Abstract

The oxidized solution is boiled to remove free ammonia and to decompose the ammonium carbonate and remove the resulting carbon dioxide and ammonia. The solution is acidified with sulfuric acid or sulfur dioxide in order to precipitate nickel as a complex double salt. The precipitate is removed from the solution and the solution is contacted with a sulfurizing agent in order to precipitate the dissolved nickel and cobalt sulfide.
