Installation pour bureaux centraux téléphoniques automatiques. Dans les régions desservies par plusieurs bureaux centraux téléphoniques automatiques, ceux-ci sont reliés entre eux par différentes lignes de jonction, et les abonnés d'un de ces bureaux doivent pouvoir non seulement communiquer avec les autres abonnés du bu reau central auquel leur ligne appartient;

Installation for central automatic telephone offices. In regions served by several automatic telephone central offices, these are linked to each other by different trunk lines, and the subscribers of one of these offices must not only be able to communicate with the other subscribers of the central office to which their line belongs. ;
but also with subscribers from other central offices through these trunk lines. When a subscriber calls, the number of the requested line is registered by a control mechanism at the office to which the line of the calling subscriber terminates, and this mechanism then controls the automatic switches of that office to connect the calling line with the line called.
If the called line belongs to a different central office than the calling line, the number of this line first registered by the control mechanism, of the calling office must be transferred to the remote called office where it is registered again by the mechanism. command of this office, which then controls the corresponding automatic switches to find the called line.
It is therefore necessary that the control mechanism of an automatic central office works differently if it is a local call or a call to a remote office, so that in the latter case after registration , a transfer device comes into action and transmits this number to the control mechanism of the called remote office.
The present invention relates to an installation for central automatic telephone offices in which a recording mechanism is adapted to be activated in accordance with the number of the line requested. According to this invention a means is provided which operates under the control of the recording mechanism for actuating a second recording mechanism in accordance with the movement of the first, automatic selector switches being arranged to operate under the control of the second recording mechanism and prolong the call to. the requested line.
The drawings which represent, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention, show the arrangement provided for in a region served by a main central office and several secondary offices, called satellite offices , the subscribers born from one of these last offices can communicate with the subscribers of the main central office. Figs. 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 relate to the part of the installation relating to one of these satellite offices, while the fi. 6, 7 and 8 refer to the part of the installation relating to the main central office.
For a connection between two lines of the satellite office, fig. 1, 2 and 5 must be placed one after the other with fig. 3 and 4 placed under fig. 2. For a satellite call to the main central office; fig. 6 replaces fig. 5 and fig. 7 and 8 should be placed under fig. 6. The main central office and the satellite offices are linked by trunk lines, and when a subscriber of a satellite wants to communicate with a subscriber of the main exchange, the desired connections are made through one of these lines. junction.
On the contrary, if the calling subscriber of the satellite office wishes to obtain a communication with one of the other subscribers of the same satellite office, the desired connections are made without no trunk line to the central office being used, nor without any device from this central office going into action. Since the capacity of the satellite is relatively small compared to that of the central office, the number of operations required for a connection between two subscribers of the central office is greater than that required for a connection between two subscribers of the satellite. In addition, the number of operations necessary for making a connection between a subscriber of a satellite and a subscriber of the central office is greater due to that necessary for a connection between two subscribers of the satellite.
In the example shown in the drawings, the capacity of the main central office is assumed to be 20,000 lines, but can reach 100,000 with the operating mechanism described, using all the rows of the group selectors. The satellite office of fig. 1 to 5 can have any capacity up to 1,800 lines, but it has been assumed in the example described that its capacity is only 400 lines, and therefore three seek operations are only necessary to connect between them two subscribers of this satellite.
It is, however, desirable that the subscriber numbers of these various offices (main exchange and satellites) all contain the same number of digits, because then the same type of service can be used for all subscribers, and these do not need not worry about what kind of office the requested line is from.
In the satellite office, the subscriber leagues are divided into groups, each of these groups being served by primary line seekers. One of these lines of subscriber is shown on the left part of FIG. 1, coming from a subscriber station indicated at 240 and terminating at terminals 210, 238, 264, 265. This line is equipped with a satellite office in the ordinary manner, and includes a line relay 201, a cut-off relay 207 , and a counter relay 208.
The relay 201 controls the start relay 204 common to all the primary line seekers serving the group to which the indicated line belongs. One of these primary line seekers is shown to the right of fig. 1 with its control circuits, and includes an electro-magnet 211 which sets the brush holder carriage in motion as soon as the relay 204 is energized during a recall.
The group of brushes of this seeker is shown cry 260, 261, 262, 263, and when it has connected the calling line, it connects it through a connecting circuit to the terminals of a secondary line finder such as 'the one shown on the left of FIG. 2. This secondary line finder is then set to movement by its electromagnet motor 221, searching for the terminals of this connection circuit on which its brushes 230, 233, .'343, 244 stop.
The control circuits of the secondary league researcher depend on a combiner 220 which closes and opens, according to the different positions it occupies, the contacts shown in fig. 2 above the dotted line.
The satellite office also includes several recording mechanisms, one of which is shown in figs. 3 and 4. A combiner 280, following the operation of the combiner 220, searches for a free recording mechanism and connects it to the connection circuit used in the call. Each recording mechanism comprises five recorders, so that each of the five series of pulses transmitted to the satellite and corresponding to the number of any requested line of the telephone network, are recorded independently of the office to which it belongs.
