Abstract

Se describen composiciones y métodos para tratar las aguas residuales producidas por las operaciones de extracción minera de cobre. Se ha descubierto que la escoria de las operaciones de fabricación de acero y otros materiales de desecho industrial que incluyen elementos de metal alcalino y/o alcalinotérreo elevan el pH de las aguas residuales y también reducen el contenido de arsénico. Después de dicho tratamiento, la escoria gastada o los desechos industriales pueden utilizarse como fuente de metales valiosos o incorporarse en materiales de construcción estabilizados.
