Description

  La     fi    g. 1 en est titre élévation ;  La     fig.        '?        cri    est     titi    plant       l'a        lig.    a en est     litre    élévation de cité ;

    La     fig.        l    représente titre vue de     c(")té    d'un       mandrin    sur lequel on enroule la ou les  feuilles     élastiques.:     La     fig.        :,    est une     cteupe    transversale d'urne       autre    forme     d'exéeutiorr    d'un mandrin ;

    Les iig. G. î et N sont des coupes trans- versales de banda-es obtenus suivant ce procédé.

      de manière à pouvoir glisser dans des cornières 111 et 20 (fig. 1) disposées entre les plaques latérales avant 13 et arrières 14 des supports 12, et il est pourvu de ressort de tension 21 avec des ressorts de butée 22 faisant saillie en avant du rouleau d amenée 10, de manière it. agir avec ce dernier comme rouleau compresseur pour maintenir le tube à air 7 en position.

    On déplace les supports 12 et on fait     t@iur-          ner    les rouleaux 10 et 11 par     l'intermédiaire          d'titi    arbre 23 qui est monté dans des paliers  24 et qui petit être actionné par une source  de force     motrice,    il, l'aide des poulies fixe et  folle     "5.    Les supports 1'? sont     d < _@placés    sur  les organes de     guidage        I!t,    par des     draines          sacs        fin        '?(i;

          fixées < Lux supports ers 2r1'. et qui passent autour des pignons 217 montés sur l'arbre 23 et des pignons 8 disposés dans des supports 29, que porte le montant 1 situé à l'autre extrémité de l'appareil.

  La feuille de caoutchouc     étant    assujettie  aux deux extrémités,     comme    i1 a été dit  plus haut, ou la tend jusqu'à ce que sa lon  gueur ait une dimension qui produise la  tension voulue et que l'on peut mesurer à.  l'aide de guides ou d'indicateurs, disposés  sur la table 2, et non représentés sur le           dï@ssin;

          'ut en graduant la surfiace de cette table. Pour obtenir la tension, on peut faire tourner le rouleau de serrage 3, de mmdére à enrouler la feuille de caoutchouc avec le nombre de tours voulu, puis on assujettit ce rmdeau de serrage contre toute rotation,

  Ainsi que le     montre    la.     fig.    8, la partie       périphérique        interne    dit bandage peut être       pourvue    d'une base     continue    43. faisant sail  lie intérieure ut     assujettie    au bandage;

   cette       base        affeete        une        fot-nte    et des     dimensions    telles       qu'elle    puisse     s'adapter    dans la jante 44 de  la roue sur     laquelle    le     bandage    doit être     fixé;

       elle peut être constituée, par exemple, au moyen d'un mélange ou d'une solution de cauutchoue et (lu liège granulé, et être fixée ait bandage, par exemple, par vulcanisation OH Zut moyen d'une solution de caoutchouc une fois le bandage tertnitté. La,

       ainsi    que le     montre    la     fig.    3, peut  être     pourvue        d'un        (,il    de     plusieurs    tubes creux  qui partent de     l'espace        d*air    central 38 et       sortent    par la jante 41;

      Process for the manufacture of elastic bands for the wheels of road vehicles, apparatus for its working mine and tire made according to this process.

           I.iirvuntiuu includes a process for the manufacture of (elastic tires for wheels (road vehicles, shooting) apparatus for polishing its implementation, and a tire made according to this process.

  In this process. a sheet an organic elastic material is wound under tension: It differs from other known methods in that the sheet of elastic material is rolled around a member <it is then withdrawn from the roll to obtain allowing this material to be shrink and corul> thus rhyme the inner parts of the roll and cry what when the

  two ends are connected together, a continuous air space is formed in this body.

  The apparatus for the uiisc in (opener of this process comprises rrrovetrs to give il the organ, on which or coils the leafy; a movement of rotation, as well as for don- net- to the elastic sheet a determined tension.

  The bandage produced by this method consists of at least one organic, elastic elastic sheet wound under said tire, the inner parts of this bandage being compressed by the outer parts. It presents in its central part shooting] continuous air space.

  The attached drawing. represents, by way of example, cirre faith-denying the execution of an apparatus for an emergence in ceuvre of the method forming the object (the invention.

    The iig. G. 1 and N are cross sections of bands obtained by this method.

  The apparatus shown takes the form of a table which is supported above hard ground by supports1. The sheet, for example rubber, of which the bandage is to be composed is coated on both sides with an adherent rubber solution, it is placed on the plate 2 of the table, on the upper part of the apparatus and the subject, by one of its ends, to a clamping roller 3, in which a longitudinal slot 4 has been formed which is intended to receive this exirt'inity of the sheet.

The other end of the rubber sheet is applied on titi @, rgane 7 cuti can be for example eoustitué by Him tube inflated with air (fig. 4) , around which it is partially wound; this small tube be established for example in rubber or any other material or compound, elastic and impermeable.

   The air tube, inflated. 7 is then placed in the apparatus at titi point: 1 between two rotating rollers 10 and It arranged in a shitty manner the rubber sheet passes either, - the roller 10 closest to the roller of clamping 3 .

    The rollers L!) And 11 are placed transversely at a small distance above the tahle \? and they are mounted in such a way that they can be moved relative to one another, and both simultaneously, in appearance, relative to the clamping roller 3.

       To allow this last movement, the rollers 11) and 11 are mounted on each side of the maa_liine on titi mobile support 12 comprising front side plates 13 and rear literal plates 14 on which are arranged two sets of small rollers 15 which can move on lti guide orpt? ies mounted on the sides of the machine. and thus make it possible to move the

  supports 1.2 as well as the rollers 10 and 11 mounted on them. The supports 12 are connected by top notches 17 intended to give them greater stability and to facilitate their movement.

