Aussi, d'après la. fi-.3, les trois 61éments,de orille 1 sont , -ils reliés deux à deux et à l'interrupteur par des batteries9;
Electric bulb of dielectric material, containing a control # component interposed between the anode and the cathode. The object of the invention is an electric bulb of dielectric material, containing a control member interposed between a- node and the cathode, characterized by a metallic coating -disposed to , the outside of the bulb, at the height of said organ, and brought to a positive potential pia; relation, to this one, with the aim of creating inside inside the bulb an induced field capable of repelling the electrons towards the control member and to increase the action of the latter.
The accompanying drawing shows schematically #cIes embodiments of the object of the invention, given to by way of example.
Fig. 1 is a partial cross section of a bulb and the actuator, the latter in the form known as a grid; Fi # -1. 2 is a circuit diagram of a mercury bulb, and Fign. 3 is a variation of the grid connection diagram. In these -drawings, 1 is a grid brought to, a negative potential by relation to, the ca thode and constituted by three parallel elements provided with openings arranged in quin conce, therefore not located in front of each other.
Electrons 2 emitted by the cathode animated by a movement directed according to the arrows, may not meet the first grid element if their trajectory, close to a line of force of the -cathode- .anode field, passes through an opening of this element, the speed that they have at this moment being large enough so that this trajectory can only bend in the vicinity of the grid, without however coming to touch it.
But the second grid element will stop almost all of the said electrons which have passed through the openings of the first element, and the third will finally stop those which may still have escaped the second.
In the bulb represented by fig. 2, the cathode is kept constantly in the active state by an auxiliary arc whose circuit comprises an auxiliary anode 3, a current fie source continuous 4, a resistor, 5 and a self-induction coil 6; 25 - denotes the anode and 26 the cathode of the bulb.
The three elements of the 1 grid are coupled in parallel and connected to an inLerrup- fer 7 allowing to connect them to the pole of a battery 8 whose positive pole is connected to the cathode.
It may be advantageous to control the krille elements of potential differences such that the element closest to the anode is at the lowest potential, the goal of superimposing, in space, c (im- caught between the grids, on the anode-cathode electric field which drives the electrons towards the anode, an inverse electric field of c; en.q which reduces the speed of these electrons.
Also, according to the. fi-. 3, the three 61 elements, of orille 1 are , -they connect two to two and < B> at the switch by batteries 9;
large resistors 10, intended to prevent the formation of short-rents between the cells, establish a connection between the positive pole of a battery and the negative pole of the neighboring battery.
Despite these devices, electrons can escape between the grid and the. inner wall of the bulb. In order to eliminate this drawback, a metallic coating 23 applied to the outer face of the bulb at the height of the. grid and brought to a positive potential with respect to to the latter.
This coating, positively charged, has the effect of creating on the internal wall of the tube a negative layer which pushes the electrons 2 towards the elements of the #n Crille 1 by which they are then stopped. . It therefore makes the value of the latter more complete and makes it possible to reduce the potential cl-ri value, negative with respect to to # that of the cathode,
that it is necessary to establish on this 01rille is to interrupt the principal -cipal which goes. from the anode to the cathode, either to -decrease its intensity, or finally only to prevent the establishment of such a current.
The invention applies both to am poules in which the current is transported only by electrons, as, for example, in ordinary hearing, as well as to those in which it is also transported by ions, such as, by for example, in devices to fired with mercury or containing an inert gas, such as # trgon. Said # 1 # coating applies to glass or quartz ampoules, all-power, either ty ,
eg known to hot filament, or of the metallic vapor type.
