Au dessin annexé, donnéà titre -dexemple: La fig. 1 est une coupe longitudinale sui vant la ligne X-X (fi-. 2) d'une forme d'exécution du réchauffeur d'eau d'alimenta tion suivant l'invention, destinée par exem pleà une locomotive; La figo. -9 en est une vue -en plan corres pondante; La fig. 3 en est une -coupe transversale suivant la ligne Y-Y (fig. 2), La fig. 4 en est une seconde coupe trans versale -suivant la ligne Z-Z (fig. 2);
La fig. à montre schématiquement cette forme d'exécution munie d'un dis-positif de mise encommunication rapide du réchauf feur avec l'atmosphère- lorsqu'une poche de vapeur s'est formée brusquement, alors que le niveau avait baissé clans le tender de la loco motive; La fig. 6 -est une coupe verticale axiale suivant la ligne T-T (fig. 7), d#un régula teur de température -combiné avec le réchauf feur;
Le réchauffeur d'eau d'alimentation re présenté aux fig. 1 à 4 comporte une caisse rectangulaire1 en tôle, dont les dimensions varient suivant l'emplacement disponible, puis une plaque percée avant 2, boulonnée sur la,cornière 8 de la caisse1 avec interposition d'un joint 4, ensuite une plaque percée ar rière5, puis un faisceau de tubes6, disposés horizontalement, sertis dans les trous des deux plaques 2 et5, en outre unes boîte de vapeur avant7 cloisonnéeà l'intérieur et boulonnée sur la plaque avant 2, avec inter- po#s;
!tion d'un joint8, et enfin une boîte de vapeur arrière9 cloisonnéeà l'intérieur et boulonnée sur la plaque arrière5 avec inter position d'un joint10.
En effet: a) La caisse1 du réchauffeur constitue un véritable bassin de décantation où l'eau circuleà une faible vitesse; par suite de. la prise d'eau de la pompe, qui se fait en23 à la, partie supérieure du réchauffeur, Pentraîne- ment des bolles dans la. chaudière est totale ment évité; b) La, pression dans le réchauffeur nedé- passant pas300 grammes et la température de l'eau étant d'environ100 '# les tartres formés ne se durcissent pas;
c) L'acide carbonique formé dansle, ré- chauff eur est évacuéà l'air libre par la tubu lure13, comme il a été ditet ne pénètre donc pas dans'la chaudière;
Feed water heater for locomotive boilers and others. The object of the present invention is a feed water heater for locomotive lights and others, in which the water to to be heated bathes a horizontal bundle of reheating steam tubes, this heater having the peculiarity that a box containing the water to to be reheated is in constant communication with the atmosphere, the steam used for reheating being able to be either part of the steam from machine exhaust or residual vapors.
In the appended drawing, given to as an example: FIG. 1 is a longitudinal section along line XX (fi-. 2) of an embodiment of the feed water heater according to the invention, intended for example to a locomotive; The figo. -9 is a corresponding plan view; Fig. 3 is a cross-section along the line Y-Y (fig. 2), fig. 4 is a second cross section following the line Z-Z (fig. 2);
Fig. to shows schematically this embodiment provided with a device for rapidly putting the heater into communication with the atmosphere - when a vapor pocket s' is formed suddenly, when the level had dropped in the tender of the loco motive; Fig. 6 -is an axial vertical section along line T-T (fig. 7), of a temperature regulator -combined with the heater;
Fig. 7 with ballast a corresponding horizontal section following line V-V (fig. 6); Fig. 8 is a cross section of a variant of a heater provided with a movable side wall; Fig. 9 is a half cross-section of a variant of a heater with a movable top wall.
The feed water heater shown in fig. 1 to 4 comprises a rectangular box 1 in sheet metal, the dimensions of which vary according to the available location, then a front drilled plate 2, bolted to the, angle 8 of the body 1 with the interposition of a gasket 4, then a perforated rear plate 5, then a bundle of tubes 6, < / B> arranged horizontally, crimped in the holes of the two plates 2 and 5, in addition a front steam box 7 partitioned to the inside and bolted to the front plate 2, with inter- po # s;
! tion of a joint 8, and finally a rear vapor box 9 partitioned to the inside and bolted to the back plate 5 with interposition of a joint 10.
The rear plate 5 of the f tubular blade 6 is mounted freely -in the body 1 of the driver and, consequently, the expansion of the tubes 6 is free ,.
A tube 13 (fig. 2 and 4) provided at the top of the heater body 1 puts it in constant communication with the open air, in order to evacuate - not only the air which could delay the filling of the box (#, but also the carbonic acid mixed with the air given off by the water when it is heated, which has the effect of very significantly reducing the corrosion sheets of the boiler.
