Abstract

The binder is intended for the preparation of materials intended for surface protection of structures in areas with increased radiation, especially in nuclear power facilities. For this purpose, the epoxy resin used is modified with a mixture of benzyl alcohol and bis-2-ethylhexyl phthalate so that it is radiation stable and easily decontaminated even when an aliphatic polyamine type hardener is used for its curing.

Description

The two-component binder for the coating materials in contact with the radioactivity of the invention relates to materials for surface protection of structures in areas with increased radiation, in particular materials used for surface protection of concrete walls and building structures in nuclear power plants.

Povrchová ochrana stavebních konstrukci v objektech jaderné energetiky se u nás dosud běžně řeší mnohavrstvými epoxidovými nátěry,rozpouštědlového typu, popřípadě kombinací disperzních a rozpouštědlových nátěrů. Surface protection of building structures in nuclear power engineering buildings is still commonly handled by multi-layer epoxy coatings, solvent type, or a combination of dispersion and solvent coatings. The advantage of these coatings is good radiation resistance, as they are formulated on the basis of higher molecular weight epoxy resins and the cured binder therefore contains few radiolytically sensitive nitrogen bridges. The disadvantage is the low thickness of the resulting film and considerable leakage of flammable and toxic vapors into the air during the work. The cost of protective masks and the costs of forced ventilation are considerably more expensive, and compliance with the necessary safety measures compromises the flow of construction work.

Solvent-free radiation-resistant coatings are used abroad to form low molecular weight epoxy resins cured with special aromatic amines. The use of aromatic hardeners strengthens the overall aromatic structure of the cured binder. The ease with which the aromatic nuclei bonds occupy different energy levels enables rapid delocalization of absorbed radiant energy, thereby offsetting the adverse effect of increased concentration of radiolytically sensitive bridges. However, aromatic hardeners are very expensive and serious objections to their use are raised. In addition, aromatic hardener formulations are often poorly decontaminated.

The two-component binder of the present invention is comprised of a dianbisglycidyl ether type epoxy resin and an amine hardener which comprises benzyl alcohol in combination with bis-2-ethylhexyl phthalate as an anti-radiation stabilizer, wherein the weight ratio of benzyl alcohol to bis-2-ethylhexyl phthalate is preferably 1: 2 to 1: 6 and the total content of both additives is 10 to 30% by weight of the epoxy resin mass. According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the bis-2-ethylhexyl phthalate is previously homogenized with the resin, while the benzyl alcohol is previously added to the amine hardener. Among the amine curing agents, in particular diethylenetriamine, dipropylenetriamine, cyclohexylaminopropylamine, adducts of epoxy resin and aliphatic amines, amino amides based on dimerized fatty acids and aliphatic amines, or mixtures thereof, are used. According to another preferred embodiment, the amine hardener may also contain triethanolamine in an amount of up to 20% by weight of the amine-containing hardener.

It has been found that a binder formulation according to the above principles yields thermosetting plastics with a sufficient pot life, which upon curing at normal temperature provides chemically resistant products with excellent radiation stability with very good decontamination. Moreover, the low viscosity of the binder allows easy preparation of pigmented thermosetting plastics. In a radiation stability test performed in a rotating cobalt emitter, samples of the cured two-component binder of the invention showed minimal color changes even at a total dose of 100 Mrad.

Vzorky pojivá modifikovaného alifatickým glycidyléterem při ozáření stejnou dávkou výrazně tmavnou. Vytvrzené pryskyřičné pojivo podle vynálezu připravené z pryskyřice modifikované 5 % benzylalkoholu a 10 % bis-2-ethylhexylftalátu vykázalo po ozáření dávkou 100 Mrad v gama zářiči průměrnou mez pevnosti v ohybu 34,9 MPa a průměrnou mez pevnosti v tahu 22,2 MPa.Aliphatic glycidyl ether modified binder samples darken significantly when exposed to the same dose. The cured resin binder of the invention, prepared from a resin modified with 5% benzyl alcohol and 10% bis-2-ethylhexyl phthalate, showed an average flexural strength of 34.9 MPa and an average tensile strength of 22.2 MPa after irradiation with a 100 Mrad dose in a gamma emitter.

A binder prepared from a resin modified with a comparable amount of butyl glycidyl ether exhibits only 24.6 MPa under bending conditions and only 17.5 MPa under tension.

Základní adhezivní vrstva se kupříkladu připraví z lehce pigmentovaného pojivá o následujícím složení:In a particular embodiment, the binder of the invention is applied in the form of continuously applied layers, preferably alternating layers having different filler and pigment contents. For example, the base adhesive layer is prepared from a lightly pigmented binder having the following composition:

hmotnostních dílů epoxidové pryskyřice o epoxidovém hmotnostním ekvivalentu 196 g.mol 1, hmotnostních dílů bis-2-ethylhexyl-ftalátu, 5 hmotnostních dílů benzylalkoholu, 15 hmotnostních dílů isoforondiaminu a 1 hmotnostního dílu železité červeně. Amin se k předem připravené směsi ostatních složek přidává bezprostředně před použitím. Izolovaná betonová plocha získává po aplikaci načervenalý odstín což umožňuje kontrolu rozsahu provedení penetrační vrstvy.parts by weight of epoxy resin with an epoxy equivalent of 196 g / mol 1 , parts by weight of bis-2-ethylhexyl phthalate, 5 parts by weight of benzyl alcohol, 15 parts by weight of isophorone diamine and 1 part by weight of ferric red. The amine is added to the preformed mixture of the other ingredients immediately prior to use. The insulated concrete surface acquires a reddish shade after application, which allows the extent of the penetration layer to be checked.

Before application, a hardener consisting of 4.9 parts by weight of benzyl alcohol and 11.2 parts by weight of trimethylhexamethylenediamine hardener of conventional quality (isomer mixture 2,2,4 and 2,4,4) is added to the resin component. A white layer prepared from a component containing 58.7 parts by weight of the same epoxy resin as above, 4 parts by weight of talc, 8 parts by weight of kaolin, 15.2 parts by weight of titanium dioxide and 11 parts by weight of bis-2 is applied to this gray colored layer. ethylhexyl phthalate. A hardener consisting of 3.6 parts by weight of benzyl alcohol and 6.1 parts by weight of diethylenetriamine is added to this component.

The resin component for the final lacquer layer is prepared from 75 parts by weight of epoxy resin as above and 20 parts by weight of bis-2-ethylhexyl phthalate.
