Abstract
Se proporcionan metodos y materiales para conferir resistencia a plagas a plantas. Las plantas se transforman con una construccion de silenciamiento homologa a un gen de una plaga que es esencial para la supervivencia, desarrollo o patogenicidad de la plaga. Esto origina que la planta produzca ARNi para el gen seleccionado, el cual cuando es ingerido por la plaga produce el silenciamiento del gen y una posterior reduccion de la capacidad de la plaga para danar la planta. En otras realizaciones, la capacidad reducida de la plaga para danar a la planta se transmite a la progenie de la plaga. Tambien se proporcionan metodos y materiales para la eliminacion de la patogenicidad de las plagas.
