Description

      Plusieurs     formes        d'exécution    de l'objet  de l'invention sont représentées, à titre  d'exemple, au dessin annexé, dans lequel:  La     fig.    1. montre en coupe longitudinale,  la première forme d'exécution;  Les     fig.    2 et 3 représentent     respectivement     en vue de face et en -coupe     longitudinale    une  variante d'exécution;  Les     fig.    4 .et 5 montrent en coupe longi  tudinale et. en vue de face la deuxième     forme          d'exécution;     La     fig.    6 représente en coupe longitudi  nale la troisième forme d'exécution;

    La     fig.    7 en est une vue de face suivant  la ligne     A-A    de la     fig.    6;  La     fig.    8 montre en élévation, un des     élé-          nients    du dispositif     représenté        fig.    G;  La     fig.    9 montre partiellement une coupe  suivant la ligne     B-B    de la     fig.    8;

    La     fig.    10 représente en     coupe    longitudi  nale une quatrième forme d'exécution ap  plicable     particulièrement    à la     commande    des  hélices d'aéroplanes;

    La fig. 11 montre partiellement une coupe suivant la ligne C-C de la fig. 1.0; La fig. 12 montre une coupe approxima tivement suivant la ligne D-D de la fig. i0; La fig. 13 montre en élévation un des organes -du dispositif représenté fig. 10; La fig. 14 en est une coupe suivant la ligne L'-D de la fig. 13.

   Le  premier de ces roulements 1     sera;    seulement       cle    support au bout d'axe 15 qui reçoit le  mouvement de rotation originaire (dans le  cas ou l'appareil est employé comme multi  plicateur de vitesse). Le plateau 16 rendu  solidaire du bout d'axe 15 transmet le mou  vement de ce dernier à la     couronne-cage     (non     représentée)    du roulement 2;

   Lesdits galets pos  sèdent quatre points de contact avec leurs  chemins de roulement: le :premier avec la  partie 42 du chemin de roulement extérieur,  cette partie étant fixe, en ce sens qu'elle est  butée vers l'arbre moteur par une saillie de       couvercle-flasque    13 qui ferme de ce côté le  carter 12, renfermant     haut    le système, le se  cond avec la partie 43 du chemin de roule  ment extérieur, cette partie étant mobile, en  ce qu'elle peut s'écarter ou se rapprocher  plus ou moins du chemin de roulement 42;

    mais les parties 42 et 43 du chemin de rou lement extérieur ne peuvent tourner; elles en sont empêchées par un certain nomhre,de In,orrjons (trois au moins .sur le pourtour du chemin circulaire de roulement) implantés dans les bagues fixes d'écartement 44.

   Le plateau 78, peut glis  ser longitudinalement sur l'axe central     74,     trais il     ne    peut tourner qu'avec lui grâce à  la clavette 81. Le     contre-plateau    79 monté, en  regard -du plateau 78, sur     l'extrémité    de l'ar  bre     77,    ne peut ni avancer, ni reculer, ni  tourner sur cet arbre sans l'entraîner dans  son     mouvement;

      il en est empêché par les trois clavettes prisonnières 82 (fig. 14), qui, traversant trois mortaises .pratiquées dans la paroi de la cavité 76 et introduites par l'in térieur de celle-ci, avant l'enfoncement du tourillon 75, viennent s'engager dans trois logements ménagés dans la douille du con- tre-plateau 79 et ne ,permettent qu'un léger déplacement longitudinal de 1 rn.m environ.

    Chacune des faces du p1at_aau 78 et -du con- tre-plateau 79 qui se trouvent en regard l'une de l'autre portent une courone de douze alvéoles 83. L'écart ménagé entre les deux plateaux est tel qu'une bille 84 trouve exactement sa place dans la partie la plus profonde de l'espace formé par deux alvéoles se faisant vis-à-vis. Dans ces -conditions, on peut ôbserver que le mouvement, @de rotation d'un des plateaux ne peut se produire sans entrainer soit la rotation de l'autre, soit le recul dudit plateau.

  Speed multiplication and reduction device for all mechanical applications. The present invention relates to a speed multiplication and reduction device making it possible to obtain the passage from one speed-given to another, with a multiplication or reduction rate vou read.

       According to the invention, the device is formed in such a way that the movement is transmitted from the motor shaft to the driven shaft by means of round members, with planetary movement, not toothed, these members being arranged between the two shafts in at least one ring-shaped group and resting against a rotating inner raceway and a non-rotating outer raceway.

