Electric device for rapid heating of water. The object of the invention is an electrical device for the rapid heating of water, intended to be adapted to a cold water pipe, characterized by a water circulation body combined with an insulated electrical resistance, arranged for heating the water circulating in said body, the latter communicating by a tap with the cold water pipe, and a switch being arranged near said tap to automatically produce the passage of electric current in the resistor when this is opened. valve and to interrupt the passage of this current as soon as said valve is closed.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention adapted to a cold water tap for a washbasin or a bathroom.
Fig. 1 is an elevation with part in section, FIG. 2 a partial rear view, FIG. 3 a plan, and FIG. 4 a partial section taken along line 4-4 of FIG. 3.
In this embodiment, a is the cold water tap b a hollow shaft fixed through the water supply pipe, behind the tap key. This axis b has a reduced portion, bent b1, in order to facilitate the passage of water in the pipe of the tap a, above and below this axis. In this bent portion is formed an intake orifice b2, to admit water to a tap c. This tap c is connected to the axis b with, using a knee lever d, thanks to which the position of the water heater can be adjusted in height, forwards and backwards, to bring the mouth from which hot water escapes at the desired point.
The knee lever d is provided with a needle dl, intended to adjust the flow rate of the water admitted to the tap c, and opens into the body of the valve c, which opens, on the other hand, between the two envelopes f1 < I> f <B> '</B> </I> of a heating body f, in insulating material, on which an electrical resistance g is wound in a spiral, - intended to heat the water flowing in the direction Indicated by the arrows (fig. 1) inside the heating body f and its two envelopes f 1 <B> <I> f '. </I> </B>
P indicates a partition closing the bottom of the annular space existing between the two envelopes f1 and f2, below passages f4, formed in the lower envelope of insulating material f2, to allow the passage of the liquid to the inside this envelope.
The heating body fa the form of a cylinder pierced axially with a passage f 'to lead liquid to an outlet opening f', and having on its periphery a helical groove f7 of semi-circular section serving housing to the electrical resistance g. The lower end of this groove f 'communicates with a vertical passage fg, formed in the body f for the exit of the resistance wire.
The key of the tap c is integral with a cam h, intended to actuate the button i, of an electric switch housed in a box k, fixed to the tap c. This switch is interlocked in the electrical circuit comprising the flexible double conductors l and m, the first of which carries a plug n allowing it to be connected to a light circuit, while the second forms the resistance g surrounding the heating body f , and going back inside the latter in f8.
The relative position of the button i of the switch and of the cam lh integral with the valve c is adjusted so that, when the valve c is closed, the electrical circuit is interrupted, while, when said valve is open, the circuit is closed. The water is therefore heated automatically as soon as the tap is opened c. This operation is completely independent of the opening or closing of cold water tap n.
The orifice f6 may be provided with a bayonet seal to which a thread coffee maker r of known type fits. The latter can be combined with a removable tray intended to carry a cup.
Instead of being cylindrical, the heating body can have another shape.
