Abstract

The invention provides a replaceable faceplate (2) for a mobile radio station (1) and a method of manually securing the replaceable faceplate (2) to the mobile radio station (1). The exchangeable panel (2) has at least one snap fastening means (20), which is preferably arranged at an edge (22) of the exchangeable panel (2). When the exchangeable panel (2) is manually fixed to the front part (3) of the housing (3, 5) of a mobile radio station (1), such as a mobile radio station (1), the snap fastening means (20) of the panel (2) snap into the snap fastening means (10) of the mobile radio station (1), whereby the fastening means (10, 20) are manually fixed together. Background technique

For aesthetic reasons, some portable wireless communication devices are provided with faceplates. The faceplate can be provided with different patterns, for example, or the user can choose a certain form of faceplate in order to personalize the mobile radio station. The faceplate can be fixed to the front or flap of the mobile radio station.

Portable wireless communication devices, hereinafter referred to as mobile wireless stations, include various portable wireless communication devices, such as mobile phones, pagers and communicators, so they are called electronic organizers and the like.

It is a great advantage that the front panel is replaceable, because the user can replace the front panel if personalizing the mobile radio station. Mobile radio stations with replaceable faceplates are known in the prior art. However, there are problems with existing panels. One problem is the need to use tools in order to replace the panels. Another problem is that the fixtures are visible, giving a vulgar impression.

Contents of the invention

The general problem to be solved by the present invention is to provide a replaceable front panel of a mobile radio station which is easy for the user of the mobile radio station to replace without adhesives or tools and without unnecessarily bending the front panel.

A more specific problem to be solved by the present invention is to provide a replaceable faceplate for a mobile radio station, with fixing means, but which is invisible when the faceplate is fixed on the mobile radio station.

This problem is substantially solved by replaceable panels having at least one snap fastening means, preferably placed on one edge of the replaceable panel. The replaceable panel may be manually secured to the mobile radio, for example to the front portion of the mobile radio housing. When the replaceable panel is manually fixed to the mobile wireless station, the snap fixing device of the panel, preferably a snap bayonet, is fastened with the fixing device of the mobile wireless station, preferably a hole. The snap bayonet is concealed after being snapped into the hole, so that the snap bayonet and the hole are fixed to each other. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the panel has at least one protrusion on one edge thereof, which protrusion is inserted into a recess in the mobile radio station when the panel is secured to the mobile radio station. The snap bayonet together with the protrusion keeps the panel from falling off from the mobile wireless station, thereby forming the main fixing function. However, the replaceable panels can also be equipped with more fastening devices, such as snap snaps on the edges of the replaceable panels. The replaceable panel is also equipped with guides, like guide pins, to help the user fix the replaceable panel in the correct position when fixing the panel.

A general object of the present invention is to provide a replaceable faceplate for a mobile radio station that is easily replaceable by the user of the mobile radio station without adhesives or tools.

A more specific object of the present invention is to provide a replaceable faceplate for a mobile radio station with fastening means which is invisible when the faceplate is fixed on the mobile radio station.

A general advantage of the present invention is that the replaceable faceplate of the mobile radio station is easily replaced by the user without any adhesives or tools, or without unnecessarily bending the faceplate. Being able to change panels is a great advantage to the user if, for example, he wants to exchange a panel with a certain pattern for a panel with a different pattern.

A more specific advantage of the present invention is to provide a replaceable faceplate for a mobile radio station with fastening means, but the faceplate is concealed and therefore invisible when fastened to the mobile radio station.

A more specific advantage of the present invention is to provide a replaceable faceplate for a mobile radio station, with fixing means, which is small and does not require a large space. For small mobile radios, it is a great advantage if the fixtures are small, since there is not much space left for any fixtures.

Detailed ways

FIG. 1 shows a mobile radio station 1 in its exploded perspective view.

The mobile radio station comprises a panel 2, a front part 3 of the housing of the mobile radio station 1, a printed circuit board 4 and a rear part 5 of the housing 3, 5 of the mobile radio station 1. These parts are arranged to fit together. However, the faceplate 2 is detachable, and the user of the mobile radio station 1 can remove the faceplate 2 from the mobile radio station 1 by hand and reattach it by hand.

The front part 3 comprises fixing elements which are first and second substantially rectangular upper grooves 6 , 7 ; first and second side fixing means 8 , 9 ; and first fixing means 10 . The first and second side fixing means are respectively a first side hole 8 and a second side hole 9 . The first fixing means is the lower hole 10 . The frontal part 3 further comprises lower access means 11 which are grooves in the frontal part 3; first, second, third, fourth guide grooves 12, 13, 14, 15. The guide grooves 12 , 13 , 14 , 15 provide the mobile radio station 1 with a first guide system 12 , 13 , 14 , 15 , helping the user to secure the panel 2 to the front part 3 accurately.