   In addition, at least one drive part is provided which is in effective connection, on the one hand, with the round members, and, on the other hand, with one of the shafts, while the other shaft is in contact. effective connection with the internal rolling path, the whole in such a way that when the device is actuated the drive part, the round members and one of the shafts rotate at a speed different from that of the inner bearing and the other shaft.

      Several embodiments of the object of the invention are shown, by way of example, in the accompanying drawing, in which: FIG. 1. shows in longitudinal section, the first embodiment; Figs. 2 and 3 respectively show in front view and in longitudinal-section an alternative embodiment; Figs. 4. And 5 show in longitudinal section and. a front view of the second embodiment; Fig. 6 shows in longitudinal section the third embodiment;

    Fig. 7 is a front view taken along line A-A of FIG. 6; Fig. 8 shows in elevation, one of the elements of the device shown in FIG. G; Fig. 9 partially shows a section taken along line B-B of FIG. 8;

    Fig. 10 shows in longitudinal section a fourth embodiment particularly applicable to the control of the propellers of airplanes;

    Fig. 11 partially shows a section along the line C-C of FIG. 1.0; Fig. 12 shows a section approximately on line D-D in FIG. i0; Fig. 13 shows in elevation one of the members of the device shown in FIG. 10; Fig. 14 is a section along the line L'-D of FIG. 13.

  The device along line 1 is based on the principle that, if, making the outer crown of an ordinary annular ball bearing of the type called "ring-cage" type motionless, the crown is rotated. .cage, it will be noted that the inner ring gear rotates at a speed 2 to 3 (or more) times greater than that printed on the cage ring. Conversely, the opposite effect (reduction in speed) is. observed, if the inner crown is being rotated.

   Based on these facts, the device shown in fig. 1 comprises six annular ball bearings, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6, of the current type, separated by flat rings <B> 7 </B>, 8, 9, 10 and 11 which keep them at a suitable distance inside a tube 12 serving as an envelope or housing for the entire movement. Two flanges 13, 14 screwed to the two ends of the tube 12 ensure the tightening of the assembly and the immobility of the outer rings of each of the bearings.

   The first of these bearings 1 will be; only the support at the end of axis 15 which receives the original rotational movement (in the case where the apparatus is used as a speed multiplier). The plate 16 made integral with the end of the axle 15 transmits the movement of the latter to the ring gear (not shown) of the bearing 2;

   a similar plate 161 made integral with the inner crown of the bearing 2, here, by means of a counter-plate 1.7 joined to the plate 7.61 by an eccentric screw 18 (any other suitable connection method could be used) , transmits the movement, already multi folded a first time by the unit rate, to. the crown cage of the next bearing 3.

    The same device is repeated, consecutively, from rolling to rolling until rolling 6 to the inner ring of which the end of the shaft 19 is fixed, the speed of rotation of which is the result of all the successive multiplications obtained by l action of the bearings reacting on each other.

  Instead of acting, as said above, on the crown cage of each bearing to. balls, one can advantageously use the device shown in fig. 2 and 3, in which the cage is removed. In addition, between two consecutive balls is introduced a small tit roller 20; in the example shown, eight. rollers are arranged in a crown on one of the faces of the plate 16. The latter device provides good drive of the balls and appreciably reduces friction.

  There is. instead of observing crude, in the device described above, the balls of each constituent bearing play the role of round, non-toothed transmission bodies with planetary motion, between the outer crown and the inner crown. As is known from the report, the speeds of the inner crown and of the plate which controls it via the cage crown and round members -is equal to the report.

         , (diameters of the raceways of the outer ring and of the inner ring increased by 1. Thus, in the case where the diameter of the raceway of the outer ring is 60 mm, and that of the inner ring 40 mm, the
EMI0002.0049

    rate <SEP> of <SEP> multiplication <SEP> will be <SEP> of <SEP> 40 <SEP> -f- <SEP> 1 <SEP> 1.5 <SEP> -E- <SEP> 1 <SEP> - <SEP> 2.5. We can thus obtain, if necessary. a high multiplication, by making react. as in the previous device, a first system on a second, and, if you want this second on a third, etc.

  In the device according to FIGS. 4 and 5, a ball bearing 21 maintains the primary shaft 22 provided with a shoulder on which is fixed a piece 23 of flat steel cut in the shape of a star with three branches, each of which drives by means of a t.ou- rillon 231 one of the three sleeves 24, 25 and 26 which to reduce friction are each mounted on two ball bearings mounted on the corresponding journal.

   These sleeves, which in the present embodiment play the role of round, non-toothed, transmission members circulate on an elastic spring steel circle 27 which encloses them by exerting a slight pressure on them.