The recording mechanism shown in figs. 3 and 4 comprises: a ten thousand 100 recorder, a 110 thousand recorder, a 120 cent recorder, a 130 tens recorder, and a 140 units recorder. Each of these recorders, shown in the drawing with their contacts in pointed rectangles, include a combiner with ten positions. Each combiner occupies a position corresponding to the number of pulses sent during the movement of the recorders, then rotates through the remaining positions in order to control the operation of the selectors, and these remaining positions represent the complement of the number of pulses sent.
In order for the switches to be controlled in accordance with the numbers of the lines called, the voyeur disks placed at subscriber stations must send the complement of the real number to the recorders. The last break in the line for each series is comparatively longer than the previous ones.
When the recorder mechanism shown has been chosen and connected by combiner 280, combiner 320 of this mechanism successively connects the five recorders to the connection circuit, and these record the series of dots one after the other. 'pulses sent by the calling subscriber, each of these series corresponding to a digit of the called number. The control of the switches to terminate the connection takes place during the reestablishment of the recorders, which reestablishment is in turn controlled by the combiner 350.
If the number received by the satellite recorders belongs to a line of this office, only the last three recorders are activated to control the following switches which must complete the connection. The recorder 120, returning to standby, moves the group selector indicated to the right of FIG. 2 by its electromagnet 248 of the brush chooser and by its electromagnet 241 of the brush holder carriage. By this selector, the recording mechanism is connected to the final selector shown in fig. 5.
The .130 and 140 recorders returning to idle, move this final selector so that the connection is completed with the called line of the satellite office. The final selector is represented by its motor electromagnet 448 of the brush chooser and by its motor electromagnet 461 of the brush holder carriage. The movement of the final selector is controlled by the combiner 450.
If the called subscriber belongs to the main central office, the group selector in fig. 2 of the satellite office is automatically advanced on a free junction line connecting the satellite office and the main central office, and this without disturbing the recorders of the positions which they have occupied following the sending of the impulses by the 'calling subscriber. As soon as a similar line is connected to the satellite office, a combiner 580 of the remote central office (fig. 6) searches for a free recording mechanism from this office and connects it to this trunk line. A similar recording mechanism is shown in figs. 7 and 8 and is analogous to the recording mechanism of the satellite office.
It includes a ten thousand recorder 700, a thousand recorder 710, a hundreds recorder 720, a tens recorder 730 and a unit recorder 740. At the satellite office (fig. 4), a transfer combiner 150 brings back the recorders 100, 110, 120, 130 and 140 of this office at rest, sending at the same time through the chosen junction line pulses equal to the number of steps taken by these recorders to return at rest. Under the action of these pulses, the recorders of the main central office move under the control of combiner 620, to then return to standby under the control of combiner 650.
During this last maneuver, the successive selectors of the main central office are actuated to search for the requested line. In fig. 6, only the combiner 520 and the first selector have been shown, the latter being indicated by its motor electromagnet 548 of the brush chooser and its motor electromagnet 541 of the brush holder carriage. The other selectors have not been indicated because they are well known and do not form an integral part of the invention.
The operation of the installation is better understood by referring to the following description in which it is assumed on board that a subscriber of the satellite office calls another subscriber of the same satellite office, then it is assumed that the subscriber calling from the satellite office calls a subscriber at the main central office.
Let the satellite subscriber 40 calling the subscriber 440 from his own office. By removing the receiver from the switch hook the calling subscriber closes a circuit through the left of 201, the outer frame of 207, the line circuit, the inner frame of 207, and the right of 201. Relay 201 closes a circuit for the internal windings of 204; thus placing a call potential on all multiple test terminals such as 210 terminating in the primary line seekers which have access to the group in which the calling line is located.
The 204 relays close the circuit by their armatures in parallel, the motor electromagnets 211 of all the primary line searchers indicated above, and the armatures of 212 and 213. All the brush-holder carriages of all the searchers begin to spin in the well-known manner, advancing their brushes such as 260, 261, 2 62 and 263 on multiple terminals 210, 238, 264 and 265 in search of the calling line. As soon as a seeker's test brush 260 passes over terminal 210 of the calling line, a circuit is closed across the right of 214, which, when excited, closes a circuit through its left at low resistance and 212.
This circuit, being bypassed to the right of 214, reduces the potential of multiple terminals 210, which places the calling line in a busy condition. At the time of the 212 excitation, the primary carer's brushes are exactly centered on the terminals of the calling line. The armature of 212 being attracted opens the circuit of 211, and hence the brush carriage stops. rit circuit is now closed through the idle frames of 213 and at work of 212, and the multiple terminals 242 leading to the secondary researchers of leagues, one of which is shown in fig. 2.
A call point is thus placed on these multiple terminals. A circuit in parallel with the previous one is established through 215 and 216 which, when excited, completes a circuit through 216 (1) and 222. The excitation of 222 closes a circuit through the idle armatures of 231 and to the work of 222, the resting reinforcement of 232, 221, 229 (1). The electric motor stop 221 sets in motion the brush-holder carriage of the secondary researcher whose brushes 230, 233, 243 and 244 seek on the terminals of the connection circuits leading to the primary researchers, that of the latter. who connected to the calling line.
