turbine self-regulating method and device. The present invention relates to a method and a device automatically regulating the speed of rotation of a turbine.
In known turbines, the rotor generally occupies a fixed position relative to the distributor, but the idea has already been of making the rotor capable of being moved back in front of the distributor. , parallel to its axis, so to hide or release more or less the passage section of the motor flap, this displacement of the rotor being obtained by means of a servo motor.
This device is complicated and does not seem to have been used in practice. According to the present invention, the longitudinal displacement of the rotor and of the shutter member is effected automatically by the direct action of a centric force regulator which comes into action. as soon as the speed varies as a result of variations in motor work or heavy duty work.
Therefore, any increase in speed, for whatever cause it may be due, immediately causes a reduction in the section of passage of the working fluid and, consequently, a decrease in rotor speed. On the contrary, any decrease in speed results in an enlargement of the working fluid passage section and consequently an increase in rotor speed.
It results from it that a turbine thus established and equipped can turn only with a determined speed. This automatic regulation device requires very little force. The movement of displacement of the rotor following # -on axis is, in fact, a sight-seeing movement (longitudinal displacement accompanied by a rotation) and if the various forces acting on the rotor clans the direction of its axis (suction , gravity etc.) are at every moment # suitable.menf; balanced, it suffices to overcome the friction of the shaft in its various supports.
Now these friction to because of the swaying movement. are very reliable.
The accompanying drawing, given by way of example, shows schematically one of the embodiments of this invention applied to a centripetal hydraulic turbine, but it is understood that any other arrangement can be used to polish achieve the longitudinal displacement of the rotor under the direct action of a centrifugal force regulator, just as the invention applies to all turbines, whether hydraulic, to are afraid or driven by any fluid, whether they are with horizontal or vertical axis, to action or to reaction, and without this enumeration being exhaustive.
In the example shown, the rotor with blades 1, keyed and fixed on a horizontal shaft 2, carries an extension forming a kind of cylindrical slide 3. The water arrives through the fixed distributor 4 placed inside the spiral cover 5, bed in the usual way.
On the shaft 2 is also keyed and fixed a pulley 6 on which are articulated the ends of the brimba] le, # 7, 7a of a regulator at centrifulue force 13 whose other brimballes 8, 8a are articulated on a part 9, capable of turning on the pa- fixed link 10, without being able to move longi- tudinally.
A spring 1.2 is interposed between the pou lie 6 el; stage 10.
The shaft 2 can move longitudinally in the 1.1 el stuffing box; the bearing 10. The pulley 6 is driven by a belt, for example, a dynamo.
The operation of this device is easy to, to understand: If the speed of rotation increases, the masses 13 move apart and move the pulley in the xy direction 6 - < / B> and consequently the shaft 2 and the rotor 1, with its, shutter 3, so that this last mask more or less the passage of distributor 4, which has, polishing effect of decreasing the speed of the rotor.
If, on the contrary, the speed of rotation of the 't-, Urbiiie decreases, the displacement of the shaft 2 is done in the opposite direction and the passage section of the distributor increases, this which au- tD Z, Zn also lies the speed of the rotor.
Regulation is thus automatic. The turbine can therefore be left to itself, and whatever the work involved, whatever the variations in the height (the drop, whatever the variations in flow, the rotor will always appear in front of the distributor so that, as a bet, the requested power is supplied (within the power limits of the chute) and that, on the other hand, the operating speed is never exceeded or reduced.
We can obviously use various el modes; to, various embodiments without compromising the nature of this invention. Depending on the circumstances and the applications, it is also possible to modify the construction and assembly details. On the other hand, the dif ferent elements making up this device can be replaced by others playing the same role or giving the same result.
