Description

I>130'</I> C</B> gehalten.

Working method for the representation of ethers of carbohydrates. When preparing ethers of the carbohydrates of the nChioozi type, such as cellulose, starch, dexrin and the like, as well as their conversion products or derivatives, it is known to first treat these carbohydrates with alkali and then to treat the thus obtained, Source material,

They should be subjected to treatment with alkylating agents at a suitable temperature and thereby converted into ether.

If one used #moderate amounts of alkali, a, nge and alkylating agents #, then thorough atherification could not be achieved and # the products obtained were technically inferior.

But even if you use, for example, quantities of alkaline solutions and. Using alkylating agents that were sufficient for thorough alkylation, ethers were used that were processed into technical products such as artificial threads, films, plastic masses and were not perfectly water-resistant.

The use of such large amounts of alkali lye and alkylating agents has long been a problem because it only allows the apparatus to be used incompletely.

Aside from this, working with large amounts of alkali lye and large amounts of alkylating agents is associated with significant material availability, because recovery of the excess alkali and the excess alkylating agent is practically impossible in some cases, in others it is extremely large Encounter difficulties.

The abovementioned bad buildings can now all be avoided by working according to the present invention after the work process by treating the carbohydrates with solid caustic alkali. The products obtained are no longer technical, 11 inferior, but rather water-resistant.

<B>, </B> The carbon hydrates are advantageously in a finely divided form with solid Xtz alkali in a powdered state, either on their own or in the presence of only so much water or alkali lye that at least a part fles Atzalkalis remains undissolved at room temperature, treated, so z. B.

kneaded, ground or mixed. You can either add water or alkali sauce to the solid caustic alkali and then add the carbohydrate, or you can mix the carbohydrate with the solid caustic alkali and then add water or caustic soda.

The carbohydrate can also be pretreated with water or alkali metal and then incorporated into the solid caustic alkali. <B> In </B> all of these cases, if the work is not performed in the absence of air, e.g. B. in a vacuum or in a different gas atmosphere, happens, a larger or smaller amount of water from the air are absorbed.

The treatment can take place either in the cold or in the warm, whereby the choice of temperature depends both on the amount of the solid caustic alkali used for the treatment and the concentration of the lye, as well as on the desired goal.

If, for example, one has the production of an alkali metal substance with perfect technical properties in mind, and one works with relatively large amounts of solid caustic alkali, then the treatment will only be carried out at moderate temperatures.

yes even advantageous under l # - recommend ühlung. The carbohydrates treated with solid caustic alkali in the presence or absence of water or alkali lye can, if desired, be ranked prior to alkylation. <B> e.g. </B> e.g., by drying in a vacuum or in the air, partially or completely free them of any water that may have adhered to them.

<I> kn </I> The alkylation itself and the work-up - of the reaction masses after corrugated alkalization takes place in the usual way.

el <B> - </B> The present working method also allows <U> the possibility </U> of initially incorporating only as much solid caustic alkali into the carbon dioxide rates or the aferials containing them, possibly with the addition of water or alkali hydroxide solution . in order for the following Al- 1 .:

Only an alkyl derivative of a lower alkylation stage is obtained, whereupon the thus obtained alkyl derivative can be further alkylated with the further addition of caustic alkali and alkylating agents.

  <I> Example I: </I> <B> 1 </B> '/ 2 to 4 parts by weight of finely powdered caustic soda are in a corresponding device, <B> Z </B> B. a mortar, a kneading machine, a Shredder, or an M <B> 3 </B> drum with <B> 1 </B> part by weight of finely divided cellulose in the air,

or mixed in a vacuum or in an inert gas atmosphere, advantageously with cooling, until a uniform mass is produced. When working with air drift, the mass usually attracts water during the mixing process. The misellized product is treated in a known manner with an alkylating agent either immediately after its manufacture or after standing for a shorter or longer period.

So it is, for example, in an autoclave with 2.4 to 6.4 parts by weight of chloroethyl <B> 6 </B> for up to 24 hours at a temperature of <B> 80 </B> to <B> <I> 130 '</I> C </B> held. In this case it is advisable to stir the mass during the reaction or to move the autoclave closed. After the reaction is complete, the ethyl cellulose is isolated from the crude reaction product in such a way that the crude reaction product, if necessary after prior neutralization or acidification,

With water washed out and happy. One can also proceed in such a way that the reaction product, which has been washed in with water, is treated with a dilute acid, washed out again with water and dried.

<I> Example </I> II: In '/ -., Up to <B> 3 </B> parts by weight of 40 to <B> 50- </B> percent sodium hydroxide solution become <B> 1 </B> to 4 parts by weight of finely powdered etched faceplate entered, worn and mixed well by hand or using a suitable device.

This mixture is mixed with <B> 1 </B> part by weight of finely divided cellulose and kneaded or kneaded with it in a suitable device with cooling, at room temperature or with heating. rubbed in until a uniform mass is obtained. This product is now available immediately or after. Shorter or longer standing treated in a known manner with an alkylating agent.

For example, <B> 1.92 </B> to <B> 8.8 </B> parts by weight of chloroethyl are placed in an autoclave and the mixture is added for <B> 8 </B> to 24 hours heated to a temperature of <B> 80 </B> to 130'C. The processing takes place as in example I.
