Description

Medium-sized heat engine operated train with at least one refrigerator car.

To date, only compression refrigeration machines have been used to cool railroad cars. In trains operated with steam engines or oil engines, these machines are powered directly from the wagon axle, or through the intermediary of a dynamo driven by this, possibly with the help of an accumulator battery, or by a special oil motor. In the case of trains operated with steam engines or oil engines, however, these types of drive for the refrigeration machine in the individual wagons are either uneconomical or they require large sewing parts in terms of railway operations.

The aim of the present invention is to remedy these inconveniences and to create an extremely economical refrigeration system with at least one refrigerated wagon in the case of railway trains operated by means of steam power or by means of oil engines.

This is achieved according to the invention in that at least one absorption refrigeration machine is provided for cooling the refrigerator wagon (s), which by means of the exhaust steam from the steam engine moving the train, i.e. H. the steam locomotives, respectively. the hot exhaust gases of an oil motor used to move the locomotive is operated. This makes the operation of the refrigeration systems particularly economical, since only the heat that would otherwise be lost is used.

Liquid pumps to be provided in connection with the cooling device can be operated by means of their own motor, or from an accumulator battery, or from the vehicle axle, or with exhaust steam or exhaust gases.

It is readily apparent that when the train is at a standstill, the operation of such an absorption refrigeration device can be maintained without difficulty.

In the event that the medium-thermal-powered railroad train is composed of several refrigerated cars, an independent absorption chiller can be provided in each of the cars to be cooled.