When test brush 230 meets terminal 242, a circuit is closed through armatures at rest of 213 and at work of 212, 242, 230, 228 (1), the high resistance straight of 234, armature lower at rest of 224, 245 (1) and 281 (1). Relay 234, when energized, closes a circuit in parallel with the previous circuit, through the left winding at low resistance, the armature at work and the relay. 232. This results in lowering the potential of multiple terminals 242 and thus preventing another secondary investigator from also connecting the connecting circuit. The excitation of 232 opens the circuit of 221 which stops the carriage with the brushes centered on the calling connection line.
A circuit is closed through 220, 217 (1), the working frames of 232 and 222, and the resting frame of 231. The combiner 200 moves from its one to four positions.
For positions 3 to 13 of 200, a circuit is closed through 207, 238, 261, 213, 238, 235, upper armature at rest of 224 and 226. The energized relay 207 opens the circuit of 201 which in turn opens that of 204, which stops all the line seekers still in motion. 213 being excited in series with 207, and 212 being neutralized, the circuit of 216 is opened. 235 which is also energized, closes the circuit of the calling line at 236 and 239. Since 220 is now in its position 3, a branch is placed on the calling line through 231, 236, the armature of 235, the line circuit, the upper mature ar of 235, 239, and the self-induction coil 237.
Relay 231 is energized through this circuit. When 220 has left position 2, it has opened its contact 216 to allow the reestablishment of 222, and later, when it leaves position 3, it opens in 228 the circuit of 234 and 232 which are neutralized. Restoring 222 has no effect at this time.
For position four of 220, a recording controller mechanism is chosen. A combiner 280 tests this mechanism and connects it to the connection circuit (Fig. 2). The circuit of 280 comprises 225, 245 and 281. The circuits of the recording mechanisms of fig. 3 and 4 reproduce on contacts similar to 282, 283 and 284 of a series of. combiners 280 and are connected to the connection circuits indicated when 280 occupies positions one yes seven.
For these positions, if the mechanism shown is free, a circuit is closed at 323 (1), 282 and 281 (closed for its successive half-positions): Contacts 282 are arranged to close this test circuit when 281 is in one of its half-positions. 234 energized closes a low resistance circuit to its left, reducing the potential of conductor 293 to make the chosen mechanism busy. 232 opens the circuit 280 which remains idle, and closes a circuit at 217 (4), 245 (4) and 281 for 220 which goes to its position five. 236 and 239 are then open, 231 is neutralized, and the calling line is connected by 236 and 239 to the step-by-step relay 325, ready to transmit to the recorder pulses for the number of the called line.
When the mechanism is chosen, 323 being energized in series with 234, closes a circuit for 320 which leaves position one. After its position two, the circuit of 323 is opened at 322, which neutralizes 323 before position three of 320. For this one, one. circuit is closed through switch 333 and the primary of coil 324. Relay 323 closes a circuit in 327 (3) for 326, and when 325 is energized in series with the call line. lante, a circuit is closed in 330 (3) and 328 (3) for the ten thousand 100 recorder. The coil 331 is in parallel, and 329 being of the differential type does not work. 100 leaves its zero position closing its local contact 101 which therefore bypasses the line of 329.
This relay is energized and 100 goes to position one. 337 is also excited at 328 (3) until 100 reaches position one. The relay 329 remains energized on the make contact of 337. By this arrangement, 329 cannot be neutralized until 100 has traversed an entire position.
The caller receiving the auditory signal for positions one to three of 320, actuates his disc. At the first line interruption, 325 and 329 are successively neutralized. On the next close, 100 energized moves to position two and 329 is energized. At the second interrupt, 329 is neutralized. This maneuver continues, with the recorder moving forward one position for each interrupt. For each neutralization of 325 a circuit is momentarily closed. In 342 for 334 which being slow acting does not operate, but on the last interrupt this relay is energized and closes a circuit for the left of 323, which in turn brings 320 out of position three.
Before position five of 320, for which 342 is closed, the line circuit is completed to the disc, which successively neutralizes 334 and 323, maintaining 320 in its five position. 326 is neutralized for positions three to five of 320. For position four, 100 excited cry 328 and 330, takes an additional step to the position to which it was brought by the disc.
Control of 32â is now transferred from 100 to the thousand 100 recorder, and as soon as 326 is energized for position five of 320, 110 is energized at 105 and 328. As before, a parallel circuit is completed for the left of 329 which remains neutralized. When 110 leaves its zero position, it bypasses the right 329 which is working. When the subscriber triggers the second series of pulses, 325 is neutralized and 329 is energized for the first interrupt. 110 greed in position one. For each interrupt, 110 advances one position, and at the last, 334 and 323 are successively energized. 320 moves to position eight.
With the line circuit still closed, 325 is energized and 334-323 is neutralized. 320 remains gifted in her eight position. 326 is neutralized after position five, and is still energized for position eight, as before. A circuit is then closed cry 105 and 335 (8) for the recording of the hundreds 120. For the third series of pulses, 120 advances to the desired position under the control of 325. At the end of this series, 334 and 323 are exited and 320 goes to position ten. A circuit is closed at 105 and 33.5 (10) for the tens recorder 130, which following the fourth series of pulses moves under the control of 325. At the end of this series, 320 passes to its twelve position. .
