Le courant. primaire arrive aux enroule- men1s priimircs de- #. conducteurs principaux Î I" 7_. tandis que les connexions;
Device for transforming electric current. This invention relates to the transformation of electrical energy by means of transformers of which a series of windings is interconnected, so that it forms a closed circuit in which the sum of the electromotive forces is at all times reduced. zero, said closed circuit being connected to a switching device in the same way as the winding (the Gramme ring is connected to its collector.
This device (the electrical transformation comprises, in addition, at least two switches, the brushes of which are interconnected so that said switches are in series. The closed secondary circuit of the transformers employed is divided into at least two electrically separated sections. , but magnetically connected each of the two sections being connected to a switch only, said sections being connected in series only by means of the switches.
The switches will. advantageously present the form of discs, the segments of which are sectors, the discs being arranged on the same axis so as to form (the pairs whose oaths are presented mul, ually the working surfaces, due (the brooms rotary are used to connect in series.
The device may, moreover, present (the secondary circuit sections connected to their switches (so that each pair of direct current brushes can be offset, to occupy more (the one position, as in machines). multipolar direct current in order to allow the device to operate at a lower speed than it would be necessary if there was only one possible position of the brushes.
This can preserve the a \ anta-, es from the meritorious point of view.
One of said secondary sections may be formed of several windings arranged in parallel for the transmission of very high currents at reduced voltages, a couplal, or parallel series of the same can be used in the windings, or even in the switches.
In this description the circuit. closed is. designated as the secondary circuit, admitting the transformation of native alternating current incurring direct, however it is evident that during the transformation of current. continuous in alternating, this. winding will function as the primary winding.
The accompanying drawing represents, by way of e: @ample, an embodiment of the object of the invention, showing a device for the transformation of three-phase current into direct current and vice versa.
Fig. 1 schematically represents a device comprising two switches in series with their transformers, the connections being. omitted in the drawing for one of the switches; Fig. 2 shows the mode of coupling on the primary side of the transformers; Fig. 3 is a diagram showing.
primary and secondary currents as well as their phases; Fig. i shows a similar arrangement to that of fi-. 1 but where each switch is replaced by two switches connected in parallel and the two groups in series; Figs. 5 and. d are diagrams showing modified connections used to allow a lower speed than required by the connections -of fi, -. <B> 1 </B> and 2.
The device represented by FIGS. 1 and 2 is intended for the transformation of three-phase current into direct current. This device comprises two three-phase transformers A @ and b 'of the three-column type, the windings of which are designated in this description as primary, resp, secondary without any intention, however, of wanting to restrict wax, by the fact, of the 'use of these terms the function of each winding to be exclusively primary or secondary, as was mentioned above given the character of the function of a dependent winding:
that the device must transform from alternating current into direct 011 the reverse. The. Designation;, primary "will, however, be assigned in a fixed manner to the windings intended to absorb or discharge the alternating current itself, and the designation, secondary" to the other groups of windings connected to the winding (s) or to them. commuters.
Each core (transformers A and B carry the primary coils designated by A 'and B'. Coils A 'are connected, as shown in fi--. \ ?, each only to one of the conductors of the three-phase system TFZ the coils B 'being interconnected so as to produce flows in the columns of transformer B, the relationships of which (the phases with those of the columns of transformer A are.
represented by vectors 1, 2 and 3 (le, fig. 3.
The secondary windings are designated by A2 and B2, four corresponding secondary windings. to each primary winding, thus making it possible to obtain secondary phases corresponding respectively to each of the vectors X, l ', Z, 1, 2, 3,
of fig. 3 as well as to the inverse vectors. The four secondary coils of this column are arranged two by two respectively. iliac side of the primary coil, the pairs on each side constituting a secondary section, all skies belonging.
to the same co.mmuta.tor as being connected to it only, so that the other section on the opposite side of the primary winding, is separate from it, electrically connected only to. its own switch, being: in series with, the first section via switches only. In closed circuits formed: thus the sum of the electro-motive forces is at all. zero moment.
Only half of the secondary windings of the diagram are shown clan, the drawing -as being connected, or those connected to segments C 'of a switch C. There is a second switch D whose sections are connected to the other windings secondary elements in the same way believed are the segments C '. Each switch is fitted with two C- and DJ brushes,
carried by the arms C3 D ". mounted on a shaft h which turns them. Collector rings F and, G, fitted with brushes FI and Gl, are provided coaxially with the switches <I> C and I), </ I> the brushes FI and G 'being mounted on the shaft I% so as to rotate with it.
The brushes F 'is connected to one of the brushes C- by means of a conductor F2 mounted on the shaft, the other brush, C =, being connected to one of the bays D- by a conductor CI mounted, on the 'ar bre, the other broom.
D =. being connected in the same way to the brushes (; l by the conductor D \. The collector rings and the commutators are therefore all in series with each other. It goes without saying that this is not sufficient, to achieve normal operation: .
