Description

Switch device for electrical circuits. The present invention relates to a switch device for electric circuits, having the particular feature that a control coil of a circuit breaker is connected in series with a closed container with electrodes, vacuum, forming an electric vacuum valve (valve hot cathode so that a current is caused to pass through said coil when a s-rf- fifying potential is applied across this valve to break its resistance.

Figs. 1, 2 and 3 of the appended drawing represent, by way of example, and in a schematic manner, three embodiments of the object of the invention. In all of the figures, the same numbers designate the same parts.

Referring to fig. 1, an alternating current circuit 1 is provided with a circuit breaker 2 combined with a control coil 3 and with a closed electrode container, vacuum, 4, forming an electric vacuum valve (hot cathode valve) , whose cathode 5 is connected, by the intermediary of a transformer 6, to a series transformer 7 associated with circuit 1. A second series transformer, 8, associated with circuit 1 is connected in circuit with a resistance 9.

One terminal of the control coil 3 is connected to the anode 10 and the electric vacuum valve 4, while its other terminal is connected to terminal 11 of the resistor 9, the other terminal of which, 12, is connected. at a point 13 between the secondary winding 14 of transformer 6 and cathode 5 of electric vacuum valve 4. Primary winding 17 of transformer 6 is connected to transformer 7.

The resistor 9 is proportioned in such a way that when a predetermined value of current flows through the circuit 1, sufficient voltage is printed across its terminals to break the resistance of the electric vacuum valve 4 and allow current to flow through it. This and consequently also the control coil 3 of the circuit breaker in order to produce the opening thereof. The cathode 5 is heated from the transformer 7 by the intermediary of the transformer 6 which, thanks to its saturation, prevents overheating of the cathode.

As the resistor 9 can be of any desired value, depending on the current value at which it is desired that the electric vacuum valve 4 become operative, it is understood that no current passes through the control coil 3 as long as the conditions This does not occur to require the opening of circuit breaker 2. When these conditions occur, that is to say when the current of circuit 1 reaches its predetermined value, sufficient current can flow through the electric valve. vacuum 4 to energize control coil 3 with a view to opening circuit breaker 2.

In the variant of FIG. 2, there is only one series-transformer 15 in circuit 1, the portion 16 of which is connected in parallel with the primary winding 17 of the transformer 6, while its portion 18 is connected to point 13 between the cathode 5 and winding 14 of transformer 6. Control coil 3 of circuit breaker 2 is connected between anode 10 and electric vacuum valve 4 and point 19 between portion 16 of transformer 15 and bearing 17 of transformer 6. In this arrangement, only one transformer is needed to cause the opening of the circuit breaker 2 when a predetermined current value crosses the circuit 1.

In the embodiment of FIG. 3, the cathode 5 of the electric vacuum valve 4 is connected to the terminals of the winding 14 of the transformer 6 and the winding 17 of the latter is connected to the series transformer 7. A control circuit 20 , which is supplied either with alternating current or with direct current, is provided for the excitation of the control coil 3 by means of the electric vacuum valve 4. The anode 10 thereof is connected to the conductor 21 of the control circuit 20, the conductor 22 of which is connected to one terminal of the control coil 3, the other terminal thereof being connected to point 13 between the cathode 5 and the winding 14 of the transformer 6.

In this arrangement, when there is sufficient potential in the circuit 20, this potential applied to the electric vacuum valve 4 will break the resistance thereof to allow a suitable current to flow to excite the control coil 3. the opening of the circuit breaker 2.
