Abstract

The solution concerns a longitudinally oriented composite material of oriented polypropylene in the form of belts with increased toughness in low temperatures. The principle of the solution consists in longitudinally oriented composite material of polypropylene in the form of belts consisting of oriented elongated polymer and of 5 to 40 percent by weight of glass fibres with length of 0.05 to 2 mm. The method of preparation of the longitudinally oriented composite material according to the solution consists in the fact that firstly the polypropylene melt is mixed with the glass fibres 0.05 to 2 mm long and then the material is elongated in solid state at a temperature of 20 to 170 degrees C and an elongation speed of 0.05 to 500 mm/min. The composite material according to the solution will find its application in places where it is necessary to face impacts in extremely low temperatures, where all the standard rubbers embrittle.