The panel 2 comprises further fixing elements, which are first and second upper protrusions 16, 17; first and second side fixing means 18, 19 and second fixing means 20 (see FIG. ). The first and second side securing means are first and second side snap bayonets 18 , 19 . The second fixing means 20 is a lower snap bayonet 20 provided with a gripping means 20a, which is a slot 20a. The first and second upper protrusions 16, 17 are placed on the upper edge 21 of the panel 2, the lower snap bayonet 20 is placed substantially in the middle of the lower edge 22 of the panel 2, and the first and second side snap bayonets 18, 19 are placed on the first edge 23 and the second edge 24 of the panel 2 respectively. The panel 2 further comprises first, second, third and fourth guides 25, 26, 27, 28 placed on the first, second, third and fourth corners 29, 30, 31, 32 of the panel 2 respectively (See Figure 2). The guide means 25 , 26 , 27 , 28 provide the panel 2 with a second guide system 25 , 26 , 27 , 28 which is arranged to cooperate with the first guide system 12 , 13 , 14 , 15 of the mobile radio station 1 .

The user of the mobile radio station 1 can easily fix the panel 2 and the mobile radio station by hand. In the first step, the first and second upper protrusions 16, 17 are inserted into the first and second upper grooves of the front part 3 respectively. 6,7. Next, press the lower snap catch 20 inwardly toward the middle of the panel 2 while inserting the snap catch 20 into the lower hole 10 . The side snap bayonets 18, 19 firmly fix the panel on the front part 3. Therefore, when the panel 2 is fixed to the mobile radio station 1, no noise will be generated when the user presses the button of the mobile radio station.

When the panel 2 is fixed to the mobile wireless station 1, the panel 2 can be easily disassembled. The first step is to press the lower snap bayonet 20 to the middle of the panel 2, and the next step is to manually lift the panel 2 from the front part 3. It is easy for the user to press the lower snap bayonet 20 toward the middle of the panel 2, as long as the user inserts the finger into the lower entry device 11 and then lifts the panel 2. When the panel 2 is lifted, the snap bayonet 20 is pressed inward into the middle of the panel. The slot 20 a helps the user to hold the snap button 20 . Therefore, when the panel 2 is removed from the front part 3, the first step is to press the lower snap bayonet 20 to the middle of the panel, and then release the lower snap bayonet 20 from the lower hole 10, and then the panel 2 is removed from the front part. 3 lift up, like this, side snap bayonet 18,19 just unclamps from side hole 8,9, and upper protrusion 16,17 just dismounts from upper groove 6,7.

In the embodiment of the invention shown in FIG. 1, the front panel 2 is arranged to be fastened to the front part 3 of the housing 3,5 of the mobile radio station 1. As shown in FIG. However, in other embodiments of the invention, the faceplate may be fixed to other parts of the mobile radio, such as for example a flip of the mobile radio. In the embodiment of the invention shown in FIG. 1 , the panel 3 also covers the display area 33 of the mobile radio station 1 . In other embodiments of the present invention, the panel can only cover the keypad area 34 of the mobile radio station 1 and not the display area 33 .

The invention is not limited to the embodiment of the invention shown in Figures 1-4. For example, the fastening means 18, 19, 20 of the panel 2 can be ball joints, wherein the corresponding fastening means 8, 9, 10 of the mobile radio station 1 are fixed socket joints. The groove 20a may be, for example, a protrusion. It is also emphasized here that the snap fixing devices 18, 19, 20 arranged to block the fixing devices 8, 9, 10 of the mobile radio station 1 can be any fixing devices arranged to block other fixing devices, such as wedges or spring loaded nails.

The exploded view of the mobile radio station 1 in FIG. 1 is a schematic diagram, and some specific parts of the mobile radio station, such as screws, are not shown.

Figure 2 shows in its perspective the back of the replaceable panel 2 together with several fixing elements. These fastening elements are first and second upper protrusions 16, 17; first and second side snap catches 18, 19 and lower snap catches 20 provided with slots 20a. The first and second upper protrusions 16 , 17 are placed on the upper edge 21 of the panel 2 . The first snap button 18 is placed on the first edge 23 of the panel 2 , and the second snap button 19 is placed on the second edge 24 of the panel 2 . The lower snap socket 20 is located on the lower edge 22 of the panel 2 .

The panel 2 also has first, second, third and fourth guides 25 , 26 , 27 , 28 on its back side, which are respectively placed at the first, second, third and fourth corners of the panel 2 .

3 and 4 show fastening elements for fastening the panel 2 to the front part 3 of the housing 3 , 5 of the mobile radio station 1 .

FIG. 3 shows in detail the snap button slot 18 inserted into the first side hole 8 of the front part 3 and fastened to the panel 2 of the front part 3 .

FIG. 4 shows in detail the lower snap bayonet 20 of the panel 2 secured to the substantially rectangular lower hole 10 in the front part 3 . Also shown is the lower access means 11 of the frontal part 3 . The lower access means 11 is a recess in the front part 3 which provides user access to the lower snap bayonet 20 . When the panel is detached from the front part 3 , the groove 20 a of the snap bayonet 20 helps the user to hold the panel 2 .
