Description
Vynález se týká způsobu zvyšování detekční a luminiscenční účinnosti krystalických materiálů pro detektory nízkoenergetického β-záření a elektronů na bázi yttritohlinitého granátu a yttritohlinitého perovskitu aktivovaného cerem nebo přesněji způsobu konečné úpravy povrchu těchto detektorů.The invention relates to a method for increasing the detection and luminescence efficiency of crystalline materials for cerium-activated yttrium-aluminum garnet and cerium-activated yttrium-aluminum perovskite based detectors of low energy β-radiation and electron, or more particularly to a method of finishing the surface of these detectors.
A variety of low-energy / 3-radiation and electron detection materials are currently known, of which mainly scintillators, scintillation glass and crystalline materials based on cerium-activated yttrium-aluminum garnet and "cerium-aluminum" -trytro-aluminum perovskite, europium-activated calcium fluride, yttrium, cerium activated and the like. For the use of these materials as energy detectors up to 100 keV, when the electron range in the material is a maximum of several µm, the surface layer is decisive for detection. In the present methods of treating crystalline materials, the surface layer is deformed, there are polished surface treatment materials, and in the case of powder detectors, the surface layer contains a number of impurities and ions adsorbed from the environment. This non-defined coating has a thickness comparable to the range of detected electrons and therefore causes considerable scattering of incident electrons and quenching luminescence, resulting in low and non-reproducible efficiency for detecting these energies.

Tuto nedefinovatelnou povrchovou vrstvu lze odstraňovat známým postupem odleptáváním 10 %n£m hydroxidem sodným, ale tento způsob vykazuje špatnou reprodukovatelnost a zvýšení luminiscenční účinnosti nejvýše o 10 %.This undefined surface layer can be removed by a known process by etching with 10% sodium hydroxide, but the process shows poor reproducibility and an increase in luminescence efficiency of at most 10%.
Dobré reprodukovatelnoůti a podstatného zvýšení luminiscenční účinnosti umožňuje způsob zvyšování detekční a luminiscenční účinnosti krystalických materiálů pro detekci nízkoenergetického /3-záření a elektronů na bázi yttritohlinitého granátu a yttrito hlinitého perovskitu aktivovaných cerem odleptáním povrchové nedefinovatelné vrstvy vzniklé opracováním, podle vynálezu, jehož podstata spočívá v tom, že na scintilační detektor se působí kyselinou fosforečnou o koncentraci 65 až 85 % při teplotě T v intervalu 50 až 295 °C po dobu t , odpovídající vztahuThe method of increasing the detection and luminescence efficiency of low-energy / 3-radiation crystalline materials and yttrium-aluminum garnet and cerium-activated yttrium-aluminum perovskite electrons by etching the surface indefinable treatment layer according to the invention, which is based on the invention, provides a good reproducibility and substantial increase in luminescence efficiency. 2. The method according to claim 1, characterized in that the scintillation detector is treated with phosphoric acid at a concentration of 65 to 85% at a temperature T in the interval 50 to 295 ° C for a time t corresponding to

The detection surface of the cerium-activated yttrium-aluminum garnet scintillator in the form of a one-sided polished plate was exposed to 70% phosphoric acid at 150 ° C for 300 s. The work was carried out in a Teflon container. The scintillation detector thus treated exhibited a 10% higher luminescence efficiency for detecting 20 to 30 keV electrons against a scintillator, the surface of which was etched with 10% sodium hydroxide at 100 ° C and 20% more effective against the untreated surface.

For the detection of tritium H isotope energy of 0.0179 MeV, a yttrium-aluminated cerium-activated pear scitilizer with a grain size of 15 to 25 yum was used and exposed to 80% phosphoric acid at a selected temperature of 295 ° C for 5 hours. The scintillator treated in this way showed an increased detection efficiency against the untreated surface to 250% of its value.

Pro leštěné povrchy je výhodné volit teploty působení nižší, do 200 °C, pro povrchy práškovitého materiálu teploty vyšší nad 200 °C.For polished surfaces, it is preferable to select treatment temperatures lower than 200 ° C, for surfaces of powdered material temperatures above 200 ° C.
The higher the purity of the phosphoric acid used, the better the luminescence efficiency is achieved. Particularly preferred is an acid whose purity is such that its impurity content is lower than the limit of detectability when determined by neutron activation analysis or X-ray fluorescence analysis.