A circuit is then closed at 105 and 336 (12) for the unit recorder 140 which is controlled by 325 following the last series of pulses. For the last interrupt in the line, 334 is energized and 320 moves to its fourteen position.
After the first three recorders have been moved, the selection of groups is performed. Loggers 100, 110 and 120 can determine whether the requested number belongs to the satellite or to the central office. Since the capacity of the system is 20,000 lines, these are numbered from 10,000 to 29; 999. Two positions of the recorder 100 are therefore used. If the first digit is tin, the line belonging to the first group of ten thousand, 100 avarice at its position nine, which is the complement of the desired digit. then comes back autorriatiquenient to its zero position.
If the first digit is two, the line belonging to the second group of ten thousand 100 moves to its eight position, then lies one more step to its nine position. For these nine or zero positions, 105 is always closed.
The satellite 4011 line numbers belong to the second group of ten thousand lines. In addition, these lines are placed in the second mile of the group of ten thousand, which corresponds to position eight of 110, and finally in the eighth, seventh, sixth and fifth groups of hundred lines of this second thousand, which correspond to the positions two, three, four and five of 120.
So for titi call - the one line of the satellite, 100 occupies its position nine, 110 its position eight, and 120 its positions two, three, four or five. 320 then moves from its eight to ten positions. 350 energized and) 352 and 103 and 338 leaves its one position and controls the reestablishment of the euregistrenrs during the switch selection movement. For position l 'b, relays 382 and 383 excited cry 106, 116, l. \ 37 and 370. are blocked by the left of 383 and 369. The combiner 350 switches to position two, three and four, and stops at position five through 380.
At the same time 357 energized, keeps the fundamental circuit open while moving 350.
For position two of 350, relay 350, which controls the re-establishment of the recorders, is energized at 35-1 and 152, thus keeping the recorders at rest as long as the fundamental circuit does not allow control of the group selector. . For position five of 350, 3.7 is neutralized and the fundamental circuit is completed in 247 (5), 283 and 380 (5). Relays 222 and 355 are energized while 359 is neutralized. 220 energized at 217 (5), goes from its five to six positions and completes a circuit at 227 (6) for brush chooser 248, which by turning bypasses 355 for each movement of the brushes.
At the first neutralization 355, 120 is energized at 122, 366 (5), 354 and 152, and a parallel circuit takes place for the line of 359. This relay 359 remains at rest while 120 leaves the position it has. occupied by the action of the disc. For each closure of 121, the left of 359 is shorted, and this relay operates. 120 moves under the control of 121 to its next position.
As 120 moves one position, 362 energized at 366 (5), 122 and 121, circuit in 153 to maintain the excitation of 359 until 120 reaches its new position. When the brush chooser reaches its third position, the short is broken at 250, and 355 is energized again. 121 being open, 362 and 369 are neutralized. 120 again excited advances to a new position; 355 is shorted a second time by 250, and 359 is neutralized. This maneuver continues until the zero position of -120, and when 355 is neutralized, 350 excited in 364 (5), 124, 366 (5), 354 and 152, goes to its six position. On this circuit, 357 is driven in parallel keeping the fundamental circuit open.
After 250 is opened, 222 is neutralized exciting 220 cry 251 (6) which moves to its seven position. 222 is now excited at 219 (7) 282 and 340.
The electro-motor 241, excited at 223 (7), actuates the group selector carriage which advances on the terminals of the junction lines of the chosen row. When a free line is found, a circuit is closed at 447 (1), 228 (7), 245 (7) and 281. Relay 234 energized, close low resistance path at 232 in parallel on the previous circuit. The potential of test terminal 266 is reduced and the line is made busy. 220 excited in 217 (7) goes to its new position. The recording equipment is then connected at 255 and 247 with the circuits of the final selector. The excitation of 232 also opens the circuit of 241, which stops the carriage.
The fundamental circuit prepared for the new position of 220 remains open to the recording mechanism until 350 is in its seven position, which takes place after 130 and 140 have been moved. At this moment, 320 occupies its fourteen position, and 350 excited in 352 (6) and 341; goes to its seven position. The fundamental circuit is completed at the final selector at 459 (1), 247 (9) 283, 356 (7), 284, 255 (9) and 458 (1). Relays 355 and 452 are energized, and 451 (1) being closed, 450 goes to position two.
The electromagnet 448 of the brush selector is then energized, and the recorder 130 returns to its normal position through 132, 366 (7) 152 to control the tens selection of the final selector in the same manner as when resetting the switch. recorder 120. Relay 357, energized in parallel, maintains the fundamental circuit open. 350 then advances to its new position.
When opening 455 after resetting 130, relay 452 is deactivated since the fundamental circuit is open to the recording mechanism. 450 moves to position 5 through 445, and 250 leaving position seven opens the circuit of 337 and 366. The fundamental circuit is therefore further completed at the recording mechanism for position nine of 350 before 450 reaches, its position five. The relays 452 and 355 are energized and a circuit is completed for the electromagnet 461 at 446 (5).
The carriage of the final selector rotates, driving the brushes 470, 471, 473 on the terminals of the tens row determined by the chooser. For each set of terminals tested, 355 is shorted through 457. Relay 452 remains energized, and 355 is shorted through 453 (5). The 140 units recorder returns to idle through 142, 367 (9) and 152. When the brushes occupy the desired terminals, and when 355 is neutralized, 350 energized in 364 (9), 144 (0), 143 (0 ), 367 (9) and 152 move to position twelve.
