Description

Arc radio-signaling device. The present invention relates e, to devices ide radiosignailisation by arc in which the terminals ide the a-re are respectively connected, on the one hand, the antenna and the earth and, -d ' on the other hand, an auxiliary circuit comprising a seM and a capacitance in series, Its object is a.

key device of this type, characterized by the, causes that the manipulator with the aid of which the signals are produced, is inserted directly into the antenna so that during the The interval separating the signals from any current in the antenna is suppressed, which avoids the drawback of the so-called compensation wave, a drawback that is generally encountered in the radio signaling devices in question.

This: device -is also characterized by the fact that, during the interval between the signals, in normal handling regime, the arc, remained on on the auxiliary circuit, absorbs a very low energy compared to to the one used when sending signals.

The manipulation in arc radiosignalling devices is done at at present, - almost generally, with the aid of the device, whose diagram is shown to as an example, in fig. 1 of the attached drawing and which consists of an assembly intended to produce more or less large variations of the emission wavelength by a variation of the choke antenna.

This device has the key drawback of necessarily comprising a so-called "compensation" wave which is that emitted by the holding during the interval separating the signals. Indeed, when the manipulator M is raised, the antenna A emits a -certain wavelength, determined by the value of the self S fully inserted in said antenna, while, the manipulator being lowered, that is, bypassing a certain portion of the choke 8, the antenna A emits a length -different One any of these waves known for the emission of signals ,

while the other, therefore, corresponds to the intervals separating the signals; it is this last which is called under the wave name of, compensation ".

To remedy this drawback, various sy, Qf, p.mes have been recommended; the best known is the system, Baclç shunt "which consists in replacing for the antenna, with using a special manipulator , an equivalent circuit having - inductor, resistance and capacitance.

Other methods deriving more or less from it have been proposed and tried.

Besides the disadvantage that they do not improve the general performance of the arc, the- which arc consumed at approximately the Even, energy during the signals as in the signal gap, all of these systems require bulky and expensive equipment; they are finely tuned and unstable and do not always give signals as clear as ordinary wave compensation handling.

The subject of the present invention is precisely a novel handling device which obviates all these drawbacks.

It allows to completely suppress any current in the antenna between the signals; it gives perfectly nel signals; it improves the efficiency of the arc, in continuous line and the general efficiency (the arc in manipulation; the power consumed between two signals being very small and being able to go down to '/, of the One embodiment of the object of the invention is shown, to by way of example, in Fig. 2 ..

In the diagrams fig. 1 and fig. 2, the letters have the following designation: G direct current generator n c protection capacitors, L, C, L2 C_, oscillating circuits forming plugs, tuned to the oscillating circuit consisting of L C and the electrodes N, < / B> A1 #, N, anode, 1NT # #cathode, A, A. protection choke coils, Pl, rheostat, 8, 8, blowing coils supplied by a direct current source, which can be,

, -; or the o-enerator G, or any other independent source, 01 manipulator, S self -antenna, A antenna. The capacitors c, the caps L ,. C, L. C2, the chokes -A, A, can be deleted mes </ I> if the generator is established to withstand the high frequency overvoltages produced by the operation of the arc.

Resistance R can optionally be reduced to zero.

The capacitance C has a value # which is of the order of magnitude of that of the antenna, and. preferably, between 0 and 2 fc # îs this value, according to the power of Faro and the -electrical characteristics of the antenna.

The #circuit N, N2 C L has a preferably short wavelength; one can take, for example, a harmonic of the wave emitted by the antenna.

The intensity, of the current- &, s blower coils is preferably fixed and set to a constant value, independent of the in-LensiM of the supply current of the a re. The blowing field can, however, be given a value varying slightly with this intensity to by means of a device activated by the manipulator M in order to improve the operation of the device. arc between, signals, The operation of the device is as follows:

With the antenna switched off and the atomizer M turned on, damped oscillations occur in the N, N, < I> L C, when the arc is ignited. We set L and C -so that the arc burns with it. a maximum dissipation between N, and N ,,, for the supply voltage used and the field (normal blowing, that is, ie the corresponding field, at, the emission wavelength and at the power, of this emission.

The electrodes are then slightly brought together and Parc is ready for transmission. By pressing the manipulator, the antenna is connected to, the arc; there is there emission of continuous waves, as -in the ordinary assembly. When you stop pressing on the manipulator, the oscillations spontaneously disappear in the antenna and the arc continues to burn on the auxiliary circuit L C. The The settings indicated above allow the arc ignited on the auxiliary circuit to be maintained indefinitely, the antenna being activated.

One can have interest, in particular for the great powers, to to work with a r1 '# ,, Iage different from the length-of arc, from the tension. power supply etc., while transmitting on the antenna in order to improve efficiency and increase the power put into play.

Under these superior performance conditions, the arc is extinguished if the antenna is left open for more than a few seconds.

To avoid this extinction, the various elements of the installation can be brought back to the value which allows the arc ignited to be maintained indefinitely in the the circuit-of rest L C.

A this effect, it suffices for the manipulator to be able to act by means of delayed action relays, either on the length of the arc, or on the voltage of food.

The manipu lator can also be made to act, by means of delayed action switch relays , to modify the values of L or C or both at at a time, so that the arc stays on indefinitely, even at -consume a little more energy- ie during a period of rest a little -Ion- ford. In normal handling mode, the various deferred attion to relays do not act between the signals and the signal is thus produced while consuming the minimum of energy between the signals.

Thanks to the new handling device described above, it is therefore possible to reduce to a very low value the energy necessary for the maintenance of the arc between the signals, and, consequently , one obtains a considerable improvement of the bulge of the arc, this efficiency being expressed by the ratio of the power in the antenna, during the signal, to the power, this average absorbed by arc during manipulation.

The use of this device further results in an improvement in the purity and sharpness of the signals. It makes it possible to increase the number of radiotelegraph stations working simultaneously between two wavelength limits and gives greater ease for the reading or recording of signals at reception. , In an existing installation, this same device thus makes it possible, with the machines and apparatus in service, to increase the power of the signals, while in the establishment of a new station it allows to reduce the importance of power supply machines for the same power required in the antenna.