   A second, that is, thicker 571 rigid and slightly wider than the first surrounds. This one; a very small clearance is created between the rigid outer circle and the elastic inner circle, which thus retains a certain flexibility and is only prevented from turning by three small equidistant screws 28 which, crossing the outer circle, enter three Corresponding cavities made in the elastic circle on the outer face of the latter.

   The three sleeves 24, 25 and 26 transmit to a fixed central 29 - against which they are pressed, the rotational movement which results from their rolling on the elastic ring of steel 27. The multiplication rate obtained is equal to the value of the ratio which .exists between the internal diameter of the elastic circle and the diameter of the central axis, value increased by 7 ..

  Has a development of the central axis 29, is; fixed a second star piece 30 similar to the piece 23 and which drives a second group of three sleeves 31, 32 and 33, which circulating inside an elastic ring 34 identical to the circle 27 of the first group, press by entraining with the same rate of multiplication, a second central axis 35 which, if one accepts, for the constituent parts of the apparatus, the proportions indicated by the attached traces, would rotate at a rate of 25 turns for the revolution of the primary shaft, the inherent rate of multiplication of each of the groups of three sleeves being 5.

   A, the rest is. I set up a third group and the overall multiplication is 125 (or 5g).

  The three groups of three sleeves with their elastic and rigid circles and their central axes are arranged inside a drum 12 which serves as an envelope and as a frame for the assembly; intermediate rings 7, 8, 9 maintain the necessary spacings and finally, the drum 12 forming a casing is closed by two covers or flanges 13, 14 on one of which are fixed the two zoule- m.ents .balls 21 which support the primary artery 15; the other carrying the bearing 37 which supports the secondary shaft 19.

  Although: the apparatus described is theoretically reversible and capable of being indifferently employed - as a multiplier or as a speed reducer, it should be considered that this second form of execution almost always implies the need to exercise an appreciable effort - to overcome a resistance: more or less important; however,. in the device described, the rotational movements are transmitted only by members, bearing, balls or sleeves acting by simple friction. We can therefore fear:

   that slips occur, which could present inconveniences, even dangers, if it were lying, for example, of lifting devices. These drawbacks can be easily avoided, in the second embodiment, by providing all the surfaces. bearing: central axes, rollers, elastic circles, transverse, straight, helical or chevron ridges, ridges which could be very simply and very economically obtained by knurling before hardening.

  They are used advantageously in all cases where the ratio of speeds, primary and secondary, should be kept strictly fixed.

  Figs. 6, 7, 8 and 9 show a third embodiment comprising a positive device intended to obtain the adhesion of round, non-toothed, moving bodies; planetary with their: raceways (and, consequently , to ensure the training of the various parts of the .system) by a reaction effect of the resistance to be overcome and.

    this., under conditions such that adhesion: obtained is always and automatic- proportional to this resistance. The shaft, the primary 15 is supported by the bearing; i balls 34 and .by the ball bearing 38 which opposes its recoil in the isiens of the engine.

   On the inside of the device, the primary shaft ends in a plate 37 which carries four fingers 39, coming to engage in the axle holes of four ball bearings 40 arranged in a crown, op posed two by two and wrapped in a ring 41. in a half-torus so that each bearing 40 constitutes with its ring 41 a kind of spherical roller.

   Said rollers have four points of contact with their raceways: the first with part 42 of the outer raceway, this part being fixed, in the sense that it is abutted towards the motor shaft by a cover projection -flange 13 which on this side closes the casing 12, enclosing the system high, the cond with part 43 of the outer rolling path, this part being mobile, in that it can move away or approach more or less of the raceway 42;

    but the parts 42 and 43 of the outer rolling path cannot rotate; they are prevented from doing so by a certain number of in, orrjons (at least three on the periphery of the circular raceway) implanted in the fixed spacer rings 44.

   These studs immobilize the outer bearing ahomin from the point of view of rotation while leaving part 43 a certain clearance in the longitudinal direction. The third and fourth .points of contact of the spherical rollers 36 take place avre.c le, inner raceway which comprises two parts: a part 45 integral with the central axis 45a. around which they perform their planetary movement, and a part 46 in the form of a sleeve which partly surrounds the central axis.

   These two parts are mounted concentrically; the central axis 45a can r1 advance or retreat in the longitu- clïnal direction, because of ball bearings 47 interposed between it and the plate 37; the sleeve! 6 thanks to a lug 48 is integral with the central axis 45a. on point. view of the rotation. but it has, with respect to the latter, a slight play in the longitudinal direction.