For position ten of 350; 339 energized at 368 (10) and 369, opens the circuit of 222. A closed circuit at 251 (9) brings 220 to its ten position, then to its eleven position through 258 (i0). After 220 position nine, the calling subscriber line is disconnected from the recording mechanism at 239 and 236, and is connected in series with 231 and coil 237. The neutralized relay 325 energizes 220 at 348 (14), which moves to position fifteen. A circuit is then completed in 367 (12) and 343 (15) for 350 which goes to its thirteen position.
100 and 110 which have remained at rest during the movement of the switches, return to their normal positions. The 100 circuit includes 102 (9), 361 (13) and 343 (15). For the zero position of 100, 350 moves to its fourteen position through 379 (13), 363 (13), 104 (0), 361 (13) and 343 (13). Recorder 110 returns to idle through 112, 361 (14) and 343 (15).
The combiner 350 is then successively brought to the following positions: position fifteen through 379, 363 (14), 114 (0), 361 (14) and 343 (15); position sixteen through 379 (15), 364 (15), 124, 366 (15) and 343 (15); position seventeen through 379 (16), 364 (16), 134 (0), 366 (16) and 343 (15); position one through 379; 364 (17), 144 (0), 143 (0), 367 (17) and 343 (15). Relay 323 energized at 322 (15) and 369 (1) completes a circuit to bring 320 to its seventeen position. The relay 334 energized at 342 (17) and 340 (17), completes a blocking circuit for the left of 323. The combiner 320 finally goes to its one position.
The equipment controlling their recorder is now disconnected from the cord circuit and returned to normal state to answer a new call.
After the final selector brushes are connected to the desired terminals, the opening of 457 disables 452, since the basic circuit is open at the recorder mechanism, 450 moves to its six position through 445 (5), but 452 remains energized at through 449 (6). At the end 450 passes to its ten position through 451 (6). For position eight of 450, the called line is tried. If free, 464 energized at 449 (8) completes a low resistance circuit at 475 (9-10), reducing the potential of 467 and thus making the line busy. 462 also closes a circuit at 445 (10) to bring 450 to its twelve position. An inrush current from source 476 is then immediately applied to the called line.
The relay 452 is also connected to the switch 469 which as soon as it is closed energizes this relay, energizing, at 451, 450 which passes to its thirteen position. 452 is then connected to a second switch 472 which closed; energizes 452 to bring 450 to its fourteen position. 469 and 472 are arranged so that a desired time interval exists between the closing of the above circuits so that 450 passes from positions twelve to fourteen in a determined time. For position fourteen, source 476 is disconnected and inrush current is supplied from machine 474 through 477 (14) and 478 (14).
The calling subscriber is informed that the line is ringing by a sound produced in his receiver from coil 480 through 479 (14). When the callee answers, 460 gets excited and 450 passes through 451 (14) at position fifteen. The calling and called lines are connected at 477 and 478 with 262 and the bypass self-induction coil. By 262, 220 excited in 217 (11) goes to its twelve position.
When the caller hangs up his receiver, he neutralizes 231, which brings 220 through its twelve, thirteen and seventeen positions. The electromagnet 241 then excited at 223 (17), 245 (17) and 281 returns the carriage to its normal. A circuit is completed in 229 (17) and 269 for 232 which opens the circuit of 241 thus stopping the carriage. Finally 220 passes to its eighteen position through 217 (17), 245 (17) and 281.
The secondary researchers are arranged in pairs and when the two researchers of the same pair are free, only one is arranged to carry out the research. For this purpose, 220 of the researcher ready for research occupies position one, while 220 of the associate researcher occupies position eighteen. 220 passes from his eighteen positiuiis to one through 217 (18). Relay 262 is energized at 256 (18) and 270.
After the twelve position of 220, the circuit 4-13 is opened in 228, this circuit having been closed when the brush 252 of the dt, groups selector was in contact with the terminal 266. hii circuit passing through 444 then brings 450 into ' its seventeen position. If the called party replaces his receiver, 450 passes to its eighteen position through 445 (17), and the final selector brush carriage returns to its normal position under the action of 461 energized in 446 (8) . At this time, a circuit is closed at 457 and 454 (18), for 452 which opens the circuit of 461 thus stopping the carriage. A circuit is also closed at 451 (18) to bring 450 to its Lin position.
If the called line is busy for position eight of 450, relays 464 and 462 are not energized. 450 then occupies its ten position for which the switch 480 is connected to the primary of 447 by 479. The caller therefore receives a busy signal and hangs up his telephone. 231 neutralized; closes a circuit at 251 (11) for 224, which in turn closes at 24 (11) and 281, a circuit bringing 220 to its positions twelve, thirteen and seventeen. For the latter, the group selector is returned to idle as above.
