Vynález pojednává o použití skel s upraveným chemickým složením k rekalibraci a seřizování rentgenových emisních a fluorescenčních spektrometrů.The invention relates to the use of glasses with modified chemical composition for recalibration and adjustment of X-ray emission and fluorescence spectrometers.
The working characteristics of X-ray spectrometers are periodically checked and measured using standard reference materials. In the first phase, the X-ray spectrometer is calibrated using a set of these standards, which fully correspond to the materials and substances to be analyzed in terms of chemical composition and all physical properties, for example crystallographic, mineralogical and granulometric. After their measurement, an analytical program is prepared using the multiple regression method, which is loaded into the computer and the spectrometer is ready to analyze unknown samples of the same type. In the second phase, however, it is necessary to eliminate the influence of fluctuations in the sensitivity of individual measuring channels in order to guarantee the long-term reliability of the analytical function. This is done by the so-called spectrometer recalibration.
Kalibrační standardní referenční materiály obvykle nesplňují současně požadavky kladené na rekalibrační látky vzhledem k jejich omezené stabilitě a pak také tím, žeUnlike the aforementioned calibration, which is time-consuming because it requires the measurement of a significant number, usually 25 to 150 standard reference materials - which, however, do not necessarily have to be stable in the long term, recalibration must be carried out relatively quickly using the smallest number of recalibration standards, which do not have to correspond to the analyzed samples in terms of their chemical composition or physical properties, but must be stable in the long term and, when irradiated, must provide both reasonably high and very low pulse frequencies at the wavelengths of the individual elements. Calibration standard reference materials usually do not meet the requirements placed on recalibration substances due to their limited stability and also because
It is not possible to arrive at a sufficiently low number of standards with maximum and minimum element contents by mere selection. Nevertheless, for the time being, a relatively high number of standards from materials of often completely different composition, selected more or less randomly, are used for recalibration purposes, with stability being the decisive criterion. These are usually minerals, ceramics, but often also metals or pearls.
It follows from the above that ideal standard reference materials must be prepared synthetically and, if they are to be highly stable, must contain all elements in the form of oxides. Synthesis is difficult on a laboratory scale, with the exception of pearls, which do not meet the requirement of long-term stability to the atmosphere and radiation. Creating suitable stable melts by synthesis is difficult on a laboratory scale and requires a deeper knowledge of glass technology. Generally, synthetic reference materials have not been produced industrially so far, and therefore laboratories resort to less suitable improvisations with varying results.
The mentioned shortcomings are eliminated by the method of recalibrating an X-ray spectrometer according to the invention, the essence of which is that glass in which reference elements are dispersed in elemental form or in the form of their oxides is used as a standard reference material.
Hlavním přínosem použití standardních referenčních materiálů v podobě skel podle vynálezu je zvýšení spolehlivosti analýzy následkem dlouhodobé stability vzorků a značné zjednodušení a zkrácení času při rekalibraci díky vhodně přizpůsobenému složení v rozpětí vyšetřovaného obsahového oboru, tedy snížená pracnosti i úspora drahého přístrojového času..The main benefit of using standard reference materials in the form of glasses according to the invention is increased reliability of analysis due to long-term stability of samples and significant simplification and reduction of time during recalibration due to suitably adapted composition within the range of the investigated content area, i.e. reduced labor and saving of expensive instrument time.
Podstata vynálezu je dále blíže rozvedena v šesti tabelárně zpracovaných příkladech:The essence of the invention is further elaborated in six tabulated examples:

The composition of glass and the quantitative representation of individual elements, or their oxides, allows for virtually endless possibilities of variation due to their variability and adapts to a specific field. For example, the required lead content range in a standard reference sample used in the glass industry will be different from another for detecting traces of lead in ecological analyses and the like.
