Abstract
Un aparato incluye un tubo con al menos una salida de flujo en comunicación con un interior del tubo. El aparato incluye válvulas para conectar selectivamente la salida de flujo con una de una línea de regreso de fluido y una entrada de una bomba de fluido. El aparato también incluye válvulas para conectar selectivamente la salida de la bomba con la línea de regreso de fluido y cerrar la salida de la bomba. Un método incluye regresar el lodo desde el pozo hacia un tubo ascendente que se extiende entre el pozo y una unidad de perforación en la superficie de un cuerpo de agua. El flujo desde de un tubo en el tubo ascendente se desvía selectivamente a una entrada a una bomba de fluido o una línea de regreso de lodo que se extiende desde el tubo a la unidad de perforación. Cuando el flujo se desvía para regresar el lodo el flujo en el tubo ascendente se detiene encima del tubo. Cuando el flujo se desvía a la entrada de la bomba, la bomba se opera para elevar el lodo para mantener una presión de lodo seleccionada en el pozo.