No translation to the final selector is necessary in the considered cases, that is to say that the hundreds digit being even, the called line is placed in the first section of the terminals of this selector. As the selectors used have a capacity of 200 lines divided into two groups of 100, if the hundreds digit of the called line is even, the brushes travel through a number of terminals equal to this number; but if this figure is odd, a translation is necessary so that after having moved the brush by a number of terminals equal to this figure they are still displaced by ten additional positions in order to come in connection with the desired line in the second group in the selector row. In this case 120 provides for this translation.
For position three of 350 a circuit is closed in 375 (3), 126 (closed for all odd positions) and 369. The energized relays 374 and 373 are blocked at 145 and 369. The selection of hundreds and units is done as above, but during the selection of the units no circuit takes place for 350 for the zero position of 140. This recorder therefore runs an additional cycle, and the final selector brushes come to the desired terminals of the second section. Going from zero to one positions, the circuit 374 and 373 is broken at 145, and when 140 returns to its zero position, 350 goes from its nine to twelve positions.
Let now be the subscriber 240 of a satellite calling the subscriber 610 of an exchange whose number is for example 12453. The operation of the primary and secondary searchers, as well as the connection with the cord circuit of a free mechanism of the satellite takes place as before. When the mechanism is connected to the cord circuit of fig. 2 and the pulse circuit is established between the calling line and the mechanism stepping relay, an auditory signal is received. The caller sends nine pulses for the first digit, eight for the second, six for the third, five for the fourth and seven for the third, that is, the additions to the digits of the number.
As a result 100 passes to its nine position and then automatically to its zero position, 110, 120, 130 and 140 pass to their eight, six, five and seven positions. The requested line belongs to the first group of ten thousand. The number registered with the satellite equipment must be reproduced on the central mechanism. A transfer combiner 150 connects automatically to the satellite recorders, first restoring them to idle, therefore moving them by a number of positions equal to the real digits of the requested number, then transmits to the central office a number of im drives. equal to the complements of these numbers.
So when the central office registers come to rest by activating the selector, they operate according to the actual digits of the requested number. While the numbers of the satellite and central loggers are the same, i.e. five per office, and they all control a connection, one can foresee the case where a connection is made on an auxiliary line without using one of the loggers. of the satellite. This is achieved, as will be explained later by means automatically advancing the group selector of the satellite in connection with a trunk line running towards the exchange.
After the operation of the first three satellite recorders, 320 occupies its ten position, but 382 and 383 remain neutral, since 100 occupies its zero position and 120 its sixth position. This fact indicates that the requested line belongs to titi central. 350 excited at 352 (1), 103 (0) and 338 (10) goes to its position two, while 357 is excited at 379 (1 to 2) and 351. Contact 351 being open, 357 is neutralized, exciting 222 and 355 in 247 (5), 283 and 356 (2). 220 passes through 217 (5) at position six. Relay 359, energized at 354 and 152, is neutralized for position two of 350 as a result of energizing 355.
For the position sis of 220, the electromagnet 248 receives current and the chooser rotates. On the first short circuit of the fundamental circuit, 355 neutralized, closes a circuit in 379 (2), 367 (2), 354 (2) and 152.
Relay 357 opens the fundamental circuit; which neutralizes 222 as soon as 250 is opened as soon as the chooser approaches the first position of the brushes. 220 then moves to position seven through 251 (6). 350 being in parallel on the circuit of 357 (2), goes to its position three: The brush chooser of the group selector then searches on the first row of the junction lines, which row is supposed to contain the leagues heading towards the central. For position seven of 220, 241 is energized, the carriage rotates, and when a free line is found, 234 and 232 being energized, the carriage stops and 220 occupies its new position.
A circuit is then established in 526 (1), 542 (1), 247 (9), 283, 358 (3), 284, 255 (9) and 543 (1). The relays 531, 537 and 384 remain neutralized but the high resistance relay 525 is energized and closes a circuit in 529 (1) and 551 (1) for 5 0 which comes to occupy its position two.
From then on the selector combiner 580 comes into action through 544 (2), 527 (?) And 582 (closed for positions from one to ten), in order to associate a free control recording controller mechanism of the exchange with the cord circuit of the primary group selector shown in fig. 6. 580 under the control of evening local contact, turns, and for a free mechanism, closes titi circuit in 622 (1), 583 (2) and 582 (closed for its half-positions).
5? 8 excited, closes a low resistance circuit to its left, making the selected mechanism busy. 532 excited, closes in 529 (2), 527 (2) and 582 titi circuit for 520 which goes to position three. The closing of 542 and 543 completes the circuit known as the satellite recording mechanism through 625. Relays 625 and 384 are energized in series, and the excitation of 532 opens the above circuit, stopping 580. At this time, 528 and 532 are excited as well as 623, which brings 620 to its position three, since for its position two, 622 being open, 623 is neutralized.
For this position three, 626 excited in 627 (3), closes titi circuit in 630 (3) and 628 (3) for the ten thousand 700 recorder. A parallel circuit is formed for the left of 629 which thus remains neutralized . Between the zero and titi positions of 700, the straight line of 629 is shorted to 701, which energizes 629. Relay 637 is also energized at 701 to keep 639 in this condition until 700 has advanced one step. not whole. In position one, 700 waits for 625 to be neutralized.