This 13 tubing can be fitted with a device for rapid communication with. the atmosphere when a vapor pocket suddenly forms while the level a b-a, iss6 in the abajelle # of feed water. This device, shown in FIG. 5, has a pipe- 33 of the large section surrounding the extended pipe 13 for exhaust air and steam mounted on the heater 34. The extended tubing 13 is itself pierced with holes 37 over part of the length.
If we assume the water level in the supply tank 35, the loco tender motivates for example, in AB, the water level - in parts 13 and, 33 will be established, on the same horizontal plane in CD.
If we - now assume that the. temperature has risen in the heater and exceeds 100 ' and a pocket of vapor has formed at the upper part of the heater between planes ab and cd , the vapor pressure of this pocket tends to push the skin back into the supply tank and to raise the water column h < / B> in the pro long tubing 13.
If the extended tubing 13 were not pierced, the water in the la, supply tank could not return to the heater until the pressure in the vapor pocket had acquired a sufficient value to refill the water plug there. up to the level above Nivea-Li GII, which may take quite a long time. Thanks to the holes â7 drilled in the extended tubing 13, the water plug li flows into the pipe 33.
The heater is thus constantly put back into communication with the atmosphere and the pressure balance constantly maintained in the heater.
The water contained in the anuular space between the two parts 13 and 33 flows through the tubing 1.3 in the heater and the level common between the skin of the supply cover 35, the heater 34 and the outlet parts 13 and 33 is reestablished on the plane AB-CD.
Between the lower part of the tube bundle 6 and the bottom 14 of the body 1, is provided a free space 15 intended for Check the deposits between two consecutive washings of the heater. These deposits, located in an inert part of the heater, do not interfere with reheating in any way and are evacuated at the time (read washing through a large cleaning sight glass 1.6.
This manhole comprises a Tegitrd plate fixed by blind nuts 17 to a corresponding flange 16a of the bottom 14 of the body 1 as shown, with the interposition of 'a gax1liture, 16b resistant, to hot water to 100', but it could, also include a pocket to tartar held by a caliper.
The viewing plate carries a to valve 1.8 which serves to the drain- of the rechw.if- feur -and avoids all disadvantages in case of frost.
Wash plugs 19 for the introduction of the cleaning lance are placed on a side wall of box 1, so that the wash jet can find a free passage between the tubes 6 - and spray the entire surface of the tube bundle.
When the installation is suitable, bou clions de la-vage analogous can also be placed on the upper wall of the heater casing.
These javage buckles are of the type indicated in the drawing; they consist of a shutter plate combined with a plywood 21 and a rod centering it at nut 20.
Their operation is very simple and. extremely fast; just loosen the nut -90 -and remove the plywood 9.1; the plug opens inwards. The dimensions and the f elms of these buckles have been calculated and studied in such a way that they can unmask the orifice without being able to fall, remaining constantly retained by the titibular f aisceau 6.
The arrival of the reheating steam is foreseen in Il at the upper part of the front steam box bed 7. This steam enters the upper part of the tube bundle. area above (the key partitioning of the front steam box 7 to get to the upper part of the rear steam box 9. The steam then borrows the middle part of the tube bundle which is located above said partitioning of the rear steam box 9 to get to the lower part of the front steam box 7 -and,
via the lower part of the tube bundle where it completes its condensation, it goes to the lower part of the rear steam box 9.
The lower part of the rear steam box 9 is., Provided with a plirge 12 for the evacuation of the condensed water. This purge consists of a tube 12a -solidà # ire'de the steam box 9 and passing through the corresponding wall of the body by a flange 12b a - # - ec a seal 1213 for hot water at 100 'held in place by means of a seal press 12d.
Thanks to the partitions of the steam boxes 7 and 9, the reheating steam carries out multiple circuits to inside the water to </ B> heat up -and condenses progressively up to condensation- tota; l # e., Finding itself constantly guided by the tubular bundle and the evacuation of 1% to the condensation being done freely, the steam retains all its speed, -which has the effect of a better use of the calories it contains.
In addition, the steam circulates inside the water to, to heat, so that - the latter thus fully absorbs all the calories released by the steam. by condensing.
The cold water inlet to the recliner is made at the lower part of the body at 221 near the place where the condensation water is discharged at 12 of the tube bundle 6, which has the effect of creating a suction at the end of the circuit through which the reheating steam passes and thus increasing the speed of circulation of the latter.
The hot water is taken at 23 at the upper part of the reheater water and near the reheating steam inlet at 11.
The paths of water and steam are therefore, in a way, reversed from one another, which favors heat escapes.
The described heater is capable of bringing in three or four minutes to a temperature of 90 'to 98' -centigrade a quantity greater than of more than 10 'A of the maximum quantity of, ea, u that the boiler can vaporize at the same time and only employing to this effect a very low - quautft6 & the steam used for reheating, this quantity being variable and remaining in any case less than the '/ r, of the total exhaust when the steam is used for reheating. exhaust of the machine.
