Device for cleaning transparent plates. The object of the invention is a device for cleaning transparent plates such as vehicle windows, etc., characterized in that it comprises an external cleaning member pivoting on an axis urged by a spring tending to maintain the cleaning member applied against the glass, while it is being operated for cleaning, using a lever attached to the inner end of the shaft.
The accompanying drawing, given by way of example, shows two embodiments of the invention.
Fig. 1 shows, seen from the inside, a device fixed to the wooden frame of a window; Fig. 2 is a section of FIG. 1; Fig. 3 shows a device fixed to the metal frame of a windscreen glass; Fig. 4 is an axial section of the same positive dis.
In the embodiment of FIGS. 1 and 2, a is a glass embedded in a wooden frame b. The latter is crossed by a tubular bolt c fixed with a nut d.
The bolt c is crossed by a shaft e carrying, on the one hand, an arm f carrying the cleaning bar g (felt, rubber, etc.) and, on the other hand, a lever h used to operate the cleaning organ.
A spring i is interposed between the lever h and the bolt c; it tends to press the organ g against the pane a.
By turning the handle h a quarter of a turn, sometimes in one direction, sometimes in the other, the arm f is given a movement which cleans the window a over a fan-shaped surface which is sufficient to discover the view.
In the embodiment shown in FIGS. 3 and 4, the window a is provided with a metal frame b to which the shaft e is fixed using the flanges k and l tightened against each other using the tubular bolt c. The latter passes freely through the flange k and is screwed into the flange l. An adjustment screw m, screwed into the latter presses against the tail of the flange k and produces the tightening of the frame b between the flanges k and l.
The operation of this form of execution is exactly the same as that of the first. The cleaning organ g may be impregnated with a chemical substance preventing the recurrence of mist after it has been removed. The flanges k and l, connected to each other by the bolt c and the pressure screw m, can be formed so as to enclose a frameless window.
The apparatus can be constructed with two cleaning organs, one exterior, the other interior.
The axis carrying the cleaning member can be placed at any point of the frame of the transparent plate.
It can also cross the latter instead of crossing its frame.
