrangement is shown in detail and on a large scale in FIG. 9.
In these two cases, the diffuser is mounted from above, while the tightening of the gaskets on the elastic washer is carried out via the lower part of the ejector by means of the notches Ic formed in the nuts of the gaskets.
In the apparatus of FIG. 8. The lower eiterity of the diffuser is screwed into the ejector body by means of the base 1 and thus constitutes a fixed seal. At the top. on the contrary. a collar ni of the diffuser held in place by the washer ii is elastically connected to the body of the diffuser by a corrugated portion o situated between the collar and the upper part of the diffuser.
It is good, as shown in fig. 9 and 10, to provide notches h 'at the discharge integrity of the diffuser, making it possible to maintain the latter during tightening so as not to deform it by torsion.
In all cases. in order to ensure the watertightness of the joints, it should, as shown in fig. 5, that the outlet 1) of the circulation water is set as high as possible.
but always below the inlet it: the lower seal of the diffuser is thus maintained under a layer of water at the same time as one establishes by the water reserve ï- a cooling mass which keeps the temperature lower. of the diffuser in case of interruption of the water supply and ensuring the distribution of heat between the diffuser and the body of <RTI