(make it turn simply, the-: brushes at the correct speed, they must, (the most. "be spotted so that each brush is located- at every moment in a point of its corresponding electrically-corner or u- brush setting point, called zone (the switching, of an ordinary direct current generator.
In other words, it must. that points which places can call nodes of the distribution <B> (the </B> electromotive force around the comnout.ateur, revolve around it. and (read each brush constantly coincides with. one of these nodes or is in its immediate vicinity In order to always achieve this condition, it is possible to provide for an inoyeil to accelerate or retard the abnormal speed of the shaft during operation.
This can be done, for example, by varying the field strength of the synchronous motor driving the shaft, or by moving the stator of the motor abnormally around the axis of rotation of the shaft.
In the drawing, the brush holders are shown parallel to each other, however. it may sometimes be necessary to shift one or more, with respect to the others, in order to place them correctly in the switching area of the respective switches, by means (any suitable device, such as, for example, an ac - adjustable coupling K @, as shown diagrammatically in fig. i.
Another method to produce a sible result is to connect the sennients of a switch to the windings in such a way (the sound circuit, closed, that they are annularly advanced with respect to the segments of another switch, connected to the corresponding windings of its own closed circuit.
The cliagi-amrie and. the circuits, described are Cie simple form. only two winding sections are -u.ptpo #! ed for each imitator corner per transformer column, each of these sections being connected to the switch bars.
11 will dirty (read that the windings can still be subdivided and connected to intermediate switch bars between those shown in the diagram, so as to achieve a @ub: -iivision of the electromotive force between ds bars adja - ccnte.
The flow. primary arrives at the priimircs of- # windings. main conductors Î I "7_. while the connections;
between the secondary windings and the switches can. shown as a two-circuit corrugated bipolar winding. The nodes of the.
distribution (the electronic force will revolve around <I> the </I> conim.ufateurs at a speed of 3000 revolutions per niiiiute if the primary current presents more than 5o periods per second. The shaft I 'must clone totii ner at the same speed of 3000 revolutions per minute The direct current is collected at the terminals H HI.
When it is desired, for mechanical reasons, for example, to have a lower speed of rotation of the shaft and the brushes, the ## secondary windings can be interconnected with each other and with their switches so as to achieve the equivalent in eni-cu.lement = multipolar @ -on- tinuous current thus making it possible to obtain
other speeds synchronous with the frequency of the primary current. The_. fi; -. 5 and C show two ways of realizing what happens. In fig. 5. one (the switches, C for example, is provided with four brushes C 'offset by <B> 90 ", </B> the diametrically opposed bays being interconnected ?.
The thread. G shows another method, followed by L not (the connections to the comp-ur is cliciisi (the way to give the equivalence of an enro (wavy rule of a generator four-pole continuous ceuia @ tt.
Fig. 6 tic- represents only a portion of. cil cooked, the others being implied. An important object of the device shown is to achieve such differences in the potential of the adjacent switch bars and in general between the various parts of the brushes,
that there results a fcncii, nnemeii \ satisfactory of the devices in question. The arrangement described allows strong isolation and easily. applicable to both windings and switching devices, the voltage of each section of Venroulem, _iil:
secondary sculenient not being determined by the way it is connected, but having a value easily determinable in advance with respect to the adjacent windings. In addition, it is easy to determine in advance the value of the voltage of each section with respect to everything else called s7 # 4ime by grounding the core. 11 is.
therefore, easy to isolate each panic in a simple way.
The end-. Li is. a diagram showing the arrangement of four switches, two. in parallel and in parallel, making it possible to operate with stronger currents in a more satisfactory manner than if only cleuK switches were arranged in series.
11 is. Obviously, one can use analogously any other parallel series arrangement. According to an embodiment of the object of the invention adjacent skies,
for example <I> C and </I> D of fig. Ï. Can be arranged not as shown in figia e, where the work surface of the rin cuts off the back of the other, but in such a way that the two work surfaces re-scale each other, the brushes then being able to be arranged between them so â. connect the two surfaces.
The transformer device described and shown allows operation with very high voltages, of the order of magnitude of 7.00000 volts, and the transformer apparatuses used are of easy construction to perform, allowing better insulation than necessary. 'was possible until now with this type of device, using this. effect.
a sub (closed circuit livision connected to the switching device, and at least two switches electrically connected in series.
In the form of e #: above ecution (lécri te and shown in the drawing the device following the invention is intended to convert alternating current, or three-phase direct current.
If we could also provide an embodiment for converting direct current into current. continuous of another voltage. In that case. it would require hollow separate sets of switches. the switches of one being connected to the primary windings and those of the other to the secondary windings of the transformers. We can then bring a direct current of a certain voltage to the brushes of one of the series of switches and take a <RTI
ID = "0004.0136"> current: direct from another voltage to the brushes. of the other series, the ratio between these two voltages being determined by the transformation ratio of the transformers. Of course, the rotary movement of the two series of committers must be the same for both.
