Description
Vynález se týká způsobu hydrogenace esterů vyšších nenasycených karboxylových kyselin v přítomnosti katalytického systému na bázi bis(2,4-pentadionátu)nikelnatého a organohlinitých sloučenin. The invention relates to a process for the hydrogenation of higher unsaturated carboxylic acid esters in the presence of a catalyst system based on nickel bis (2,4-pentadionate) and organoaluminium compounds.
Hydrogenation of unsaturated carboxylic acid esters is not only theoretically interesting, but also technically and economically important process, which is widely used, for example, in the fat industry to refine and solidify vegetable oils and animal fats. It is known that the hydrogenation of these higher fatty acid glyoerides containing up to three carbon-carbon double bonds in their molecule can be accomplished as a heterogeneous process by using supported metals such as nickel on alumina as catalysts. A disadvantage of this process of hydrogenation, which is still largely used in technical practice, is the relatively low efficiency and selectivity of these types of catalysts, which require a hydrogenation process at relatively high temperatures. This is associated with a number of limitations in the selectivity of the reaction, ie the conversion of hydrogenated starting materials to a compound or mixture of compounds of the desired chemical composition.
James:It is further known from the literature that catalysts for the hydrogenation of unsaturated compounds are also transition metal complexes of I., II., V-VIII. groups of the Periodic System of Elements (B.R. James:
Homogeneous hydrogenation, Wiley, New York 1973), z nichž pro hydrogenaci esterů nenasycených mastných kyselin byly zejména využity tzv. Zieglerovy katalyzátory, získané ze sloučeniny niklu reakcí s organohlinitými látkami typu A1R3, kde R označuje alkyl- a alkoxyskupi197 143Homogeneous hydrogenation, Wiley, New York 1973), of which the so-called Ziegler catalysts obtained from a nickel compound by reaction with organoaluminium-type A1R 3 compounds, in which R denotes alkyl and alkoxy groups, were mainly used to hydrogenate unsaturated fatty acid esters197 143
197 143 ny. č. 2 258 896 a NSR vykl. spis č. 2 503 486).197 143 ny. Catalysts of this type, obtained by combining a transition metal compound with triethyl aluminum, have been reported to be active in the hydrogenation of monoolefins (J. Amer. Chem. Soc. 85, 4014 (1983)), polyenfl and unsaturated fatty acid esters (Jap. Pat. No. 5,181,070), and the nickel bis (2,4-pentadionate) system with triethyl aluminum and diethyl monoethoxy aluminum was used in the low temperature hydrogenation of cottonseed oil (Yukagaku 24, 11 ¢ 1975), Yukagaku 24, 649 (1975) in n- hexane as the solvent. Nickel divalent compounds with triethyl aluminum have been shown to be effective catalysts for the selective, solvent-free hydrogenation of polyunsaturated oils (French Pat. No. 2,258,896 and Germany 2,253,486).
According to the process of the invention, the hydrogenation of esters of higher unsaturated carboxylic acids containing one to three C = C bonds and a chain of 12 to 22 carbon atoms, preferably glycerides of these acids, is carried out in the presence of a nickel bis (2,4-pentadionate) catalyst system and organoaluminium compounds, wherein the catalyst is a system formed by the reaction of lithium bis (2,4-pentadionate) with sodium bis (2-methoxyethoxy) dihydride using both ratios of 1: 0.5 to 1:20 by weight.
Typickými látkami podléhajícími hydrogenaci postupem podle vynálezu jsou estery nenasycených kyselin obsahujících jednu až tři C=C vazby, jejichž řetězec je tvořen 12 až 22 atomy uhlíku, např. methylestery kyseliny linolenové a olejové nebo jejich směsi. Typickým materiálem v druhém případě je bavlníkový, sójový, slunečnicový a řepkový olej a živočišné tuky, např. hovězí lůj apod.Typical compounds subject to hydrogenation by the process of the invention are unsaturated acid esters containing one to three C = C bonds having a chain of 12 to 22 carbon atoms, such as linolenic and oleic acid methyl esters or mixtures thereof. Typical material in the second case is cotton, soy, sunflower and rapeseed oil and animal fats such as beef tallow etc.
Hydrogenation of these compounds using the catalyst described herein can be carried out in a solvent or in the absence of a solvent, at a temperature of 10 to 180 ° C and a hydrogen pressure of up to 2 MPa, weighing 1 part by weight of nickel 000 parts by weight of hydrogenated substance. Aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons, preferably n-hexane, petroleum ether, gasoline fractions having a boiling point up to 70 ° C, can be used as solvent. The solvent is particularly advantageous when carrying out the hydrogenation of unsaturated acid glycerides at low temperatures, during which the viscosity of the reaction mixture or the precipitation of solid products is undesirably increased during the reaction.
V závislosti na podmínkách reakce, navážkách katalyzátoru a hmotnostním poměru obou složek použitých při přípravě katalyzátoru umožňuje postup popsaný v tomto vynálezu vést hydrogenaci selektivně do různého stupně nasycenosti vznikajících produktů. Tak např. sójový olej, obsahující směs glyceridů kyseliny linolenové, linolové, olejové, stearové a palmitové, lze za použití popsaného katalyzátoru hydrogenovat za odstranění esteru kyseliny linolenové bez podstatného zvýšení obsahu esteru kyseliny stearové nebo lze hydrogenaci vést selektivně do stadia oleátů nebo stearátů.Depending on the reaction conditions, the weight of the catalyst and the weight ratio of the two components used in the preparation of the catalyst, the process described in this invention allows the hydrogenation to be selectively led to different degrees of saturation of the products formed. For example, soybean oil containing a mixture of linolenic, linoleic, oleic, stearic and palmitic glycerides can be hydrogenated using the described catalyst to remove the linolenic acid ester without substantially increasing the stearic ester content, or the hydrogenation can be selectively led to the oleate or stearate stage.
A further advantage of the process of the invention over the prior art processes is the fact that a substance is used to activate the catalytic system, the handling of which is not associated with the risk of autoignition common to some triorganoaluminium compounds, e.g. triethyl aluminum.
The examples below illustrate the process of the invention without limiting or limiting it.
