Winding and time-setting mechanism. The present invention relates to a winding and time-setting mechanism; this mechanism is characterized in that it comprises, on the one hand, a shaft carried by the movement, perpendicular to the latter, and on which are mounted two toothed wheels, one controlling the barrel and the other the minute hand and, on the other hand, a crown carried by the case, able to rotate in a plane parallel to the dial, provided with toothing by grinding on one of the wheels, and which can be moved perpendicular to the dial, against at least one spring, to bring this toothing into engagement with the other wheel.
The two aforementioned wheels being mounted on a shaft perpendicular to the plate, the result is that all the rotary members of the mechanism rotate in a plane parallel to the dial; furthermore, the shaft and the wheels are part of the movement and the crown is mounted on the box. the mechanism according to the invention therefore does not have an organ, such as a winding stem, housed both in the case and in the movement, which simplifies winding. The appended drawing represents, by way of example, a mechanism according to the invention applied to an automobile watch and a detailed variant of this mechanism.
Fig. 1 is a front view of said watch with the dial removed; fig. 2 is a section taken along line 11-I1 of FIG. 1; fig. 3 relates to the variant.
The caseback is of the watch shown in figs. 1 and 2, carries an internal flange b to which is fixed the bezel c provided with the lens cl. In the recess formed by the flange b is fixed the half-plate d. This is linked, by pillars, to the plate dl which carries to its lower part the central barrel e.
On the movement is mounted the shaft f carrying the two wheels f 1 and f ', the first fixed on it, the other mad climb. To the lower part of the shaft f is also fixed the pinion f 3 meshing with the teeth of the barrel let e.
Between flange b and la. bezel c is mounted on crown g, bearing teeth g1, to which the knurled outer crown g2 is attached. This crown g is supported by four rolling balls h., Which springs hl, engaged in housings h2 fixed to the box, tend to push outward.
In the position shown in FIG. 2, the toothing g1 is engaged with the wheel f 1. The latter, fixed on the shaft f, can only turn in one direction, thanks to the pawl k. When a pressure perpendicular to the plane of the dial is exerted on the crown g2, the crown g lowers against the springs hl and engages with the wheel f2; the latter, as already said, mad climb on the shaft f, constantly meshes with a mobile i of the timer.
In its normal position shown in FIG. 2, crown g meshes with wheel f 1 and, when crown g2 is turned, in the winding direction, the barrel is wound up via pinion f '; for the setting the time, it is necessary to exert pressure on the crown g2, perpendicular to the plane of the dial: the toothing g1 engages the wheel f 2 and the time is set by turning the crown g2, one way or the other.
In the variant of fig. 3, the toothing g1 is carried by a crown G, in one piece, in which the circular groove o has been turned.