   Towards the rear of the system, that is to say -on the side op- podi to the primary shaft, the part 46 widens into a plate 49 which is brought into contact with the part 43 of the wheel path. - the non-rotating external lenient and can even transmit pressure to cetto @ last via the ring of balls 50.

   Behind, from plate 49 and mounted like him. concentrically with the central axis is another plate 371 similar to plate 37 and, for all the rest, similarly arranged.

   Between the two plates 49 and <B> 371 </B> is a ring of balls 51 which do not have a continuous circular rolling path, but are housed in a series of six cells 52 (fig. 8 and 9 ) practiced symmetrically opposite each other in each of the two plates 49 and 371 on the opposite faces one a, the other. The distance formed between the two plates is such that one of the balls 51 finds its exact place in the deepest part of the space formed by two cells facing each other.

   Under these conditions, it can be observed that the rotational movement of one of the plates cannot occur without causing either the rotation of the other or. the retreat of said plate because, as a result of the relative displacement, each ball no longer finding its place in the maximum hollow of the cells, because of the slope of the latter, forces the plates to move away.

   This backward movement, exclusively undergone by the plate 49 which alone can move longitudinally, is transmitted directly to the sleeve 46 which rail; body with the plate 49, and indirect- in (si) t, via the ring of balls 50 closing the stop, to the part 43 .du cliernin outer bearing. It is this positive saying that automatically ensures, @coimme it has been said more. high, the adhesion of the rollers and their tracks, always proportional to the resistance to be overcome.

   The plates 3'71 and 27 = fulfill, with respect to two other groups of rollers, the same role as the plate 37 in the device which has just been exposed. The same organs, apparently arranged and bearing the same numberings (except the indices 1 and =) are found in this second and this third group, and act in the same way, each group multiplying (as in the two forms of (execution previously described), the preliminary speed = ably obtained by the proper rate of multiplication of each group.

   For a series of three groups, the overall multiplication will therefore be! Hl "(M being the initial rate); this speed is ultimately transmitted by the auxiliary plate 373 to the secondary arbr@e. 19 supported by the bearing 341 and the thrust ball 381, which opposes the backward movement in the direction opposite to that of the primary motor shaft.

  All these devices would act in the same way, would go in the opposite direction, if the apparatus were employed as a speed reducer; the shaft 19 which has become the primary motor shaft transmitting its reduced speed to the shaft 15 according to the overall reduction rate achieved by the system.

  Finally, figs. 10, 11, 12, 13 and 14 represent a device specially designed .for the control of aviation propellers. Reduction or multiplication is obtained without the use of gears or intermediate axles, the propeller being mounted directly on the extension of the motor shaft.

  It is no longer a question of obtaining a high rate of reduction or multiplication, such as the 50-100-125 to 1, achieved in the preceding examples; rates of 2, 2.5 or 3 to 1 would suffice to give a propeller a speed of 800 to 1000 rpm, at the most, with an engine running at speeds of 2000 or 3000 rpm.

  The whole assembly is enclosed in a casing in two parts 52 and 53, joined at 54 by a crown of screws 55. This casing has several projections internally. dres sées on which are based the various documents listed below.

  The shaft 56, which will be the motor if it is a multiplication, is supported by the ball bearing 57 - and by the ball stop 58 which opposes its retreat in the direction of the motor. , has at 59 an opening in the form of a circular plate, of which FIG. It shows the front view.

   On the perimeter of said plate, eight cylindrical cavities 60 are made, each of which serves as a housing for a: set made up of two ordinary ball bearings 61 and 62 through the center of which passes an axis 63, including a shoulder 64 rests on the outer face of the inner crown @of the bearing 61; an intermediate plate 65 maintains the spacing of the two bearings and the tightening of the whole is assumed by a shoulder plug 66 resting on the outer face of the ball bearing 62 and by the screw 67 which joins the all.

   This screw is eccentric to prevent any loosening from occurring due to rotation, whatever the direction. Each of the axes 63 beyond its shoulder 64 mentioned above, splits into a spherical roller 68; the internal face of the plate 59 thus presents as a ring of eight of these rollers, serving as rands members, not toothed and with planetary movement (fig. 10 and 12).

  Each roller 68 has four points of contact with its raceways; the first with part 69 of the outer circular rolling path, this part being fixed, in the sense that it abuts: on the motor shaft side, at an internal projection of the housing 52; the second with part 70: of the outer circular scraping, this part being mobile in that it can approach or deviate more or less from the ring 69.

