Abstract
The method of producing hardenable steel is based on the technology of granulation of a molten alloy and subsequent sintering of the granulate. According to this method, steel enriched with the required amount of titanium compound is melted and the melt is granulated by one of the known methods, for example, by spraying with neutral gas, water, etc. The resulting powder granulate is then, after any preliminary treatment, pressed and sintered. Various powder metallurgy processes can be used for pressing and sintering.
Description
Vynález se týká způsobu výroby kalitelné oceli obohacené sloučeninou titanu, vhodné pro výrobu výkonných řezných i neřezných nástrojů.BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to a process for producing hardenable steel enriched with a titanium compound suitable for the production of powerful cutting and non-cutting tools.
The materials used hitherto contain a significant proportion of ice-burritic carbides of tungsten, molybdenum, vanadium, resp. so-called complex of carbides. Some of them are also enriched with titanium carbide or carbonitride. The steel which is the subject of the invention contains, in the state after quenching, in addition to the basic matrix, exclusively titanium compounds, or a small residual amount of ledeburitic carbides of other types. The production of this steel by conventional metallurgical processes, ie from ingots or directly in the form of castings, does not make full use of the advantages that result from its chemical and phase composition. Steel produced in this way has sufficient hardness, but low toughness and difficult to grind.
Po zakalení je ve struktuře oceli s výhodou přítomno nejvýše 10 % obj. nerozpustných karbidů wolframu, molybdenu a/nebo vanadu, popřípaděThe above-mentioned disadvantages are overcome by the process for the production of the hardenable steel according to the invention, comprising 10 to 70% by volume of titanium compounds, for example titanium carbide or carbonitride, with 30 to 90% by volume of matrices of 0.3 to 0.7% by weight carbon , not more than 3% of silicon, not more than 5% of chromium, not more than 2% of vanadium, 1 to 9% of tungsten, not more than 4% of molybdenum, not more than 10% of cobalt. The principle of the invention is that the required type and amount of titanium compound is alloyed into the base alloy in the molten state in the form of the compound and / or individual components, after which the alloy is granulated, compressed and sintered. The process according to a further aspect of the invention consists in adding the components of the titanium compound at least in part to the alloy in the form of an alloy or a compound, for example ferrotitanium and chromium carbide. After opacification, preferably not more than 10% by volume of insoluble tungsten, molybdenum and / or vanadium carbides are present in the steel structure.

The steel produced by the process of the invention contains titanium particles precipitated by rapid solidification of the granules in a substantially finer form than when solidifying an alloy of the same composition in a conventional size ingot. The adverse effect of the particles on the toughness of the steel is thus significantly reduced while maintaining a favorable effect on hardness and wear resistance. The process described can be used to produce both semi-finished and finished products. The steel produced by the proposed process is suitable for the production of the most stressed cutting tools. It can also be used for non-cutting tools or for structural parts if they require extra wear resistance.

The process according to the invention is based on the technology of granulating the molten alloy and subsequently sintering the granulate. According to this method, steel enriched with the required amount of titanium compound is melted and the melt is granulated by some of the known methods, for example by spraying with neutral gas, water and the like. The resulting powder granulate is then compressed and sintered after optional pretreatment, milling, annealing and the like. Various powder metallurgy processes already in use in the manufacture of tool materials can be used for stamping and sintering.
