Apparatus for saving people and objects from the danger of fire. The present invention is an apparatus for rescuing people and objects from fire hazard, which has a lever arm provided at one end with a fixed claw and also with a movable claw, with which claws the lever arm can be attached to a window post most, and which fer ner at the other end of the lever arm has a movably seated ring, the ring body of which is looped around by a rescue rope for the purpose of braking, the rope at one end has means for holding the load.
With this device it is possible, for example, for a firefighter to rescue people on the upper floors who are threatened by fire, to save any objects and finally to save himself.
The subject matter of the invention is shown in the accompanying drawing, for example, in three different views.
A is a strong lever arm approx. 80 cm long, which has a curvature in the middle. The lever arm is bent at one end into an approx. 1 cm long claw b. Claw b has two strong points. A second claw c of the same size can be displaced via the lever arm, the tips of which are opposite the tips of claw b. In the middle of the two claws, the lever arm a can be fixed to a window mullion so that it can absorb a load. The device can for example be such that the claws can encompass a window mullion up to 70 cm thick. A set screw d is used to fix the claw c.
At the outer end of the lever arm a there is an eyelet e, in which a ring e is seated, through which a rope f is pulled with a single loop i, which causes the rope to brake automatically during the rescue service.
A snap hook g is hung in a loop braided at the end of the rope. A life belt h, the belt part of which is made from a double-stitched piece of hide leather, is pushed through a ring 7c . The ring 7c is suspended in the snap hook. At the inner end of the lever arm a at the claw b, a strap l is attached, with which the short wound rope f, as well as the life belt when the device is not in use, are held in place.
Since the movable claw c engages below the claw b in the window mullion when the device is in use, a load attached to it pushes the tips of the claws deep into the window mullion, so that the lever arm then cannot detach itself from the window mullion. With the device drawn and described it is possible, in the event of a sudden fire emergency, to lower one, possibly two or three people at once from the third or fourth floor safely onto the street, and then the rescuer can save himself.
When people or other loads are lowered by a person, the rope is held in the room and the surface is slackened, while the person rescuing himself holds the rope directly below the ring, which is hanging down on the street, directly below the ring, in order to prevent it from going down - Allow yourself to be relieved of your own burden.