   On the other hand, the two parts of the outer running track cannot turn; they are prevented from doing so by the presence for each circle of three equidistant screws which, passing through the wall of the casing 52, engage in the corresponding blind holes made in the circles 69 and 70; only one of these screws. per circle. is visible in the drawing at 71 and 71I. The third and.

         fourth points: of contact of the rollers 68 take place with the inner raceway comprising a part 72 integral with the central axis 74, of which its journal 75 engages in a corresponding cavity 76 made at the end of the carrier shaft -propeller '77.

  The second part, 73 - of the path, of the internal bearing in the form of a sleeve partially enveloping the central axis 74 is integral with a plate 78 which itself forms part of an assembly, of which FIG. 13, shows a view in the longitudinal direction and FIG. 14 a front view of the counter-plate 79. The central axis 74 cannot move in the longitudinal direction on the side of the plate 59 of the shaft 56; its movement is limited by the ball stop 80; @on the side of the shaft 77, the end of the journal 75 bears on the bottom of the cavity 76.

   The plate 78, can slide ser longitudinally on the central axis 74, tris it can turn only with it thanks to the key 81. The back plate 79 mounted, opposite the plate 78, on the end of the 'ar bre 77, can neither advance, nor retreat, nor turn on this shaft without dragging it in its movement;

      it is prevented from doing so by the three captive keys 82 (fig. 14), which, passing through three mortises made in the wall of the cavity 76 and introduced from the inside thereof, before the pin 75 is driven in, come to engage in three housings made in the socket of the counter-plate 79 and only allow a slight longitudinal displacement of about 1 nm.

    Each of the faces of the p1at_aau 78 and -of the counter-plate 79 which are located opposite one another bear a crown of twelve cells 83. The distance formed between the two plates is such as a ball 84 finds its place exactly in the deepest part of the space formed by two cells facing each other. Under these -conditions, it can be observed that the movement, @de rotation of one of the plates cannot occur without causing either the rotation of the other, or the recoil of said plate.

   The contact and the initial adhesion of the raceways 70 and 73 are ensured by the intermediary of the plates 78 and 79 and the rings of balls 84 and 841 by the pressure of the spring 85, which rests on the internal face of the ball. the inner race of the ball bearing 571 which supports the propeller shaft 77. The latter is also held and prevented from moving longitudinally forward by the stop. ball 86 supported on the intermediate ring 871 which fulfills the side of the shaft 77, the same role as the. intermediate ring 87 on the side of the motor shaft 56. A base 88 serves as a support for the bearing 571.

   All the constituent elements of this device, especially applied to aviation propellers: having now been listed and described, and their respective locations indicated, it is easy to understand the operation of the apparatus: If the device is to function as a reduction gear , the shaft 77 is a motor.

   When the motor starts to move, its speed transmitted by the shaft elements 77, 75, 74 to the parts 72 and 73 of the inner race is communicated by these to the planetary rollers <B> 6S </B> and, consequently, to the plate 59, of which they are integral, and through it to the shaft 56, with a reduction of 1 /, in the case shown.

   Platen 79 is first entered while 78 opposes movement resistance. but we have seen that, by the play: of balls 84 in their cells 83, the slightest relative displacement of the plate 79 with respect to .au tantre-plate 78 causes a retreat, from this last to the rollers 68; this decline suffered directly by part 73 of the inner raceway and. transmitted to the part 70 of the outer raceway by the ring of balls 841, has the effect of increasing the adhesion, of the raceways and of the rollers, and this all the more energetically as the resistance is higher. strong.

  The play of this device therefore has the effect, as in those which are represented in fig. 6 to 9, to automatically provide adhesion between the rollers and their tracks, always proportional to the resistance to be overcome; training is therefore ensured whatever the resistance and while retaining the softness, due to the absence of any shock, which characterizes the transmission of movement by friction and rolling, without gearing.

   It should be noted that the device described above can only work on condition that the casing 52--53 is immobilized with respect to the shafts <B> 56 </B>, and 77 - and made, for example, integral with the engine.

  As a multiplier, the device can be used, for example, to control fans, grinding and polishing machines, dynamos (by slow-running motors), cream separators, wringers, sirens; cil aviation, to the rapid rotation of the propellers without it being necessary to demand an exaggerated speed from the engines; for the purely mechanical launching of the -projectiles, it will make it possible to practically produce the centrifugal machine gun with high flow rate and continuous action.

  Reducing rubber, it can be used, for example, in the construction of washing machines, jacks, jacks, hoists etc. at the control of all mechanical parts by ino- i.eu@s fast running: -dynamos, internal combustion engines, turbines, etc., the speed of which must be considerably reduced.
