Abstract

A process to preserve and store nematodes that have an increased nutritional value for later use according to the needs in the feeding of aquaculture organisms. In this process, the nematodes are enriched with an additive such as essential fatty acids, vaccines, hormones, immunostimulants, cohesive agents, nutrients and pigments. Liposomes can serve as a means to feed the nematode additives. Enriched nematodes are subsequently dehydrated inducing anhydrobiosis (dehydration) and stored for use "off the underwater platform" as necessary. When required for feeding, dehydrated enriched nematodes are rehydrated and fed to aquaculture organisms.