   The closest roller 10, called the clamping roller 3, is mounted so as to be able to turn in the front lateral plates 13 of the supports 12, and it is provided with longitudinal grooves 13 to act as a supply roller and to bring the rubber sheet in order. that it can be wound around the tube 7 inflates air. The roller 11 furthest from the clamping roller 3 is fitted:

      so as to be able to slide in angles 111 and 20 (fig. 1) arranged between the front 13 and rear 14 side plates of the supports 12, and it is provided with a tension spring 21 with stop springs 22 protruding in front of the feed roller 10, so it. act with the latter as a compressor roller to keep the air tube 7 in position.

    The supports 12 are moved and the rollers 10 and 11 are driven by means of a shaft 23 which is mounted in bearings 24 and which can be actuated by a source of motive force. using the fixed and idle pulleys "5. The supports 1 '? are placed on the guide members I! t, by sacks drains end'? (i;

          fixed <Lux supports ers 2r1 '. and which pass around the pinions 217 mounted on the shaft 23 and the pinions 8 arranged in supports 29, carried by the upright 1 located at the other end of the device.

   The supply roller 10 is provided at each end with a pinion 30 which is rotated by another pinion 31 on the shaft 23. by means of a chain 32, at the ends of which are suspended weights 32 '. The road roller is rotated in a manner analogous to the hub of the weight drains passing over sprockets 34 and 35, the arrangement being such that the rollers 10 and 11 are rotated away from the roller 3 when the roller is turned. device in motion.

  The rubber sheet being secured at both ends, as mentioned above, or stretching it until its length has a dimension which produces the desired tension and which can be measured at. using guides or indicators, arranged on table 2, and not shown on the drawing;

          'ut by graduating the area of this table. To obtain the tension, the tightening roller 3 can be rotated, so as to wind the rubber sheet with the desired number of turns, then this tightening ring is secured against any rotation,

   for example by means of pawls 36 arranged as shown in fig. 1, and qcri s enga gent in ratchet wheels 37 mounted on said roller; or we can obtain this tension by removing the supports 1:.? of the clamping roller 3, after the latter has been secured against any rotation as mentioned above.

  The shaft 3 of material to be moved gradually the supports 12 towards the clamping roller 3 ,, is then rotated halfway.

      This Ili has the result of simultaneously and uniformly rotating the rollers 10 and 11 as well as the air tube 7 secured therebetween. and gradually emulate on this tube which is swollen, the rubber sheet stretched,

    the initial tension at which this sheet was lowered was started being maintained in the meantime until the desired number of layers had been wound up.

       The valve 8, called the air tube 7, is then opened so that the air can escape, which makes it possible to easily and quickly withdraw the tube chi center of the mass of material which is cylindrical and tubular in shape and which is assembled the extremities,

      for example by a vulcanization process. The bandage. thus obtained is shown in section in FIG. 6; it presents a central and continuous air space 38 surrounded by a solid annular mass, made of rubber. 39.

  The rollers 111 and It could be operated for example by means of shafts and. of worm gears.

       As shown in fig. 5, the scir member which is wound 1 <t elastic sheet can also consist of a number of rods, for example thin metal rods, 40, of varying thicknesses, arranged so as to constitute a sensilAe- tnetrt mandrel circular.

   These rods are connected mi sec ries volume it @. Is indicated in -11. To remove the mandrel, it is undone or loosened by successively removing a certain number of rods.

       As mi can see in fig. 7, the annidal mass of caoidehouc 89 can cotn- purtër a certain number of concentrated layers interposed. -1 _. for example in canvas.

    For this purpose, webs of canvas can be placed at determined distances on the stretched cztotitcltocic sheet. coated with solution, before rolling it up. C n bandage comprising layers of compound material, as has just been said,

   is lighter and less expensive than a solid rubber tire of the same size, without, for this, its degree of elasticity and its ability to resist deformation being appreciably reduced.

  As shown in. fig. 8, the internal peripheral part said bandage may be provided with a continuous base 43. projecting the inner part and secured to the bandage;

   this base affeete a fot-nte and dimensions such that it can fit in the rim 44 of the wheel on which the tire is to be fixed;

       it can be made, for example, by means of a mixture or a solution of cauutchoue and (granulated cork, and be fixed to a bandage, for example, by vulcanization OH Zut by means of a rubber solution once the tire has been applied. La,

   the inner tire surface of said tire is thus mounted at a level which is substantially the same as that of the edges 45 of the rim 44, which increases the effective peripheral surface a exposed says bandage and, consequently, its own resistance.

   When the bands are to be attached to the moorings of vehicles moving at relatively high speeds, for example automobiles, and are therefore exposed to excessive heat, the inner peripheral part of these bands,

       as shown in fig. 3, can be provided with a (, it of several hollow tubes which leave the central air space 38 and exit by the rim 41;

   these tubes may include a unified valve destitif'e îi, bringing cold air to the interior of the air space for cooling.

       5if desired, the surface. The outer tire may be provided with an ordinary tread, having the effect of reducing its wear. This tread is bonded to the tire once it is finished, by means of vulcanization or by means of a rubber solution. 1:

  It can also be made so that it completely envelops the tire, in the same way that a tire covered with a tire.

   It will be noted that the contraction which occurs when the mandrel is removed produces considerable compression in the annular mass of rubber constituting the tire: this wedge-pressure creates in the annular mass a continuous tendency to close, which consequently prevents the surface of said bandage to open or to remain open dates in the event that it is punctured, or cut.

       Before being rolled up, the sheet of organic elastic material may be coated with an adhesive material either on a part of one of its faces, or on one of its entire faces, or on its two sides.