The excitation of 384 closes a circuit in 370 (3), 154 (0) and 369 for 150, which under the control of 151 goes through a complete cycle *. For position ut), 384 est. shorted in 155. After the zero position, 359 which was energized in 152 (0), is neutralized. For, position one, a circuit is closed in 363 (3), 104 (0), 361 (3) and 156 (1), for 357. In parallel on this circuit, 362 is also excited, but the resistor 159 is such as in series with the right of 359, compared with the resistors in series of 362, 357 and the left of 359, it prevents the forrc- tiunnenrent of 359.
Relay 357 opens the pulse circuit of 625 which, neutralized, opens the left circuit of 629 which is neutralized. The excitation of 362 closes a circuit of low resistance for the right of 359 in 153, and therefore the left of this release provokes evening excitement. . The relays 362 and 357 are neutralized, and the still closed pulse circuit actuates 625. The recorder 700 then advances to position two. When 150 greed 156 at its neighboring position, 357 and 362 are energized, and the pulse circuit is opened a second time 357 neutralizing 625. This maneuver continues, 700 advancing one step for each closing of 156 until until ten interruptions of the pulse circuit have occurred.
The last interrupt is for positions fourteen of 150. During this time, 153 is open in position thirteen, and excitation of 359 is inhibited. 357 therefore remains excited and 625 neutralized long enough to close a circuit for 634. This only operates during the long interruption of the series to close a circuit for the left of 623 which in turn closes the circuit bringing 620 in its five position.
The recorder 700 has therefore been moved to the zero position corresponding to the satellite's position of 100, and 625 is ready to control the movement of the thousand recorder 710. The combiner 150 moving from its thirteen to seventeen positions keeps 156 closed, preventing the neutralization of 359 and the excitation of 357. For position fourteen, 150 closes contact 157 (14) and 350 goes to position four. For the zero position, after the first cycle of 150, this combiner is energized again at 370 (4) and begins a second cycle. For position five of 620, and for closing during its first revolution, 625 being energized, closes a circuit in 706 (0) and 628 (5) for 710 which moves to its firing position).
When 150 leaves its zero position at the start of its second revolution; 359 is neutralized and a circuit is closed in 112 (8), 361 (4), 354 and 156 (1). Recorder 110 is first brought back to normal, and then 150 transmits the displacement from 110 to 710. Recorder 110 leaves position eight, bypassing left from 359 to 115, which drives 359. The neutralization of 362 for the new position of 110 and the opening of 156, produces the neutralization of 359. The contact 156 for its second closed position, brings 110 to its zero position. In the next closed position of 156, 367 is energized at 363 (4), 114 (0), 361 (4) and 156. Relay 362 is energized in parallel.
The first interrupt of the pulse circuit occurs, neutralizing 625. 362 energized, closes a low resistance circuit to the right of 359, and 362 and 357 are neutralized closing the interference circuit. 625 moves 710 a new step. 710 moves forward one step for each closure of 156, eventually occupying position eight, complementing the second digit of the called number. The last interrupt of the pulse circuit being long 634 is energized and 620 occupies its eight position.
150 in position fourteen closes a second time at 157 the circuit of 350 which passes to, its position five for which 150 in position zero is still energized to go through a new cycle. 120 which occupies position six returns to normal under the control of 150 through 122, 366 (5) and 156. If 120 occupies a position for which 136 is closed, this recorder does not advance to an additional position since 383 is neutralized. It follows that the translation to the satellite hundreds recorder does not take place and the central hundreds recorder is brought to a position corresponding exactly to that of 120 and advances under the control of the calling subscriber. .
For position eight of 620, a circuit is established at 706 (0) and 635 (8) for the hundreds register 720 which moves to position one. For the zero position of 120, 357 is energized at 364 (5), 124 (0), 366 (5) and 156. In parallel, 362 is also energized, and it follows that the pulse circuit is open. , neutra reading 625 and 629. For the next closing of this circuit, 625 is energized and 720 goes to position two. This maneuver continues and 720 advances by one step for each closing of 156, coming to occupy its position six corresponding to that of 120.
For the last interrupt of the pulse circuit, 634 is energized and 620 moves to its ten position. 150 completes its third rotation, 625 is energized and a circuit is closed at 706 and 635 for the tens recorder 730 which goes to its one position. For position fourteen of 150, 350 occupies its zero position where it waits for the sending of the tens and units pulses from the calling station. Assuming that the tens and ones registers have been moved and 320 occupies its fourteen position, 350 excited cry 352 (6) and 31.1 (14) go to its seven position, closing a cry circuit 370 for 150 which begins its fourth rotation.
The satellite tens recorder returns to normal through 132, 366 (7) and 156. For the zero position of 130, 156 is closed and 357 is energized through 364 (7), 131 (0), 366 (7) and 156. In parallel 362 is also excited. 357 neutralizes 625 and 629, while 362 neutralizes 357. 625 is excited and 730 advances one position. This continues until its position five corresponding to that of 130. 620 moves to its position. twelve to link 625 with the recorder of units 740 through 706 (0) and 636 (12). Recorder 740 moves to position one where it waits for the first interrupt of the final series pulse circuit. For position fourteen of 150, 350 moves to position nine through 157.
