Abstract

The solution concerns a method of production of highly pure L-altrose and L-alose. Sodium salt of crystalline l-deoxy-1-nitro-L-altritol and/or 1-deoxy-1-nitrol-L-alitol is decomposed by sulphuric acid at a temperature of 18 to 20 degrees C for a period of 4 to 6 minutes. The reaction mixture is deprived of inorganic salts, for example by methanol and on column by means of cation and anion exchangers. The pure substances are thickened to syrup and crystallized out of ethanol. The mixture of L-altrose and L-alose and the source substance is chromatographically selectively fractionized on column with ion exchanger with functional sulfo groups in plumbous form, from which they are eluted by 45 to 50 percent water solution of ethanol.