This very rapid increase in the temperature of the supply water leads to vigorous descaling. This descaling, as well as the evacuation. preliminary air and carbonic acid from the feed water,
have the effect of reducing in very large proportions the incrustations and corrosion of the boiler and improving its efficiency. All the arrangements described above make it possible to obtain this de-taxing, considerable and this evacuation of carbonic acid and Air, previously to the introduction of water into the boiler and-, consequently, a considerable saving of the latter, while maintaining the coefficient of thermal activity of the heater intact.
In fact: a) The 1 heater box constitutes a real settling basin where the water circulates at a low speed; as a result of. the water intake of the pump, which is made at 23 at the, upper part of the heater, entrainment of the bolls in the. boiler is completely avoided; b) The pressure in the heater does not drop 300 grams and the water temperature is about 100 '# the tartars formed do not harden;
c) The carbonic acid formed in the, heater is discharged to the open air through the tubing 13, as it has been said and therefore does not enter the boiler;
(1) The successive expansions and contractions of the tube bundle detach the particles of tartar deposited without adhesion to e-, behind the tubes 6 </ B > au on the walls of the #caisse 1. The beam being horizontal these particles not being guided, slide or fall on the bottom 14 of the 1 provided to receive them, so that the toeffective thermal activity of the heater remains constantly maintained.
The deposits are easily expelled by opening the cleaning manhole 16 and complete cleaning of the beam 6 and the walls of the body 1 </ B> is carried out as follows by a spray 'watering directed through the openings of the cleaning plugs 19.
As regards the admission of the vapor to the heater, it is carried out by means of a temperature regulator indicated in 36 to in fig. 5, which automatically regulates the quantity of reheating steam, to admitted into the tube bundle of the heater, in proportion to the volume of the water to reheat in a given time and in such a way that the, the temperature of this water does not exceed 100 '.
This regulator is shown in detail in Figs. 6 and 7 and comprises an annular distributor slide 24 secured to a motor piston 25, this set of parts being movable in a vertical lantern < B> 26. The motor piston 25 receives on its upper face 27 the pressure of the reheating steam in the steam supply pipe 28 to the heater . Its underside 29 is at the atmospheric pressure through the opening 30 and is subjected to the action, & </ B> bottom up, with a spring, 31 balancing the weight of parts 24, 25.
As soon as the temperature approaches -le 10.0 ' in the heater, the pressure increases in the reheating steam supply pipe 28. This overpressure on the bed upper face 27 of the motor piston 25 eliminates the effect of the spring 31 and lowers the distributor spool 24 which closes the ori fices < B> 32 passage of steam (the heater is agging.
When the, temperature drops in the heater and, as a result, the temperature decreases in the pipe 28, the spring 31 lifts the parts 24, 25 Pt allows greater intake (the steam to the heater.
The operation of the whole of the re-ellauffeur described is as follows.
The water flows by gravity from the locomotive tender into the heater where it envelops the tube bundle. 6. The vapor condensation produced in the bundle determines a demand for the steam used for re-heating. heater. The preheating vapor called up is diverted into the heater by means of a suitable capture and direction damper placed in the exhaust pipe of the vapors used for this purpose. This fear is allowed, in the bundle of tubes 6 to through the temperature regulator decrif.
The continuous arrival of cold water in the vicinity of the drain of water which has condensed in the tube bundle maintains the tension of the vapor in the bundle at- below (the value it has cl-in the exhaust pipe and, consequently, produces a suction of this vapor towards the heater where the regulator admits it in variable quantity according to the volume of water < B> to reheat in the given time, volume which varies according to the flow rate for which the mechanic has set; Ja food pump at, hot water, by therefore, depending on the needs of the machine.
Contrary to known heating systems, it is only after having been reheated that the water is returned to the chamber by the pump which the mechanic has. start as soon as the temperature in the heater % reaches 85 ' and it will not attract to stop during the time of the machine operation, nor to modify the al- hire if it has been correctly adjusted for the flow rate corresponding to the work it has to perform.
Apart from the washing plugs, which we spoke about above, the upper and lower walls of the heater box can be arranged so to be able to be removed, f # n deco-Delivering the, corresponding face of the tube bundle.
These removable walls can be easily and quickly removed without having to dismantle the heater. Variants (the heater thus established with removable side or top walls are shown in fig. 8 and 9. In both cases, the removable walls forming washing or cleaning doors consist of a 38 fix (,
.e on the body of the heater box by a number of quickly removable 39 pivoting bolts, this sheet plate fitting by an angled edge in a groove 40 fitted with a seal 41.
Fig. 8 shows that, in the case of a lateral movable wall, the tubes 6 of the bundle are arranged in horizontal rows in such a way that it is possible to pass a squeegee between the horizontal rows of tubing for cleaning.
Fig. 9 shows that, in the case of an upper movable wall, the tubes 6 are arranged in vertical rows in such a way that it is possible to pass a squeegee between the vertical rows of tubes.
