Description
Process for the production of blinstuff which can be used for heramical wetness, glasses, glazes, furthermore for water glass and Hörtelfabrikation. - The use of the pumice stuff to produce ceramic bodies, glazes and glasses has already been suggested earlier.
However, the practical implementation of this idea failed because the glasses and glazes did not meet the requirements due to the unevenness of their color and the ceramic masses due to streaking. - It has now been found that the pumice stuff can be used very well for ceramic purposes, glazes and glasses, furthermore for water glass and mortar production, if it has been freed from the admixed particles of the adjacent rock ("Schiilferchen"),
that is, those particles of rock that covered the magnetic melt flow before the eruption and were carried along in finely divided form by the volcanic masses during the eruption.
These secondary constituents can be removed in the most varied of ways. For example, the usual mechanical processing methods, such as sludge and washing, or so-called centrifugal separation can be used for this purpose. Under certain circumstances, the magnetic. Processing come into consideration, with the help of which the iron ore particles are removed. Finally, electrical processing should also be mentioned in this context.
Apart from the processing methods mentioned above, the chemical treatment of the pumice stuffing can also be used to remove the troublesome secondary components, for example by using acids to dissolve these components.
Depending on the prevailing conditions, the methods given above can of course also be combined.
The present invention has opened up a completely new field of application for pumice stuffing.
