Abstract
El cromo es removido del mineral lateritico de níquel dimensionando las partículas del mineral según resultan de la misma para proveer una fracción de finos en la cual sustancialmente todo el cromo esta en forma de ácido soluble y entonces lixiviando dicho cromo soluble de dicha fracción de finos junto con níquel y otros valores de metal asociado por lixiviación a alta presión a una temperatura llevada en una solución acuosa de ácido sulfúrico de tal forma que se produce restos de mineral de hierro muy bajo en cromo adecuado para recobrar hierro del mismo.The chromium is removed from the nickel lateritic ore by sizing the ore particles as they result from it to provide a fines fraction in which substantially all of the chromium is in the form of soluble acid and then leaching said soluble chromium from said fines fraction together with nickel and other associated metal values by high pressure leaching at a temperature carried in an aqueous solution of sulfuric acid in such a way that very low chromium iron ore remains are produced, suitable for recovering iron from it.