150 reaches its zero position and begins its final cycle to bring 140 back to rest and move 740. 140 is first energized in 142, 367 (9) and 156, then under the control of 150 in the zero position. 357 is energized in 364 (9), 144 (0), 143 (0), 367 (9) and 156. Relay 362 is energized in parallel on 357. Pulse circuit is or green , 625 and 629 are neutralized. The next closing of the pulse circuit advances 740 a further step, and continues to position seven of 740. For the last interrupt of the circuit, 625 remains neutral, 634 is energized, 620 and 150 move to their fourteen position and 350 to their twelve position.
The central unit's recording mechanism is ready to control the operation of the selectors. For position fourteen of 620; 650 moves to position three through 669 (1) and 641 (14). The fundamental circuit is closed in 547 (3), 661 (3) and 657 (3). 655 and 522 are energized, bringing 520 to position four through 533 (3).
The brush chooser 548 energized at 549 (4) rotates, and for each position of the brushes, 655 is. short-circuited. The first time Lu) circuit is. closed in 712 (8), 674 (3) and 658 for 710 which passes to its new position then to its zero position as the chooser passes to its neighboring position. A circuit is then closed in 675 (3), 703 (0), 716 (0), 666 (3), 674 (3) and 658. The relay 656 energized, opens the fundamental circuit preventing any further advance of 710.
In parallel on the previous circuit 650 goes to its position four. As soon as 550 opens for the zero position of 710, relay 522 is neutralized and 520 goes to position five through 551 (4). For position six of 520, the electromagnet 541. is energized at 544 (5). Relay 522 is energized as soon as 520 occupies position five through 523 (5 to 7), and 640. The carriage rotates to find a free trunk line to a next free selector, and when this is found a circuit is closed at 563, 527 (5) and 582. Relay 528 is energized to form a low resistance circuit across its left and 532 which opens the motor circuit and closes at 529 (5) a circuit for 520 which passes to its posi tion seven.
The fundamental circuit is then extended at 547 and 555 to the secondary group selector 571. The fundamental circuit at the coin-logger controller takes 65? (6) and 601 (6). Combiner 650 moved from positions four to six through to 675 (4) and 643 (14). The operation of the selector of the secondary selector 571 takes place under the control of 720, which energized at 722, 671 (6) and 658, reaches its zero position. A circuit is then closed at 675 (6), 703, 716, 666 (6), 674 (6), 723, 671 (6) and 658, for 656 which opens the fundamental circuit. A parallel circuit is closed for 650 which goes to its nine then ten positions through 669 (9) and 641 (14).
The basic circuit is now extended to a free final selector 572.
The tens selection is made at the final selector under the control of 730 excited in 732., 670 (10) and 658. For the zero position of 730, 656 excited in 669, 733, 670 (10) and 658, open the fundamental circuit. 650 moves as before from ten to twelve, where a circuit is closed at 742, 670 (12) and 658 for the unit recorder 740, which returns to idle. The brushes of the final selector are then on the terminals of the line called 610. The relay 656 and the combiner 650 in parallel, are energized at 669, 744 (0), 743 (0), 670 (12) and 658. 650 passes at its fifteen position.
The central and satellite recording mechanism can now be brought back to rest. For position thirteen of 650, a circuit is closed at 665 (13) and 668. Relay 639 energized, opens circuit of 522 to the group selector. This relay brings in 551 (7), 520 in its twelve position or conversation position. With the recording mechanism disconnected from the cord circuit at 542 and 543, relays 625 and 384 are deactivated. 339 excited in 376 (12), 154 (0) and 369 opens the circuit of 222. This one closes in 251 (9) in circuit for 220 which passes to its position ten, then to its position eleven through towards 258 ( 10). The set of satellite recorders released at 236 and 239 returns to the normal position as before.
231 and 237 being excited, a circuit is closed in 250 (11) and 543 (12) by 531, which forms a circuit in 355 (12) and 556 (12) for 562. The latter in turn closes a circuit in 542 (12) and 256 (11) for 262 which brings through 517, 220 into its twelve position or talk position.
When 625 is neutralized, upon a break between the controller-logger mechanism and the cord circuit, 620 moves to its fifteen position through 684 (14). The combiner 650 is then energized at 675 (15), 103, 7 1 6, 666, 674 (15), 723, 671 (15) and 664 (15); and advances to its sixteenth position where it is excited at 669, 773, 670 (16) and 643, moving to its seventeen position. Finally it returns to its rest position in 659, 744, 743, 670 (17) and 644. For position one of 650, 623 is excited at 622 (15) and 668, which brings 620 to its seventeen position. . Relay 634 is then energized at 642 and 640, which causes energization of 623 bringing 620 to position one.
After the conversation, the caller hangs up his receiver and the satel lite devices go back to idle as before. At the central, 531 and 537 are neutralized as soon as 252 and 256 leave their twelve position. 531 closes a circuit in 558 (12) for 524, which in turn closes a circuit in 527 (12) and 582 for 520, which passes to its seventeen position bringing the chain back to normal through 544 (17 ), 527 (17) and 582. For the rest position 569 closes a circuit in 556 for 532, which opens the circuit _ of the electro-motor and closes the circuit comprising 529 (17), 527 (17) and 582, to bring 520 to its one position. The following selectors 571 and 572 return to idle in the ordinary manner.
