Polishing machine. The object of the present invention is a polishing machine, characterized in that it comprises, for the supply and withdrawal of the working parts, in and out of the field of action of the grinding wheel, a revolver on the spindles. from which the parts fit. The revolver in question will preferably be mounted on a plate on which it can oscillate. In addition, in order to allow the adaptation of the revolver in question to just about all the orvrages meeting in metallurgy, it will be mounted on a cradle allowing the inclination of its pins relative to the plane of said plate.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, an embodiment of the polishing machine according to the invention.
Fig. 1 the watch in plan; fig. 2 is a partial section along the line II-II of FIG. 1; fig. 3 is a sectional view thereof, also partial, along line III-III of FIG. 1; fig. 4 is a side view along the line IV-IV of FIG. 1.
The machine foot is designated by a. On this is mounted a plate b which can be adjusted and maintained in different positions relative to the foot by means of bolts b1 sliding in a circular groove b2, the center of which is at b3. b4 designates a cradle in which slides and can be fixed in various positions relatively to the horizontal a support c supporting two bearings c1 and c2 in which the shaft d1 of the revolver d turns.
The pins of this revolver are four in number. They are designated by d2. On one of their ends is provided a man drin, not shown, the shape of which varies from case to case and allowing the fixing of the workpiece on the spindle. At the end opposite to that where the chuck is located, a pinion d3 is wedged which has the task of moving the spindle on which it is keyed.
On the shaft d1 of the revolver is pinned a Maltese cross d4 which periodically engages axec a solidary drive of the stop cam d6 for the Maltese cross. These two parts are driven by means of a hollow shaft by a helical graining el, the screw of which is driven by a pulley e2. Inside this hollow shaft rotates the axis f on one end of which is wedged a grooved pulley f1 while, on the other, is fixed a toothed pinion f2, in engagement with another member of the same kind f3 which turns crazy on a sleeve p of the bearing of the shaft d1. The periphery of this sleeve is not concentric with its drilling. It is offset laterally (see fig. 3). Pinion f3 is integral with pinion f4.
The eccentricity of the sleeve is sufficient so that, when the revolver rotates, the pinions fixed to each of its pins engage in turn with the pinion f4. In fig. 3, the right pinion is driven.
The machine also comprises various supports g1, g2, at the end of which turn grooved pulleys which serve as a reference for a rope passing successively over pulleys e2 and f1.
The grinding wheel h is mounted as usual on two bearings between which a pulley h1 is keyed for driving the tool.
The parts to be polished fit successively on ad-hoc mandrels and this when these occupy the places which are marked by p1 and p2 in fig. 1. It should be noted that then the spindles corresponding to these mandrels do not turn and that it is easy for the worker to carry out all the operations necessary for the installation, respectively for the removal of the part. work, in complete safety. By the action of the driver d5, the Maltese cross is turned a quarter turn to bring another spindle into engagement with the pinion f4 and remove the finished part from the field of action of the grinding wheel.
When dealing with parts which must be polished on their mantle, the revolver is rotated with the plate around the center b3 and / or fixed in the required position so that the surface to be treated is parallel to the periphery of the grinding wheel.
In certain cases, for certain objects, it will still be necessary to incline the axis of the spindles with respect to the plane of the foot of the machine. It is then that use will be made of the properties of the cradle b4 which allows an adjustment of the revolver around the axis of oscillation b0 of the cradle.
