Description

Elektrische Kochplatte.

Electric hotplate. The previously known electric hot plates work uneconomically and heat up slowly. Their heating surface can neither be enlarged nor reduced, so that when smaller vessels are heated from the uncovered surface, the heat is radiated unused. The heating plate of this stove heats up evenly on both sides and the heat radiated below is lost. In addition, a stove is required. if it is made with a heating wire made of semi-precious metals, because of the small heating surface, it takes a comparatively long time to become correspondingly hot. Stoves with resistance mass also heat up very slowly.

The invention now relates to an electric hotplate -which should be satisfactory in every respect. An embodiment example of the same is shown in the accompanying drawings, namely Fig. 1 is a side view of the hotplate, and Fig. 2 is a view of the same from above, while Fig. D and 4 a longitudinal and cross-section through part of the hotplate in larger Represent the standard. The drawn electric hotplate be sitting some, for example five, radiators T to T, (Fig. 1 and 2), between which parallel columns D are present.

The radiators T1, T2, etc. are switched on one behind the other in an electrical circuit so that a certain number of them can be switched off, for example the bodies T4 and T "for which the auxiliary terminals S, S2 (FIG. 2) are used.

The current supply and discharge. Takes place at the terminals S ',, So. If the current is switched from the terminal So to the auxiliary terminal S, which can be done by means of a switch, not shown, the radiator T is switched off. If it is switched in a similar way from terminal So to auxiliary terminal S., then heating element T4 is also switched off. As a result, the voltage that is consumed by all of these when all the radiators are switched on is consumed in a smaller number of radiators, so that they heat up all the more.

With this device you can reduce the heating surface by the excessive amount (for example by '; 1, or \ /,), which would cause a large loss in the case of small vessels that do not cover the radiators.

Under the radiator T ,, T2. . . Cylindrical mirrors Z (Fig. 1) are attached so that their focal points fall into columns I), in which the downwardly radiated and reflected heat is concentrated, whereby this heat is for the most part returned to the heating surface.

Each of the radiators Z ',. T .. . . consists of two sheet metal jackets p ,, p2, each with a U-shaped profile, which fit tightly into one another. Inside the radiator a charred wood core d is arranged, which is wrapped in a screw-shaped manner by a heating wire e, for example made of iron, the ends of which pass through a fireproof, electrically insulating pack f to the outside, which the charred wood core with the Seals heating wire in the radiator.

A pale 31 is pressed between the winches of the wire e. The insulation of the wire against the sheaths p ,, p. is carried out in the way.

that the space between the wire e and the sheaths p ,, p @ is filled with an electrically insulating clay k, except for one, but as small as possible, for example about. 1 mm high space v on the upper heating surface, which remains filled with air, which has a better thermal conductivity than, for example, kaolin, so that the heat is transmitted to the heating surface more quickly.

The mass M is composed, for example, of carbon, smoothness and kaolin. -which constituents are made into a plastic mass by means of sulfuric acid. Such a mass, pressed between the turns, quickly becomes hard. The mixing ratio of the components of the mass can be different, depending on the desired conductivity. The conductivity of the mass is expediently chosen so that it has a third of the conductivity in the warm state in the cold state, for the following reason: The cold iron wire can conduct three to four times as much electrical current as in the heated state, depending on the the degree of warming.

With a certain length and thickness of the wire in relation to the strength of the current flowing through it, heating up to red or Reach white heat. So that the iron wire and the mass do not oxidize, that is, they are not burned, they are arranged around the wood core d, which is subsequently charred by the heat that occurs. The glowing iron of the wire is then constantly reduced by the carbon produced and the oxygen is used to form carbonic acid, so that the burning of both bodies is prevented as long as the supply of carbon is sufficient.

The carbon lasts a very long time, because on the one hand there is very little oxygen, but on the other hand it is burned to carbonic acid and is only replaced very slowly.

There. the specific resistance of iron is relatively low, the iron wire must be very long with a certain cross-section. This results in a large heating surface, which is increased by the surface of the mass, so that the hotplate is heated to the highest level in a very short time, at most in one and a half minutes.

Furthermore, since the resistance of the iron in the cold state is very low, one must first switch on the largest possible number of radiators T ,, T2 ... when putting the hotplate into operation and after they have warmed up If necessary then switch off quite a few.
