Abstract

The solution relates to wedge-shaped refractory bricks for lining metal rotating cylinders, for example rotary kilns. The wedge-shaped refractory brick has a bevel on the axial joint from the inner, i.e. warmer side, the shape of the bevel being chosen so that the resulting gap is filled by thermal expansion.

Description

The invention relates to wedge refractory bricks for lining rotating cylinders, e.g. rotary kilns. The wedge is a prismatic body with a generating line in the direction of the furnace axis, the base perpendicular to the generating line forming an annular sector. In the axial and circumferential directions, the contact surfaces are planar in their entire thickness. The wedges are made for standardized cylinder radii, furnaces with a non-standardized radius are lined with two types of wedges, so that the boundary planes of the wedges of one ring do not intersect in the furnace axis. As the furnace rotates, the bricks are held to the shell by a wedge-like vault, and in addition, after heating, they are pressed as a result of the shell being colder and not allowing free thermal expansion of the bricks. It can be shown by calculation that the bricks are most dilatant on the inner radius and thus tolerate considerable pressure stresses in the circumferential and possibly axial direction in the zone adjacent to the inner surface, while in the zone adjacent to the outer surface they are stress free. The stress in the circumferential direction is reduced by steel inserts on the circumferential planes, after whose physico-chemical deformation the stress at the inner surface is substantially reduced. The stress in the axial direction is. has to be reduced by expansion joints, usually filled with cardboard. The axial movement of the bricks is captured by steel retaining rings, attached from the inside to the shell and covered by the bevel of the bricks against the heat. The end of the furnace, the transition to a lining of a different kind or a constricted point, for example a necking under the support ring, also acts as a retaining ring.

The disadvantages of existing bricks are that they reduce their volume during operation, both by relaxation and by aging. When the furnace cools, they are cooled more quickly than the jacket and stop contacting the jacket at the top. As they roll and shrink, they roll to the lower end of the furnace as they roll in the housing, stopping on the retaining ring. They rest against each other on the inner surface zone. This action is irreversible. After reheating, the bricks are first expanded thermally and rest against the shell so that rolling in the shell and axial movement of the bricks does not occur and the axial pressure between the bricks is crushed by the retaining ring. Crushing the bricks will overheat the casing and cause further damage. Even if crushing does not occur, the retaining rings are exposed from the underside of the bricks by the axial progression of the bricks and overheated with subsequent thrust.

The above-mentioned disadvantages are overcome by a wedge refractory brick for the lining of metal rotating cylindrical casings according to the invention, characterized in that it has a bevel on the axial joint from the inside, the bevel shape being chosen so that the thermal expansion gap just fills, the gap on the inner surface of the lining is determined by the formula.

An advantage of the wedge refractory brick according to the invention is that it is permanently axially supported on the outer surface and will not be axially stressed during heating and will not move axially during cooling.

3 a 4 v podélném řezu, procházejícím osou kovového válcového pláště.1 and 2 are axonometric and FIGS. 3 and 4 are longitudinal sectional views of the axis of the metal cylindrical shell.

A wedge refractory brick 4 or 5 for lining a steel rotating cylindrical shell 3 has a bevel 1 on the inner warmer side on the axial joint 6 so as to rest permanently on the adjacent wedge bricks on the outer cold side and not to move in the axial direction. The resulting dilatation gap 2 is widest on the inner surface, it has a width ε there, and narrows towards the outer colder surface. The shape of the bevel 1 is theoretically chosen such that the gap 2 is just filled by the operational thermal expansion. The width ε occurring on the inner surface of the lining is determined by the formula: e '= & v · «v · d - & 0 . ae o . d where the operating temperature of the inner surface of the lining, and is a linear thermal expansion coefficient at a temperature & bricks in, the temperature of the outer surface of the lining, and 0 is the coefficient of linear thermal expansion of the bricks at 0 and d is the axial dimension of the bricks.

The width ε depends on the material and temperatures and is practically only 1 to 3 mm long for a brick length of 250 mm. Therefore, the chamfer 1 can be practically planar, wherein the thickness h of the non-chamfered part is chosen from 1/3 to 2/3 of the total thickness H of the brick.

4. Odpadnou dilatační spáry a zádržné kroužky.The axle may be either on one side of Fig. 3 or on both sides of Fig. 4. Expansion joints and retaining rings are omitted.
