Description
The invention relates to a method of preparing the surface of ferrite parts for their mutual joining with glass solder, or for their joining with parts made of other materials, e.g. ceramic parts.
The technique of joining ferrite parts with glass solder, or their joining with parts made of other materials, is mainly used in the production of magnetic circuits, of which the most widespread application is magnetic read/write heads. To achieve a perfect connection, it is necessary to ensure maximum adhesion of the bonding material to the individual surfaces of the soldered assembly. In the previously known procedures for preparing the surfaces of joined ferrite parts, in addition to perfect degreasing, they are exposed to high temperatures in the range of 800 to 1,000 °C for a maximum of 30 minutes, for example, according to GB 1,016,937 and GB 1,144,825. The procedure according to GB 1,016,937 alternatively uses concentrated hydrochloric acid at elevated temperatures for a pre-treatment of soldered surfaces with an exposure time of 10 to 30 minutes. The method, protected by GB 1,317,634, consists in applying an intermediate layer to the soldered surfaces, composed of boron or its compounds. A similar principle is used in the process according to US 3,494,026, where the intermediate layer is formed of borate, silica or borosilicate glass, optionally doped with vanadium pentoxide.
In all previously used methods of preparing the surface of ferrite parts for their mutual connection with glass solder, the glass solder - ferrite interface remains the least mechanically strong. This fact negatively affects the mechanical machinability of soldered assemblies of ferrite parts, or in combination with parts made of other materials, for example ceramic, which in turn reduces the yield of the final magnetic circuits.
The shortcomings resulting from the fact that the lowest mechanical resistance to stress in a soldered assembly is at the interface between the glass solder and ferrite are eliminated by using the method of preparing the surface of ferrite parts for their connection with glass solder according to the invention, the essence of which lies in the fact that the surfaces of these ferrite parts are treated with an etching chemical agent containing free nitric acid HNO 3 and hydrofluoric acid HF, in the presence of an organic hydroxy acid at a temperature in the range of 25 to 95 °C at normal atmospheric pressure, the duration of its action being defined by the relationship:
kde tp where is the
- doba působení chemického činidla za izotermálních podmínek v min.- time of action of the chemical agent under isothermal conditions in min.
k - konstanta, nabývající hodnot od 0,1 do 0,95 tz - doba působení chemického činidla za izotermálních podmínek, po které dojde na povrchu feritového dílu k vystoupení metalografické struktury v min.k - constant, taking values from 0.1 to 0.95 t z - time of action of the chemical agent under isothermal conditions, after which the metallographic structure appears on the surface of the ferrite part in min.
Současně dojde k odstranění broušením a následným leštěním rozrušené povrchové vrstvičky feritu. Tím nastane odhalení kompaktního mechanicky nezhmožděného feritu a v důsledku toho i vyloučení elementu kritického z hlediska pevnosti v přechodu ferit - sklo. Doba působení činidla, je ohraničena shora,a tím je zabráněno hlubšímu odleptávání feritu, než je žádoucí, což by mohlo vést například ke zhoršení relace magnetická šířka proti geometrické šířce sklem vyplněné štěrbiny mezi feritovými díly.In principle, the method according to the invention consists in removing polished ferrite dust particles from the surface, or ferrite particles in combination with particles of the abrasive and polishing material used. At the same time, the surface layer of ferrite that has been disturbed by grinding and subsequent polishing is removed. This reveals compact, mechanically undamaged ferrite and, as a result, eliminates the element critical for strength in the ferrite-glass transition. The time of action of the agent is limited from above, thereby preventing deeper etching of the ferrite than is desired, which could lead, for example, to a deterioration of the relationship between the magnetic width and the geometric width of the glass-filled gap between the ferrite parts.
The examples given below illustrate the method of preparing the surface of ferrite parts for their mutual connection with glass solder, or for their connection with parts made of other materials, for example ceramic, according to the invention, without limiting or delimiting it.

Takto předupravené feritové díly byly spájeny skelnou pájkou postupem, který zahrnoval následující technologické operace:Chemically degreased ferrite parts, made of compacted NlZn by its mechanical processing, including cutting, grinding and subsequent polishing on the joined surfaces to a maximum roughness R a 0.02 <um, were exposed to a chemical reagent with a composition of 15 volumes of 65% nitric acid HN0 3 , 5 volumes of 38 to 40% hydrofluoric acid HF and 15 volumes of 80% lactic acid at a temperature of 65 °C for 10 minutes. The thus pretreated ferrite parts were soldered with glass solder by a procedure that included the following technological operations:
- naprášení distančních terčíků z molybdenu o výšce 2,5 <um, definujících šířku štěrbiny mezi feritovými díly po sestavení,- sputtering of molybdenum spacers with a height of 2.5 <um, defining the width of the gap between the ferrite parts after assembly,
- sestavení těchto dílů v pájecím přípravku, fixujícím jejich vzájemnou polohu,- assembly of these parts in a soldering fixture, fixing their mutual position,
- založeni skelných vláken z výše uvedené skelné pájky o vhodných průměrech nad horní okraje svisle orientovaných štěrbin mezi feritovými díly,- laying glass fibers from the above-mentioned glass solder of suitable diameters above the upper edges of the vertically oriented slots between the ferrite parts,
- zahřívání celé této sestavy v elektrické peci rychlosti 150 °C/hodinu až na teplotu 950 °C,- heating this entire assembly in an electric furnace at a rate of 150 °C/hour up to a temperature of 950 °C,
- prodlevu v délce 1/2 hodiny na této teplotě 950 °C, zabezpečující vyplnění štěrbin mezi díly roztavenou sklovinou působením kapilární a gravitační síly,- a delay of 1/2 hour at this temperature of 950 °C, ensuring the filling of the gaps between the parts with molten enamel under the action of capillary and gravitational forces,
- ochlazování zahřáté sestavy volným vychládáním v uzavřené, vypnuté peci.- cooling of the heated assembly by free cooling in a closed, switched off furnace.
The soldered assembly was cut into magnetic chips, i.e. into slices with a thickness of 0.3 mm, forming the magnetic circuit of the reader/recorder head, and these were ground and polished. During the production of magnetic chips, there was no mechanical disruption of the soldered assembly as a whole, nor of the chips; the chips produced in this way were subjected to bending stress on a tearing device until they were destroyed. In all destroyed chips, the fracture passed through the glass-ferrite interface for only a small part of its length, or did not pass through it at all.
Ferrite parts, prepared according to Example 1 from MnZn ferrite, were exposed to a chemical reagent with a composition of 15 volumes of 65% nitric acid HN0 3 , 5 volumes of 38 to 40% hydrofluoric acid HF and 90 volumes of 80% lactic acid at a temperature of 40 °C for 2 minutes.
Takto předupravené feritové díly byly spájeny skelnou pájkou postupem shodným s příkladem 1. stejným způsobem jako v příkladu 1 byly vyrobeny čipy, mechanicky opracovány a zkoušeny až do destrukce. Během mechanického opracovávání podle příkladu 1 nedošlo k mechanickému porušení žádného z čipů. Lom v destruovaných čipech probíhal vesměs mimo oblast přechodu sklo - ferit. The thus pre-treated ferrite parts were soldered with glass solder in the same manner as in Example 1. In the same manner as in Example 1, chips were manufactured, mechanically processed and tested until destruction. During the mechanical processing according to Example 1, none of the chips were mechanically damaged. The fracture in the destroyed chips occurred mostly outside the glass-ferrite transition area.
